This is quite possibly the coolest groove to jam on ever! Led Zeppelin used it and so did Traffic, to name a couple. Stick to D Dorian or D minor pentatonic for this!

Ultimate Traffic Style Psychedelic Jam (D Dorian - 110 BPM)
Your goal as a soloist is to create MELODY. Our neck diagrams give you the notes you can use to create that melody in REAL TIME. Think of the Diagrams as 3 layers of information:
1. PENTATONIC - The pentatonic scale works all the time and almost never changes, so this is the basic level.
2. MODE - The mode will always be the pentatonic PLUS 2 NOTES (modes have 7 notes). The mode can change depending on the chords (modal interchange).
3. CHORD - The chord layer shows you the notes of the chord changes (aka the HARMONY) in REAL TIME. Outgoing notes get smaller and fade out, incoming notes will fade in, so you know what notes to go for next.
In our app AlphaJams (currently in Beta), you will be able to control which layer you see, and how much of the neck you see. It should be out in the next few months, so please stay tuned!

Okay so I wasn't going to play to it at first but I just sat and totally zoned out playing that s*** I should have been born a teenager in the 70s man that is the greatest feeling I think I've had all year thank you for putting that out I will be playing to it daily! I really got a chance to work on my rhythm I love it

@@nowyoushred the 1(minor 7) to 4(maj7) chord riff is common however steve winwood being awesome plays the rhythm in a particularly interesting/unique way. carole king "its too late" is very similar too.
I’d love to hear other people jamming over tracks like this .. I’m a product of the 80s/90s raised on these sounds from the funk to the rock side ….be cool to hear what older cats come up with and the young guns who haven’t a clue about the old school 😂

It means its an Em chord but with a D note in the root instead of an E note, if that helps at all, quite common in blues as it kinda helps as a step up to the next chord, an example for you try is playing an E7 and then adding the Third fret on the low E string to create an E7/G before playing an A7, thats the most common use i’d say. Sorry for the essay haha probably went over board w the explanation
