    What a fishing challenge! Stocked creek or not, to catch trout on every color in the box in one day is an amazing accomplishment. The Trout Magnet is a top small creek bait for sure. I have no experience with the Trout Magnet SOS line, but after this video I think I’m gonna give it a try in the 6 lb. test. Absolutely a fun video to watch! Much appreciate your effort. - Tennessee Smoky

    You should try using 10 lb braid, then use the sos 6lb as a leader... I use to spool up my reel with straight fluorocarbon, let me tell you, it will change your life. If you hate curly line and want to cast further and smoother, give it a try. Just tie the lines directly to each other, like you would a fly line.

CANADA , I have seen a lot of fishing in my 6o years but the care you show when you release the fish is refreshing and commendable, because of this I have just subscribed to your channel. I wish more people would follow your example, and not keep the fish out of the water as they drone on and on about this or that, especially in hot weather, However you need to get a big boy net L.O.L.

  • @NRVOutdoors

    @NRVOutdoors

    4 жыл бұрын

    That's a difficult questuon.. I'd say the best way is to watch your line and rod for any movement. The fish will swim up and because it has no hands its forced to feel your bait with its mouth. So if you feel anything through your line or rod it's most likely a fish. My rule is when in doubt set the hook, aka jerk the rod. Placing your index on the line will also assist you in feeling a bite. Good luck and most importantly HAVE FUN!!

    Great video as always! That little private stream has some true hatchery beasts in it, are they triploid genetics or do they breed tout that can naturally reproduce in that system? Trout magnet products are unavailable in Canada for the most part so I fish with Seaguar Salmon/Trout/Steelhead 4 lb leader material. I've caught a 3 lb Rainbow with it and I have flipped 2 lb fish from high banks and boats without having breakoffs. I swear Seaguar has a higher breaking strength than what it's rated for because I've seen guys catch 7 - 10 lb Steelhead and even Pink Salmon in the same size range on the same 4 lb test. At some point I have to order some SOS direct from Leland's and give it a try as well. I'm not convinced it will outperform Seaguar in any way, but I'm still curious to see if it works as well, and hey, if it does outperform Seaguar I'll be pleasantly surprised!

    When the water is stained for a lengthy period of time "a day or 2" the fish can be very difficult to catch. However locating them can be easy. Simply look for places that have minimal to no current with maximum depth or a Eddie/current break. These areas will be holding 90% of the fish in that area so take your time and fish them thoroughly. Also try using very dark colors such as black because in stained water dark colors cast a shadow that fish can key in on easily. Good luck!

    Unfortunately casting distances can be rather short with the tmag. Many add a few split shots but I prefer the slip bobber rig for extra long casts.

    8lb for trout is kind of the border of too much. 6lb is the sweet spot and I can guarantee you can catch over 20” toads. I even used 2lb to cast micro jigs and caught 22” bows. The key is to have your drag loose and re-tie your knots after fighting big ones.

    Can confirm. 8lb is too heavy, and 4lb works, but a net is almost a requirement. Super fun to fight on light line though!

    You got good fishing in PA. Get a map and find the thin blue lines. I recommend a 4wt back packing fly rod to launch the mini trout magnets. Pack a couple of Daiwa Presso Vega .4g Spoons as well.

    iv used 4 to 6 pound test and 10 and iv got tones of huge trout and small mouth with it it don't matter the pound test you use but how good your knot is and how much you retie between cast and catching that you won't lose fish the knot is key and leaders

    6lb line? Why? Trout Magnets fish best under 2 or 4 lb line and , if handled correctly, any trout can be landed on 4 lb line. Nice fishing anyway.
