I'd rather watch this than modern cars that are twice as fast. Perfect video pacing, not a lot of burnouts or filler, then the walk-around was wonderful.

My '57 Ford Custom 2 dr sedan set three NHRA E/G E/MP records back in the early 70's turning 19's. Today, it turns high 9's and it's still street legal.

had a 55 2dr chev back in the 70-s raced it, 396 375. crazy fast, wrecked it. no brakes, got-da have brakes, mystery motor is plowing a wave of air like a barge pushing water. raced a 56 2dr ford with a 292 Y block bore 312, old cop car, being not much more than 22 or so, I didn't know at the time the old y block in the beginning only went to law enforcement. when we stripped the car paint, we found police and leaded in holes, whip antenna. live & learn. even had a hole by the wind shield for a spot light. fun days, cheap fun, I never put a lot of money in to a car, they all came & went quickly.

Old school rocks!

That black 2 dr. Galaxie 500 hardtop at 1:12-1:13 was our family car, except ours was a 4 dr. with a 390(can tell by the little Thunderbird with cross flags badges on behind the front tires on the rockers). I know my cars and the early '60's Fords were very stylish. Every year was a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CAR, even down to the design of the dash! The sixties were the last true cars. In the seventies, the designs of the year models changed less and starting in the early '70's, the smog emission controls almost did them in, as far as horsepower was concerned.

I remember that old white 55 Chevy called the " the white elephant" it tan back in the 60s. I forgot who was the driver. It was very competitive.

Primitive drag strips don't pull many spectators, if the track was updated like Indy or Summit, etc and advertising they'd be full.

I hope I can have my car ready to race and go to Byron Dragway when they're having one of these cool events, before "they" close the entire country down!!

5:20 That brought tears to my eyes. Knowing the history of those two cars would be great, I know this video is a few years old but I would like to know the background if anyone knows.

Great stuff man , every video has been a lot of fun , one of the videos had the Chevy II called Novacane , sick paint and quick , Back in the mid 70's we use to run ours cars out on on this dead end road , seen a lot of the Chevy II's they were some of the top hot rods , looked cool even if they lost lol new sub my friend

That ol Pontiac tempest was like my dads car. It had a 326ci in it.

The old school drags were the best only I didn't see too many of them. I did my drag racing on the streets and the highway.

older than you Cali I’m 55 for your information. Nice try at trolling though. You need some practice. But yes back in the 70s dad and I was always at the track on the weekends. No one ever bought me a car except me. Daddy was to busy drinking.

if you mean the Rail @ 5:37 it's more than likely a Chevy. Chevy had intake and exhaust on the driver's side of the engine, Ford was on the other side. A Pinto Engine was a 4 Cylinder.

That track is mighty close to a nuclear power plant. The good news is if the plant starts to have a problem these guys have fast enough cars to get the heck out of dodge.

@@suabroboro5764 That's not old school HP though, the point is to have old school HP for vintage drag racing. My old school car has 1500 hp, doesn't qualify as a vintage drag car.

With the times they are running most have less than 400.With 1500 they would be running in the low 8's.at least.

What is the guy in the 65 Tempest thinking? When I first same him come up to the line with his high profile whitewall tires I figured it must be a 389 at least. Then he runs high 16's. I think that's slow even for a 326 with Powerglide.

I stopped watching as soon as the times weren't shown properly, which was a great pity.

Nobody was racing '62 chevy four-door sedans! I know because I was on the dragstrip from the late 50's to the early 80's, these cars and races are a poor representation of the cars that were on the strip back in the day.

People must think that they are driving funny cars, doing burnouts way past the start.
