Ready to take your Tough Mudder experience to the next level!? Upper body strength and cardio endurance are two crucial factors when training for these types of events. This training program is going to help you not only build the strength you need to finish, but help you avoid injuries as well.
The workout consists of cardio, two training circuits and a cool-down and you can perform this routine 3 - 4 times week. The exercises were designed to simulate many of the obstacles that are on the course.
If you struggle with any of the exercises, we have modifiers at the end of the video that you can use to help you build up your strength.
Remember, the Tough Mudder consists of running short distances and then completing a challenging obstacle. Not all courses are the same. Some are very flat, and some are up and down hills / mountains. With that in mind, check out the terrain of the course you will be competing on to ensure you know what you are in for.

(1:08)- HIIT Cardio (High Intensity Interval Training)
• 1 minute walk / jog for recovery
• 30 seconds running as fast as you can

Another great Video Scott . I like your normal and friendly approach . I've done 4 mud runs in 2014 in the U.K. . Already planning my next ones . I like your tips for the wall . The longest one I did was a 10 mile called pain and suffering . Tough course and about 8 walls to contend with on last mile

This was a really good video! can I ask can you do the tough mudder if you have asthma? I stopped training a little under a year a go due to the realisation my asthma is not going and I would not be able to get in to the military. I would love to get back in to training and the tough mudder seems like a good thing to work towards!

Thank you for this video. Two of my friends and my self are gonna see if we can make our very first tough mudder half and we only have until July 14th to train for it. I my self hv just started my fittness back into my life I'm 6'2" 235pounds 27 years old about 16-20% body fat.
Hey bro I’ve been training for this all year, I’ve been doing my normal workouts and then doing a lot more cardio, I have a week before my race in Las Vegas when do you stop and rest or do you just keep exercising do the obstacle or do you give yourself a four-day period of no exercising

How many times a week should I do it? I have a toughest event in five months that I want to do because it's before army and everything! :) Edit: On the jumping lounges, do I do 15 of them on each leg? My friend is telling me this and that would be 30 reps wouldn't it?

Well to be honest, I see people of all ages doing them and you work with a team on the obstacles. Will you carry Tom Cruise on your back ? Just kidding, nice video Scott. ;) I did my first Spartan Race (sept 14 - France, Paris edition) we don't have Tough Mudder yet, I would love to join one. I'll use your workout to prepare my GF and myself for the next one. You're right, gears are important, get a nice pair of shoes (I have the Reebok all terrain) It may cost a lot but you don't want to suffer from it for 2hours or more. Next time I will go shirtless cause the shirt gets too heavy to carry. ;) Don't hesitate to register guys, it's a perfect group experience and a lot of fun !!!

To be honest.. I was sick for like 4 days straight and then had 2 days to "fill in" before this video. I lost a bit of muscle and fat from being sick... but I guess it worked out for the video.. but hate being sick :/
this kind of event sounds like hella fun, is it an american thing only?
I weigh 152 pounds and I'm 5'10" and no matter how hard I try I cant get ripped... I try to eat healthy but I don't have the money and I don't know if working out is actually working out for me even though I love it. What should I do?
