Kind of odd, but the thumbnail for this video is my guitar, I know because I've never seen this pattern on any other guitar. It's funny because I just bought it in April, which is how old this video is. It's an ESP MII USA. Got it from wild west guitars. Anyway, I love this backing track and have been jamming to it on the guitar from this thumbnail! 🤘🤘 Thanks for the great tracks, been using them for a few years now.. just subscribed (sorry for that, thought I was already)

The hirajoshi/akebono scale fits really well with this, if you play it from the "G minor" sort of position which kind of creates a major feel since this is in c minor even though the hirajoshi scale is just a pentatonic scale.

Not a lot of talk about the Ab that should say Bb. Tells you how many of us are just doing a pentatonic solo lol. I'm usually guilty of ignoring the chords myself.

It's C dorian, and dorian is a minor mode, so the song is in C minor. C dorian and G aeolian share the same notes, but it's incorrect to say the song is in G minor in the same way that it's incorrect to say the song is in Bb ionian or Bb major (which also has the same notes as C dorian). The key of the song is named after the chord that feels like "home" which is C minor in this case.

No sir "A Sharp/A#" is half step up from "A", while "A Flat/Ab" is half step down and, Ab is the enharmonics of G# meaning different name with the same tone, same with A# and Bb😊

Correct, although it'd be Bb major. A# would be A#, B#, C##, D#, E#, F##, G##. Nobody wants to read in that.

Maybe anyone can help me out? Why is it the C Dorian scale??? I´d simply play the C minor scale over it...... And the Ab should be Bb.....? I am confued...

Because the 4 chord of the progression is F major instead of F minor, A note is the major 3rd interval of F. In C natural minor you'd have an Ab, which would be minor 3rd of F and the progression would have F minor instead. And you're right, the Ab chord is Bb flat, probably a typo.

I am sure that "Ab" you have shown is supposed to be an "A sharp"... other than that confusing mistake visually, it's a great jam.

Why is the F chord not minor? I looked up the chords of C natural minor and it says the F is minor. Can anyone explain please?

The chords don’t have to be diatonic, each chord, depending on each starting note, has a place within the scale, and each place has a recommended chord, in a minor key, the 4, which is the F in this case, is minor, but in order to add more flavour, variety and unexpectedness, they can play it major, outside of the diatonic harmony, hope that made sense. Basically, it’s intended for a more interesting listening experience.

The harmony is C Dorian, the second mode in the key of Bb major, so A natural is included rather than Ab. That also applies to the chord near the end listed as Ab which is actually Bb.

If anyone’s wondering you can just play Gm pentatonic over this and focus on the c notes
