I took my mom to Costa Rica and we spent 4 perfect days exploring La Fortuna and a ton of waterfalls, jungles, and hot springs. We stayed at the stunning Amor Arenal, went on a coffee and chocolate tour, explored Arenal 1968 and dipped into a natural hot spring fed river. We saw toucans, monkeys, olingo and a ton of birds and wildlife.

The 1990s when my dad was still mobile enough. He was in his early 70s and we had gone mushroom picking in the mountains near Wilkes-Barre, PA. Both of my parents died in 2013.

Last summer in upstate NY I went hiking with my Mom on a trail near Indian lake. It was very magical! And my Dad and I watched a fox trot by in front of us a we relaxed in Adirondack chairs on the edge of the lake. It was the first time we had been back there in 25 years. Epic trip!

My last adventure with my Dad was in Florida..He passed away when he was 36 from SLE Lupus Renal Failure. Our last trip was very memorable..He took me snorkeling and a mamma and baby dolphin swam under us..He also picked up a pink seahorse and handed it to me. I will never forget that day. He grew up in Fort Lauderdale Florida, so he loved to go deep sea fishing. My Mom isn't as adventurous lol but she visited me recently in Montana and I made her go to Glacier National Park. I love to hike and she thinks I need to make hiking t-shirts that say "it's not that far" since that's my favorite thing to say when hiking with her, my husband and kids lol.

This was an once in a life time kind of trip you did with your Mom. You are both blessed with these memories forever that many of us don't press pause on life to take to do. I'll guess you're a pretty incredible woman. Congrats to you and Mom.

My husband's friend moved from Texas to Costa Rica and never came back..He used to do fishing tours..Now he owns a hotel there..I would love to go there and see the ocean and wildlife..Oh and try the coffee and chocolate! :) Glad you were able to take a fun trip with your Mom!

It’s great that you both enjoyed our country. Thanks for sharing our county’s beauties. You will always be welcome to come again. There are a lot more of places to visit as Nauyaka Waterwalls, Rio Celeste, Tortuguero National Park that is our version of the Amazon River but with much more biodiversity, Corcovado National Park that is called by National Geographic as the world’s most biodiverse place in the entire world, and many more places. Pura vida!

Costa Rica is an ecologically sensitive country compared to others in Central America. Nice views, especially the volcano. Time spent in good company is never wasted, and time that goes by never comes back. Make the best out of it and Costa Rice is sure a good destination. Thanks for sharing. 🇨🇷💦🌋🌅

That hot river was definitely one of our favorite parts. Luckily the trail to get to it was quite short so my mom was bike to scramble down with her canes

Yes it’s so massive
Just for you to know the name of the volcano that you visit first is Poás (so sorry but the way you pronounce it is totally wrong 😂 no offense), it is located in the Alajuela province (the one where is located the main airport of the country the Juan Santamaria Airport), the trip to get there by car takes around 1 hour, and the entrance price is $16.95 for people over 13 years old but it is definitely an amazing experience you will never forget.
