Ultimate Tone & Playability! - Sadowsky MetroLine Will Lee Signature 5-String Bass Demo

Sadowsky MetroLine 22-Fret Will Lee Artist Line, Swamp Ash Body, 5-String - Solid Black Satin
Roger Sadowsky's goal has always been to further improve an already very successful bass design by making a number of detailed improvements. Along with the electronics, which he himself developed, Roger succeeded in raising the well-known J/J bass sound to a new level, so much so that today we describe the Sadowsky tone as never harsh or shrill sounding, featuring strong and powerful (but never muddy) bass, present but not too aggressive mids and a sweet and airy treble range. You can find this modern bass sound in Will Lee’s signature Sadowsky MetroLine bass.
Will Lee is recognized as one of the best and most requested bass players in the world, having played on the Late Show with David Letterman and with Horace Silver, George Benson, Bette Middler and many more. The 5-string version of his signature Sadowsky MetroLine Bass, seen here in a Solid Black Satin finish, features a sleek undersized J-Style American swamp ash body, a J/J pickup configuration, active electronics with true bypass, a custom preamp built to Will Lee’s personal specifications featuring a mid-boost (500 and 800 Hz) for more punch, Vintage Tone Control, treble and bass boost, ultralight Sadowsky tuners and the special Sadowsky quick string release bridge. The smaller profile neck is fitted with a maple fingerboard. The Will Lee Artist Model is made exclusively in our workshop in Germany. All Sadowsky MetroLine basses weigh approximately 8.9 lbs (4.0 kg), making them the perfect choice for bass players who are looking for a lightweight solution for the stage that also offers a modern bass sound.
This video features a detailed review and demo by Lars Lehmann, showcasing the bass's incredible features, including the quick release Sadowsky bridge, Just-A-Nut III, lightweight design and innovative electronics with true bypass. Whether you are a professional player or a bass enthusiast, the Sadowsky MetroLine Will Lee Signature Bass is a must-have addition to your collection!

    Hi Lars, another great demo. What a great finish, AND with a maple fretboard, wowsa. I love all the details with the Sadowsky’s; the bridge idea is just one example of how Sadowsky does it right. The quick access, back panel with dip switches-clever, but not just for clever’s sake. And that string tree (the “Sadowsky string-forest") at the headstock, what a thing! I only have the Sadowsky hoodie for now-but, one day!

    I would say the midboost switch. That can be very helpful when playing with two guitars. Stay safe and well Lars & keep Rocking. Signed John Zepbass Gregory from Munster Indiana. U.S.A.

    Debating between the J/J (alder) and the Will Lee. The J/J sounds so beautiful (dare I say delicious) in Lars' videos. How does the Will Lee (with mid boost not turned on) compare tonally with the J/J which seems so capable of subtle and beautiful tones in Lar's expert hands. Also, does the Will Lee produce any hum? Thanks.

    Sadowsky "just a nut": wasn't it Warwick property??? 🤔

  • @SadowskyInstrumentsOfficial

    @SadowskyInstrumentsOfficial

    7 ай бұрын

    Hi there! Indeed! The Just A Nut is a patented design developed by Warwick. Roger Sadowsky and Warwick joined forces in 2020 and Warwick is producing the MetroLine, MasterBuilt Series and some of the Sadowsky custom shop basses under supervision of Roger Sadowsky, as well as supervising and QCing the production of the MetroExpress line. Sadowsky NY is focussing exclusively on the production of custom made instruments since that. As a result of that partnership the German and chinese made Sadowsky basses feature a version of the original Warwick Just A Nut, called the Sadowky Just A Nut III, which has a more narrow and classic design compared to the Warwick Just A Nut III.
