Is there any option to buy only 1 or 2 tickets for the metro , if i do not want an istanbul card ? any paper ticket in those machines that i can validate at the entrance for the metro ? thanks

I just visited here guys and here's a top tip. For Havaist bus (from airport to city and back) always buy the return ticket at the airport at the same time when buying the departure ticket.

Hi, your videos and travel guides have helped me greatly. I am currently in Istanbul and have a question: When trying to buy my Istanbulcart card… the machine took my 100 TL and but would not let me proceed. It did this twice. Both times the yellow machine told me to take the refund print out and go to an office to get my refund. I just left the IETT office and not only was the person rude, they told me to call 153 which does not work. Can you please tell me what I should do? The broken machine was in Sultanahmet.

I want to take the public ferry from eminonu ferry terminal to kadikoy that costs 8 TL and runs 20 min. I see youtube videos of this so I can recognize the ferry terminal when I get to Istantul. My question is that when I return from kadikoy to eminonu using this ferry how will I know when to get off (I saw a youtube video when a couple got off on the wrong stop but did not say what was the correct stop to get off on). Do they announce the stops or how do you know which one is the Eminonu stop?

You will pay transfer fee which is about half of the price. But it is only available if you have personalized İstanbulkart (recent update of İstanbul Municipality).

Is not for tourists anymore, so don’t bother with that thing anymore, it recently changed to only turkish citizens and residents, not available any longer for cards tourists use.

In Turkey is ILLEGAL being a “guide” without the corresponding license given by the Ministry of Tourism after completing their studies in tour guiding at a university in 🇹🇷. Every guide needs to be certified and have a license, that’s why in 🇹🇷 you won’t find affordable guiding services as in other countries in Europe, like the free walking tours usually given by university students based on tipping. Here being a tour guide as a profession is quite protected by the government.

1. Metro from Sabiha Gokcen Airport is active now (SAW), but unfortunately Istanbul Airport (IST) is not. 2. There is no conflict between the nations, you can feel free to use the airport.

There are large elevators in most stations I've been to. While I'm not disabled myself, and can't speak for them; I can't imagine it being too hard, plus I've seen at least one person in a wheelchair using the elevator.

you don't have to do it if you don't want to. When you enter the metro, you pay the full amount, but since you only go a few stops, they refund your money

Can you explain what you mean at 02:00 about getting a refund leaving the Marmaray using the grey machines? What happens if I don't pass my card over the machine when leaving a Marmaray station?

Since Marmaray suburban train line is very long (76 km) it has a pricing system according to your traveled distance. Because of that, machines first take full length price (76 km) from your card and then if you arrive your destination you can take some of your money back to your card. Since touristic destinations are (most of the time) within 10 or 15 km part of the line, you can take 2/3 of your money back. But if you don't pass your card over the refund machine, it means that you paid the full price. In Dollar it is not a big cost but in Lira, you can take one more metro with the refund.
