    UpCircle’s coffee scrubs are the best exfoliants I’ve ever used! I know everybody shuns physical exfoliants but my skin is very sensitive to AHAs and BHAs. I use UpCircle’s herbal blend coffee scrub. It’s just perfect, it’s abrasive enough that I feel like I’m getting a good scrub but gentle enough that I don’t feel like I’m tearing my face off and it’s buffered with a bunch of lovely oils that really nourishes the skin, my skin is always SO soft afterward never had any negative reactions with it. Plus the smell is to die for! Yum!

    I have dry, dehydrated, and sensitive skin. All the mask wearing has just exacerbated those issues so I had to lay off exfoliating for a while. I have slowly started back up with a PHA exfoliating sleeping pack from Isntree that you can use in place of your moisturizer or put on top. Its been a couple of weeks (on week three!) and so far I have had no irritation and my skin seems to respond well to this gentle exfoliation.

    I love my lactic acid 10% as it is very gentle on my skin. When my skin starts to look dull, I'll use the peeling solution, but I have to be careful to only use hydrating products for 24 hours afterwards. Ironically, one of my favorite items is a round silicone face exfoliators. It is quite soft, but has different sizes of scrubbing beads. I gently massage my cleanser with it for a minute or so and it literally removes any skin patches trying to hand around! The Stratia treatment is the product that caught my eye..... I will be ordering some of their products!!❤️ PS Love your hair, Rob!❤️❤️

I love the St Ives for my back where I have some acne. At the moment, I’m loving the cleanser from face theory (not the pro though). It is one of my favourite products in their line. I have combi dehydrated acne prone sensitive skin 😅 But I looove using two types of exfoliater in my routine once a week. I'm using Dr.G Brightening Peeling Gel and Papa Recipe Eggplant Mud Mask afterwards for the hydration. Since my skin sometimes can be oily especially during summer, I love to mixing up two mud masks, Isntree Mugwort Clay Mask on my T zone and Papa Recipe on the rest of my face. Great thing about Papa Recipe is that it's sooooo soft and hydrating, it doesn't dried up which is perfect for sensitive skin. I don't use acids but might consider adding mandelic acid or lactic acid into my routine.

    My teacher used the same pacman analogy for enzyme exfoliants! Brought me back to my beauty school days 😌💭 Another scrub, very similar to the PC unscrub, is Aveda's exfoliating creme cleanser. It also uses jojoba beads. I don't know how it compares in price, since I got it at a student discount. Not a fan of "all natural" brands, but I love the ethics of their company. I also love their liquid exfoliant (primarily salicylic acid), and alternate it with The Ordinary lactic acid. I didn't notice much improvement from their outer peace pads, but I know many who swear by them (tip: cut them in half; they cost too much not to lol). Their radiant skin refiner on the other hand, should not be retail at all; so easy to go overboard and the granules are a pain in the tuchus to get rid of. I use it in a way that's similar to microdermabrasion once a month. I love my off-brand St. Ives scrub for KP on my arms, and to prevent ingrowns on my legs after epilating. And a scrubby glove on the more sensitive areas, and for the first week after.

    In Southern India, women followed the following skincare routine - 1. Massage skin with oils that contain herbs and provide many benefits 2. Apply a herbal powder face mask 3. When it's semi-dry, massage in gentle circular motions and the flakes fall off 4. Rinse if there's any residue 5. If you have oily skin, you can stop here. People with dry skin massaged a few drops of oil in. This is a good way to double cleanse and physically exfoliate. I do this once or twice every month.

    I like a little of everything (not all at once). I like my silicone cleansing device sometimes as the pulsations seem to help with sinus congestion. Other times I use a hot cloth cleanser to exfoliate gently with the soft muslin cloth. Sometimes I use a glycolic acid toner, or lactic acid serum, About once a month I use the AHA & BHA peel from The Ordinary. However, oone thing I never do now after watching your channel is use a manual exfoliating scrub wash. I used to use one occasionally but your passionate dislike for them put me off. I'm now using that up on my heels, knees and elbows!

    I tried an AHA product after 3 months from starting retinol, and it did burn a bit. So, you might find it hard to back to old products you used to use before retinol. I get more redness from AHAs than before. Also, alcohol containing sunscreens were like fire on my skin! Just avoid anything too harsh for several months and then add back some old products one by one... Don't throw away products that can't be used on your face anymore, just use them on your body😉 I started 1% retinol on April, because I didn't have to go anywhere.

    You seem to be putting out a lot of content. Have you thought about a show about the skin care companies that have donated their profits to charity? Golde just donated their profits from the weekend to help the people in Texas. Glow recipe is about to donate next weekend’s profits to charity. Thrive, milk beauty, nuria all donated their profits to charity at the beginning of the pandemic. Anyway a lot of beauty companies have really stepped up during difficult times. It be nice to showcase it.

    You should review Biologique Recherche Lotion P50, considered the world's best liquid exfoliator. You have to have a skin consultation to use it.

    Hi Luv! 🤗 Is it necessary to use exfoliating acids since I'm using tretinoin nightly?

    Hi Terri, It's Vanessa from Ottawa. I wouldn't recommend exfoliating on top of retinol, it could really increase the sensitivity of your skin. You could consider a gentle exfoliant on nights that you do not use your tretinoin. Hope all is going well with you. Take care 🥰

    Hello Rob, do you think I can use the peptide the Buffet from the ordinary to level up Ph after exfoliating (pixi glow or leave on LA from the Ordinary)? On their website they do not recommend the use with direct acids what do you think?

  • @MadAboutSkin

    @MadAboutSkin

    Hey hun, you can but it may impact the effectiveness of the buffet so I would usually say use a toner or a hyaluronic acid to do the job and then put the buffet on top.. hope this helps xxxx

    I have always used aha’s. Recently tried my paulas choice BHA again & like it now. Help me!! How do I use both?? I used to do retinol, aha, off. Should I use lactic acid in mornings?? Or alternate between aha & BHA? Would bha, retinol, aha, retinol be too much?

    I have been using a 5% lactic acid (not The Ordinary though) on my 40yo combination skin for 6 months with no issues. Would you suggest going to a 10% as I am almost out of my lactic acid and need to repurchase one?

    Honestly the St Ives scrub is still the only thing that really gets the cruddy makeup and dead skin off in the creases around my nose, with any other wash I have to really scrub with a washcloth

    Hey hun, this is a really good point, it depends on the type and the area.. I am planning another video on KP which will cover this.. I will add clarification to this video.. I think scrubs are good for body texture but not always for KP and you need to be mindful so i will clarify that.. If you DM me on Instagram we can discuss your KP and i can help you work out what is best for it xxxx
