You have to separate fans, supporters, ultras and hooligans. They are all something different. Fans and supporters are self-explaining. Ultras are tight to the club. They're always in the stands in home and away games. They are the reason for the singing, the chants, the choreographies and the atmosphere in and around the stadium. Avoid the hooligans. They're the people who just looking for trouble, violence and they're letting a dark stain on the football cult.

Angry Kefir Entertainment Ultras and hooligans can be a little harder to seperate. While not all Ultras are hooligans, all hooligans are Ultras. Most Ultras groups have a smaller hooligan group that fights other groups and cops. It is true however, that most Ultras are there for the support for the club and are only interestend in the adrenaline of chanting and singing and being there for their club in good and bad times

Not all ultras and hooligans can be seperated from the club but if you look into banning orders and section 56ing people on every means of transport will help reduce the amount of fights. Meanwhile cameras everywhere. Its how hooligans were stopped in the early 2000's but this still goes on but not on such a scale

6:00 "Why are they doing this" Basically, what happens is there's one scuffle that breaks out between a small group of people, maybe even two. Then everyone comes in to defend their own. Then the police will try to break it up, then a riot.

bit late with this reaction but i figured out that you guys have no clue what goes on in sports outside of America. a few things explained: the " rags " in front of their faces at 1:13 are called Balaclava, they wear them cuz " no face, no name " or more specificaly, hooligans are hunted down by cops based on tattoo's, faces, fingerprints. they hide their face to stay out of the hands of police. The "feeling" you guys are talking about is indeed overwelming. not cuz " holy fuck this is alot to process" but " holy fuck im home and i feel alive at 3:50 " can you imagin being a part of this " to be truly honnest with you... no you and 99% of the rest of americans will never imaging how it feels to be part of this kind of lifestyle. for americans any sport is a hobby, nothing more than entertainment you go to in the weekend. for us europeans, no matter how big or how small the club is and no matter how known or not known it is, football is a religion, it's a way of life and a reason to wake up for every single day. the " it does like rioting " isnt far off from what it realy is. although a " riot " is for change, a football fight is to defend the club's honnor, collors and history. it's a way of expressing your loyalty to the club. if it's a good way or a bad way is not up to me to judge. at 6:00 you ask " why, why are they doing this " well ... part one of the answer is above, part to is against cops. a hooligan will NEVER like a cop ( see the first line of my explination about the balaclava ). hooligans of rivaling clubs will allways fight eachother for club, honnor and history. hooligans will also allways fight cops, for hate, history and answering violence. also you mention taking your child to the game. there are plenty of family stands in a stadion, a hooligan or ultra stand is no place for you to be with your child UNLESS you want him to grow up just like you ( like father like son ) at 8:07 you say " i see multiple sports " and that is correct. alot of clubs have basketball teams etc under the same name. these people live, breath and die for their club. nomatter what sport their club plays at that moment. a few important things you guys didnt noticed. Football and politics go hand in hand in alot of countries here in europe. fans HAVE to be sepurated. you have fanatic fans, hooligans and ultras. there is a difference between those. pyro and tifo are a common thing to express dedication and loyalty Foorball is war over here in europe, no matter what country you are in, there is allways 2 teams that could eat eachother alive. there is allways a game that has violence, pyro, hate and pasion beyond "normal" i hope this enlightens your limited knowledg of what goes on outside america.

Europe is known as the continent of war for a reason. It is a very tribal part of the world is this is represented in our football teams. Every team from England to Russia has a hooligan element in which they fight sometimes to the death. This is where the passion comes from its literally more than just football. It's race, religion, politics, national pride, international pride. Feelings run deep in Europe we do not forget the past.

It's impossible to try explain to americans what football is to us in Europe. It isn't "hey let us put a team shirt on, bbq in the back yard and yell at the tv". This is a part of us. The pride that rushes over you when the team you have supported since you were a child, steps on the field. The bond you have with everyone around you eventhough you never met them before, the songs, the beers you share after a game, its.... It's family, passion and life. It's not just "oh the Eagles lost, what a bummer". If your team losses, you feel that loss with them and if they win.. Hell, we're partying tonight.

The hate and aggressions to the police is very strong at our football because they Stand up for the system and take action against fans. That is why they are hated and there is violence, because we do not allow ourselves to be banned, because football is more than a sport for us. It is our life, our love. In football we can be free, we can let everything out and you can only understand this extreme passion once you have been there.

Ultras and especially hooligans (which are generally banned) are often more than just support for their club, sometimes rivalries can have social or political motives, or it can come down to their city of origin, past encounters and disputes. They are even used as a means to commit crime and stir up violence sometimes. Although its not that common anymore in most place, now its usually just healthy support and competition.

Hooliganism was outlawed in Western Europe countries after 39 Juventus fans died at Heysel. Most uIltras are from Greece, Turkey, Balkan countries and Eastern Europe. Italy also have 1 or 2 but they're pretty calm in comparison. Here in England to combat it ticket prices were raised so the pond life couldn't afford to go and it's now family friendly.

ULTRA is life - ULTRA to DEATH - see it to believe it and taste the blood and hear the break of the bones - then you are "One, who is an ULTRA" - PS - See you both in Europe for a REAL MATCH!!! - ULTRAS are a way of life - tribal and loyal to team, without doubt - ever. Always stand and fight and move forward. Americans don't get out team passion as it transverses boundaries that despite Europe, we still have loyalties internally to our respective countries, and historical hate towards others too! Unlike the US, we in Europe have a great history of killing people for millennium - you guys are only infants in that league - learn what ULTRAS can give - follow you people no matter the skin colour, but the TEAM is LIFE and DEATH

Basically there are two types of fans, but both are interchangeable, the 'normal fan' that just loves the club watches the game and goes home, and then there are the hooligans (ultras) these are groups of fans that usually fights the other hooligans of the other team, you should watch a movie called Green Street Hooligan (starring Elijah Wood) to get a more full understanding of this.

You ask why? in Europe we have something like hooligans league and teams from countries fight about who will be number one, here in Poland it is called '' ustawka "Poland and Russia has the best hooligans in Europe ... I recommend see more TFC and teams such as Lech Poznan

  • @ollie8317

They do it as they probably hate each other. Most teams have a rival team which they absolutely hate and most of the time fights occur. Even my home team in the lowest professional division has a rival and we get bricks thrown at our coach and the other way around. That is why.

I am from Sweden and have been to a shit ton of football games and have friends within ultras and can tell you that they do this to show support and cause this is half the fun of going to a match. These people are quite fucked up but arent we all in some sort? Guess we can all agree thought that no American football supporters would ever want to meet any European low/high league football in a match outside the arena.

Being a fan (more specific a member of a local firm or hooligan as some would call it) of a club isn't just about the club, it's more like standing your ground with your fellow locals, see it as the modern day's replacement of tribe-warfare, local and national things come to play here, like politics, beliefs, cultural differences, issues from the past like wars or clashes from the past between firms of opposing clubs, therefore the passion and violence. Also instead of Americans who often can choose a club they want to support, Europeans are usually born into a certain club because dad, or mom or the whole family are already fans, so it passes through generations, which contributes to the passion. Furthermore; unlike in the US it's UN-THINK-A-BLE for a club to move from town A to town B. You might wanna check out the story on how the start of the Yugoslavian war in the 90's all went down, it started on and around the football pitch.

Is more then sport guys , is hard to explain this but the violence is something normal sometimes . Because of our hate against cops , the government , Uefa rules and sometimes for our historical enemies from different countries , cities or even neighborhoods. But , is a beautiful world where you travel a lot , have fun , party and make friends for life .👍 Cheers from Europe.

Ultras, Tifosi or Football Hooligans are subcultural phenomena in Europe. It is a part of the society that has roots from the working class families. Their roots goes back in the history when football was working class and poor man entertainment. It is passed from generation to generation. Violence is a part of the ritual between rival groups. You have to honor and defend the colors of your club or your city by fighting your opponents. It is folklore and most likely tribal way of life. Even though Ultras are mostly on the margins of society, labeled as aggressive and destructive, they play significant role. When society is oppressed, Ultras are the ones that stands up and fight against authorities. Even in serious political events such as national rising, they are the first line of defense between people and establishment. They are there to fight and defend no matter of what and whom. It is stereotype that Ultras are aggressive hordes. There are lot of academically educated people in the groups, they also organize lot of humanitarian actions or helping people in case of natural disasters such as fires or earthquakes. Being Ultras is way of life, it is passion, it is adrenaline.

As an American you live in a police state where authority must be obeyed, in Europe we like to remind police that control is only a perception.

That's the way of life. Olympiacos hates Panathinaikos and the opposite. That's the biggest rivalry in Greece, period. Being an Ultra means life, means from the minute you're waking up thinking the colours of your team. Leaving the house, going to open the firm club so your boys could come and arrange everything for the upcoming match. Everything that has to do with going to the stadium, what transport is gonna be used which is usually a motorised course, putting the team bunners at the correct position so everyone that watching from the house would know who's the most well-known firm club, and final, finding your opponents fanatics and boom, starting to beat the shit out of their lives. There's other things that it's can't be mentioned online 😎. It's more than a movement, it's more than a religion, it's your breath, it's every beat of your 💓, it's every second of your life.. OLYMPIACOS, (KERATSINI)PORTO LEONE FIRM GATE-7-
