    since when is an octagon squarish? Also you are comparing super ideal diamonds to a regular ideal princess cut, not quite equivalent

    Show her this video. She may decide the risk of breakage at the corners isn't worth the risk of a princess cut. Or you may decide on a pendant, which isn't going to get the hard wear that a ring does. In any case, discuss it with her.
