Very useful, in fact a pretty _ultimate_ guide indeed! Thank you! -- I usually set my Nikon into "Sport" mode. What it gives is automatically fastest shutter and the series of shots on the button press - usually 3 or more - so in the post-production I can choose the best one of the series. I strongly recommend using the series! It helps very much when, say, you want the sun to be exactly covered by a building or your buddie's wing/body as your flyby. The series add multiple time in post-processing, but help a lot. Usually all pics in series have different horizon, one being "horizontal". Also sometimes it is nice to watch the series as an "animation". -- Very good advise on the cameras! Whatever you choose, I suggest to be sure the camera is one-hand operated (as you may need to keep the throttle and one toggle in your other hand for positioning) -- Gloves are critical, when you fly with gloves! As you don't want to take them on and off all the time in the air, the gloves must let you operate the camera (at least to feel the release button!) -- Also I would add: you need a good case for your camera to always store it on take-off and landing and not just let it hang on your neck (bad landings happen, and sometimes on the belly!). -- Another piece of useful advice is to keep a spare battery and SD card in your case (quite a few times left the card at home after processing and forgot to charge the camera...). It is not impossible to insert the battery/card into the camera up there - and your day is saved!

These are great points! - The series suggestions is a good one that I use sometimes! - One thing I should have mentioned is the usefulness of cruise control throttle for taking photos - I can operate my camera with my thickest heated gloves on, but yes a good point to check it can be done - I don't take a case because of the added hassle and weight. But some people may prefer it - Yes I do take spare batteries with me too.

Great video Mark, well done! Two more tips: - hold your breath as you press shutter button, this allows for less shake and sharper photos - take two / three photos if you see something really interesting, one of those will be sharper than the others so that will be a keeper

Look into buying a NAS. I personally use an old PC and put all my raw footage older than one year on that.

Great video! Just what i was looking for. Lightroom seems to do a great job of managing and editing photos. Editing has always been a little pain for me, maybe because of the free softwares.

Lightroom is great, but I don't like the subscription model and I'm always looking for ways to get out from paying that but nothing else is as good.

I used to take up the Sony 35mm but then wanted a zoom. So I've switched to the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 which is a magnificent lens, super sharp and fast.

Mate, brilliant video. At last an explanation of how to use editing suites. Still, not sure I can manage taking off with a camera hanging off my neck!

Great video mark. I've chosen to go with the sony rx100 because of the compact design. But what version would you recommend? the V or the VI/VII model. I'm wondering if the zoom difference between the models will be the deal breaker. I'm a totally newbie photographer so i don't know a hole lot ;) - Thanks again for great content.

I would just do a comparison of the specs and decide based on whether you want it for just photos or video too. I haven't owned this camera so can't advise based on experience.

How do you strap the camera so it doesn't bounce during launch and landing? Should it be inside a bag for protection?

Hello Mark how's things going wondering if you can help me I'm using same headset as you but audio is terrible done all that Eddie has told me to do but still no good it's when I turn my head I get a very bad engine noise I'm thinking of ppg smoke headset as its very good noise cancelling but I'm told you use another nice direct to camera what would you recommend I use the dji action 3 with 3.5mm adapter my mate mick Collins has ppg headset and enging noise is so low but want same with my pm100 set thank you mark and hope to see you at parafest or Banbury pmc

I don't use the headset for audio. I just bought a cheap lav mic from Amazon and connected it to my GoPro directly. You're right the headset audio isn't great for videos. I remove engine noise in video editing. I will be at pmc and parafest see you there.
