ULTRA Running | How To Choose Your Race?

Спорт

How to choose your ULTRA race? There are many races to choose from and it is sometimes difficult to know where to start. I share with you the criteria I apply when choosing which ULTRA race is best suited for me.
I hope you will find this useful to help you sift through the long list of races that are available and also avoid any pitfalls that I fell into when I was trying to find the right race for me.
Choosing your ULTRA race is not easy but I am sure that with this simple criteria you will narrow your list down to a more manageable size.
See you on the trails!

Great video 👍 I pick my A race for the next year in October and find out what I need to do to get an entry and when registration opens. This year is the Swiss Peaks 360 which is easy to enter as it is the week after UTMB and week before TDG so it doesn't fill up until people find if they got in those or not. Then I just enter "training" races from March to August that I've done before and liked or that look interesting. I don't usually do UTMB races as i don't like like big crowded races and queueing but I would like to do the UTMB Chamonix race once just to say I did it so will get a charity entry rather than doing the lottery the year I decide to do it.

Just wanted to add one point of consideration when taking the family for long trips and that is coinciding with school holidays. So many factors and its great to see the family being a key point 👍

Hey Rafael, your videos are getting better and better. I wonder how you manage to work, be a father and husband, to run and do the videos. You are really an ultra. Congrats.

Thanks so much Gustavo! Really appreciate your support and encouragement! Makes it all the more worth it! You are spot on: its not easy to do it all and these videos take so much time to put together. I squeeze it in when I have spare minutes between putting the kids to bed and spending time with my wife 😁 next film will be on the “white trail” I did in the snow in the Swiss Alps.

@@rafaelhidalgo Eager to see the new video. I am checking if I will be able to go to Nice too because there isnt a single UTMB event in South America. Then maybe we can chat a little bit.

@@botelhog76 that would be awesome! Otherwise you have an event in Mexico; i think its the only latin American event.

Thanks for another great video Rafael! In July Im going to compete in my first ultra at Verbier 4000 45k with 4000D, registered in December :) Really looking forward to pushing the body to see what it has to give in such conditions. Your videos inspired me to register, so thanks for that! Keep on producing the great content buddy!

Good point! I could elaborate on that in the next video as it’s the next one i am doing. But essentially you just apply and you have 1 chance out of 8 to get picked.
