Ultimate Utility Build - Suburaban 2500 for Overlanding, Towing and Farm Work

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Few overlanders have a rig that's dedicated to just hitting the trails. At the very least, it needs to pull daily driver duty by hauling the family, and sometimes farm work and towing are tossed in the mix. This is exactly the idea behind the Ultimate Utility build Suburban.
With a focus on communication, first aid, and general organization, the Suburban can transition from towing farm equipment to hitting the trails in no time flat. Matt practices what he preaches. Instead of building his Suburban just for overlanding he has designed his rig to fit his needs, whether as a daily driver, a farm truck, or an adventure rig.
Kids that are involved in tons of extracurriculars come with tons of equipment, so staying organized is key. Then you have gear like first aid, comms, and emergency equipment that need to be on hand at all times. Last, some gear to make a quick lunch or coffee is super useful when you're on the go. Drawers keep things organized, and Matt's fridge is wired into his Goal Zero Yeti and a solar system. When he won't be running the truck for a while, the NOCO shore power charger keeps everything topped off.
The Suburban isn't too suburban, though. With a Buckstop steel bumper, Super Winch, and plenty of auxiliary lighting, it can head into the backcountry without missing a beat. Check out the video to get the full rundown of all of these systems and more.

Diesels are so expensive for maintenance and repair. Idk why people love them so much. The standard v8s are so much easier to work on. And now the regulations with diesel engines are so insane its not even worth it.

I've watched all of the BROG videos several times and have lots of your gear. If you haven't gotten a roof rack yet, check out Baseline Overland. I have one on my 08 Tahoe and love it. Keep up the good work!

Been trying to find where you mounted the Baja Designs Lights to the glass on the inside of the hatch. Looked everywhere I thought. Love the build. Thank you!

Very impressive build! I’ve got an ‘07 Yukon XL that I’m planning a scaled down version of a build like yours. I’m wondering, how did you mount those long slide outs in back? And what’s the brand on that solar panel? Thanks!

The slides are mounted in the drawer box, and I'm pretty sure the box itself is anchored via mounting points in the cargo area.

Awesome build. Is the box with drawers made of wood or metal? Painted black or coated with a Raptor Liner material? Does your friend make and sell the boxes? Thanks

Thanks! They're wood and lined with some sort of bed liner material. He doesn't do them at any kind of large scale. Mostly for himself and occasionally for friends.

2 questions for ya. 1) is there a way to mount the wench behind the stock bumper, and 2) how’s the hood mounted solar panel working out for ya? I’ve done a camper van conversion and had my solar on the roof. Now I’m wanting to go a little farther off road and would like to keep my roof for kayaks or canoe.

Hey! This is rig has moved on since this video, but with a winch plate a winch shouldn't be an issue. As for the solar panel, it was still fine with minimal pilling after several years of full time use and outside parking.
