Nice video. I think most people just grab the filters at Walmart and other places like ya'll said, thinking that a water filter was a water filter, and they were all the same. Thanks for bringing the issue into the light. I figure a lot of folks, after seeing this will start looking at the filter systems. If all they use water system for is to bath and wash dishes, doesn't make that much difference I guess, but if drink it or cook with it, might be a good idea to get a better filtration system. Thanks again, guys. God bless ya'll and stay safe on the road.

We recently switched from Clear2O to ClearSource with .05 microns as the smallest filter. We also have an Acuva ultraviolet water purifier that is inline to our water dispenser in the fridge and a faucet over the sink for drinking water. We use an On-the-Go water softener. We are definitely interested in your experience with Blu because the form factor will likely fit in our water bay so we don’t have to have it outside the rig. The ClearSource is a really big solution, pretty heavy, and a PITA to pack up and carry around. Looking forward to your updates.

I use the best in line clear water 1 micron filter. Then use the affordable ZeroWater Filter 22 cup drinking water dispenser system. The replacement filters are $15 ea and when you buy 4 to 6pack it goes to $10. Original investment is 30,00. And i use an average of 5 filters per year.

🎉🎉🎉🎉 We have been using Blue Tech for 7 months now. And, love it. Great taste, great water flow, and safe water. We also use a water softener but not Blue Tech….not yet anyway. The water softener will also protect the water heater anode rods as they last longer.

And they're made right here in Michigan. The only filter I have right now is the big one in a canister like you showed but I have been investigating a more robust system. I think I'm going with this one. Why? I like the compact size and the stainless steel hoses and fittings. Although brass is not too bad it will corrode over time and get a little rough thereby wearing o-rings. I talked to these guys at the Tampa show and the 3 cartridges are $55 and need to be replaced about every 3 months they said. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

Thanks for the informative video, I was looking for a solution to the problem of hauling so much bottled water on my RV trips. The current trip is only a week long, but I hauled 4.5 gal of water, mostly for coffee, plus some small bottles for drinking away from the trailer. I have been using the obligatory CAMCO blue cylinder and want better quality water. The water weight/cost is starting to cut into my beer supply. Something had to go, and as an old retired widower, it wasn't going to be the beer! Thanks for the 5% discount that I received from these folks with my order. Their sale price for this completely stainless model is $100.00 below the cost of the blue plastic and stainless unit sold on AMAZON, before my discount.. A really good deal for me. I enjoy your videos, and your no BS approach; and subscribed finally . Travel safely and have fun.

Just hit our 2 year full time anniversary on Sunday. We watched a lot of full time videos before we left since we had only been weekend warriors for 20 years. I knew all about campground water! We always brought jugs from home for us and pups. We saw you guys and some others had the clear2o. We loved it! At first. It really does do a good job but we kept loosing pressure. The worse the water was the faster we lost pressure because the filters clogged. So they for sure did their job but couldn’t afford to keep replacing the filters! And the lid cracked 6 months ago and they did send me a new one for free which was awesome. We still use the big dirt guard as our main 20 micron dirt filter in hopes to keep our other filters clean. When it breaks finally we will just use one of the blue ones that we bought when the green ones wouldn’t give us pressure anymore. So we did lots more research on all brands and decided to go with clear source 3 stage with virus guard and also the on the go water softner. We love the system. It wasn’t cheap but I can drink it. And we drink a lot of water! I would have to buy way to much so the system was worth it. We fit the outside version with metal case and one side is totally solid which faces out. We push it under the rig a bit and also bike lock that and the softner to the frame. Then when we leave they both fit right in the compartment and if we go. I went with the virus guard even though it was a bit more money but it goes down way lower than any other I have seen. I wanted to verify the microns because for some reason they don’t post it. I remember having to ask before we bought it. The box for filters might say but I don’t have it anymore. But they Emailed me right back and the virus filter is 0.01 microns. So we use.. our old green clear2o first 20 micron then our 3 stage clear source 5 micron, 0.5 micron and 0.01. I’ll attach some pics. Don’t have one on rig we are traveling but can take it when we arrive if anyone wants. But I’ll attach screenshot from their site if anyone wants to see it. We are super happy with it and it’s been 1.5 years. Flow never changes and filters last much longer. So worth it for us. And customer service has been on point!! Even yesterday when I sent a email to ask microns Of virus guard. Your system looks awesome too. Can’t wait to hear how you like it. I like that’s it’s smaller. And love the connections!! We have stainless on the clear source but we cheaped out with plastic quick connects. Gonna look for the ones you guys have. They look fantastic!! Worth the money!!

We had a Forest River factory filter with a pretty decent filter cartridge for about 7 years. Two years ago we bought our current rig (Grand Design Reflection 315RLTS) and from the get go installed a ClearSource Ultra filter. I added my own soldered copper pipe fitting to it so that we could install into our storage bay end wise, right next to the Nautilus wet bay. Makes it so easy to connect both the input and output fittings from standing on the outside (within arms reach) and have had zero problems with water on our many travels. We are still vacationers, spending about 30 nights a year in the unit. We have seen the cost of filters go from $50 to $70 per set. One set lasts us for the year, but if full timing thinking we’d need 3-4 sets… so cost of filters will be an operating cost factor. Thinking your smaller filters are probably not half the cost, so you may have higher filter costs on an annual basis? ClearSource Ultra goes down to .5 micron. The unit is about $500 to buy, same as Blu so we don’t plan to change. We don’t get a free one like you guys do! Am interested in the softener, but my wife says has not been an issue yet. Love your channel and you both! Thank you for addressing water quality for your followers. Very important.

I have the Clear Source Ultra with Virus Guard. 0.5 microns. Then I have a Pro Aqua Pro water softener. I also added an APEC Reverse Osmosis and the Acuva UV filter. These are all permanently installed inside my fifth wheel. I also installed this system so that the water goes through the triple filter then water softener and then into the fresh water tank. I swapped the quick connects that you are using to cam lock quick connects, these are industrial grade, same type of quick connects used for refueling trucks, aircraft, etc. totally delighted with my system. The Clear source is a much taller filter, which is a disadvantage for size and storage, but the filters won’t require changing as often. So I simply connect the water from the city to the rv because my system is permanently installed. No worry about freezing, heat, time to setup or theft.

When you were in the Navy, what did you filter the sea water down to before you gave it to the crew to drink and to use in cooking. These kinds of things can become a numbers game taking things beyond reasonable and prudent. I don't want to invest is a 0,02 micron filter if a 0.1 is all that makes sense. The Navy has probably determined what level of filtration makes sense!!

We use the blue Camco filter. Why? The quality of campground water is regulated by the municipal water system. It is subject to strict standards and testing. The thing we are worried about is scale, rust, and other debris from systems that may have to recover from events like being winterized or the occasional lack of use. The Camco serves that purpose. I don’t have a system like that in my house so why in my RV?

  • @yaseminsmith6884

We love our Clear2O and Dirtguard and been using for a couple years. Our water has been much improved and based on your previous recommendation. As for this system, not all Rvers get a free product to review and can afford to invest in a $400+ product. The Blutech filters are half the size, so this means half the capacity. Changing filters more frequently, thus more cost. We use a OntheGO softener and haven't had any issues. Your RV water tank is plastic, do you sanitize it? If your concern about plastic is true, aren't you re-contaminating the filtered water by putting it in your tank? Sorry, this video sounds like the home shopping network.

The water tank in the RV will really only be used for when you're boondocking and you shouldn't be drinking from that. So drinking water would have to be some other source entirely. This is really only going to be used when you have water hookup at a campground.

Just a heads up. When you are hooking up to the campsite or any spicket. Turn it on and let a couple gallons flush out the spicket. You woulden't belive the nastey water I have seen come out. Better to have that first slug of yuck on the ground than in your filters. By the way Happy Easter to you!

Why the filter before the softener? I prefer to keep filter stack in the RV so it doesn’t freeze but that means the softener comes before the filters. Also, like to keep my pressure regulator inside as well because how do you keep it from freezing outside? I get “go somewhere warmer” but we don’t have that option.

I just found your videos. Y'all are alot of fun to watch. I have a stupid question. Wouldn't it be better to put the water softener before the filter system? That way it takes out the minerals and such and the filtration system has less to filter out. Maybe making the filters last longer. Believe me I'm am not mechanically inclined so if this is dumb just say so. It won't hurt my feelings. Lol

Thanks again for another quality, informative video. The question I have is doesn't the the "TASTY" granulated charcoal filter compact from the pressure of the water flow and thus allow the water to flow through virtually unfiltered in this phase? Is there a solid charcoal filter option? Thank you both for your service!

Flow thru the filter is based on incoming pressure and surface area of filter and micron size removal. I reached out to blu tech and mobile must have this is their reply From Blu Tech: In our lab tests, we see around 2.4-2.6 GPM of flow 60 PSI head pressure with our full bundle system, meaning all the hoses, the filters, and water softener. We generally see about a 10% drop in pressure through filters from the source flow rate. For a typical household/RV 1.6-2.0 GPM is a good water pressure, which is restricted down to that by the plumbing system itself. We optimized our system for city inlets, so we do have a lower flow rate than some competitors for freshwater filling. The flow rate will be higher than this when using our filtration systems with garden hoses. It is for city water, well water, or other pressurized sources. With a standard 3/4" Garden hose attached the system would flow 5.5 GPM at 60 PSI.

Not a visual way to tell, unless you are checking the filter and notice it has stuff in it. You will probably notice the taste isn't the same as it was when you first connected the system.
