"We're Fallout OGs if you don't count the first few games", is one of the most accurate ways to sum up the Fallout community 😂

Hot take: I still haven't played the old games, I want to but I know from trying a couple of times that the isometric-ness and turnnased-ness is too off putting for me. I have however experiences both through many many youtube vids. And while I really appreciate the world building and vibecheck of the OG Fallouts, I prefer the more whimsical Bethesda Fallout 👀OG Fallout is so bleak and dark, and humor or just hidden in between the frankly depressive setting, but the newer Fallouts is more of a theme park ride in the vibe and world setup by the earlier games.

The only reason I know the Vault oriented questions is because I literally just looked up a list of all the canon Vaults a couple days ago, going down a Fallout rabbit hole. The Vault on motorized tracks that randomized all the locations every day would have been awesome. Maybe Andy should try to submit that idea to Bethesda for the next Fallout game. Side question, if you could make a Vault, what would it be? Mine is Vault 404. The residents are all computer experts, but the computers are all made with substandard parts, and nothing works for more than 10 minutes.

Fat Man and Little Boy were the code names of the nukes dropped on Japan. That's what the game is referencing. I'm assuming Mike is half remembering that.
18:04 actually cazadors were created in a lab at Big Mt, they then escaped and flourished in the wasteland 18:32 deathclaws were also developed in a lab and escaped in the aftermath of the Great War and then various experiments were performed on them by various factions
19:26 I'm pretty sure "A Man and His Dog" is a reference to the 1975 movie "A Boy and His Dog" which was a big influence for the Fallout games.

I get tarantula hawk wasps in my backyard sometimes -- you can definitely see that they're the inspiration/origin of cazadores, except only 2-3 inches long (which is _plenty_ big enough for a wasp). Quite pretty, actually -- iridescent blue bodies, gold wings. Oh, and apparently the second-most-painful sting of any known insect, though I'll have to trust the people who've actually been stung.

You're talking about the Schmidt sting pain index, right? Schmidt was an entomologist who rated 78 different species of insects by how painful their sting was, on a scale of 0-4. Only three were given a rating of 4, including the Tarantula Hawk Wasp. He describes the pain as "blinding, fierce [and] shockingly electric". Coming from a man who willingly got stung by by a Bullethead Ant (also a 4) and then came back for more, I'd stay away from that one.
Andy’s quizzes are basically my favourite videos from the channel. I hope we get more of those.
Surprised Mike didn't recognise Vault 21; I loved it as one of the fixtures of New Vegas, and it has an interesting story around Mr. House agreeing to keep part of it open while pouring concrete in to block off the engineering section (where the reactor is, since he is using it to power his tower and most of the city). Also if you spare Benny at the Tops and chase him quickly enough you can get down the locked elevator to see where he's been trying to dig into the secure section of the vault.
The sheer number of cults/gangs in fallout that are a bunch of brutes who don't understand old world entertainment is just hilarious. I want to see what Fallout people think of sports like cricket or volleyball and see a weird cult entirely built around other famous people.

Thank you for including an Interplay era question there.
Margaret (Three Dog's engineer) was the one Mikr was hoping for...personally, though, I was awaiting Sheng Kowalski (the purified water seller in Diamond City that takes over for Travis if he goes down during Confidence Man). But Mike, money isn't always involved in the vault process...the Sole Survivor and their family got the spots because of Nate's "service to the military"; Hilda Egglebrecht (as told by her descendant Agatha...who also could've been featured in the DJ section) received her spot in Vault 92 (the white noise brainwashing) by dint of her violin skills; even Gary (Vault 108) was a simple vault dweller (nothing I've found gives him much backstory, but I doubt he paid to get a spot)...
