I find it funny when a new viewer questions why things happen in videos like them dressing up and because I’m actually thinking about it I have a little chuckle because we just expect these things now and completely overlook the weird stuff 😂

I was really hoping to have James pull an imaginary string and have Barry shout, “there’s a ganache in my boot.” Or Mike exclaim, “To chocolate and beyond!”

@@asiyah7714 I've found the best way is to sift it first so there are no big lumps and mix it to a paste with a little liquid first. Then you can add more, gradually, whisking as you go and it will incorporate nicely. Even better if the liquid has some fat in it (such as cream or whole milk) as the cocoa is fat soluble.

Funnily enough, it's not that unusual. I work in a supermarket and we regularly get people that are dressed up. The two most frequent ones are Batman and a Guerilla - they come in every few weeks 😂

Just for a heart stopping minute, I thought Mike was going to put the tart case in the oven with the beans still in the plastic wrap 😱 okaaay, heat proof cling film... learn something new every day 😂

As a chemistry major I enjoyed the fun fact about cocoa powder the most. Pretty sure I missed some important ganache info while spending a good few seconds being fascinated by a spoon being dipped into a glass of water. Oh this explains so much about making hot chocolate!

That is why I always put a little of the liquid into the powder first, stir it until pasty and then slowly add the rest of the liquid. Like that you can get a smooth drink even with cold milk

Can we have the following: - All 3 normals working together at once vs 1 chef. - The solo chef gets an extra 15 minutes. - 4 course meal - One mandatory dish decided by the judging chef that both teams have to create, but all 3 individuals have to have helped create.

Not sure how to classify, but a menu or a memorization badge can be entertaining. Give them a dish recipe that they've never made before, a night to practice with, and see how well they can replicate it in a challenge without the recipe.

I'm so happy that the classic ultimate battles are back. It's weirdly nostalgic, it's what got me hooked on sorted all those years ago.

These cooking battles make me so freaking happy. Well done gents and grats on the book!

Idea for a battle: revisit a challenge but switch between the contesters recipes. As in, if the battle is between Mike and Barry then Mike would have to make whatever Barry made during the last battle and vice versa (with their own changes and twists of course)

I have a small problem in witch they came with several improvements and problems with Mike’s but none with Barry but mike won so Barry had no chance unless mike failed

😂 Barry literally made the day of any 5-year-old who happened to be in that Supermarket. Who won today? Seriously, if we're taking chocolate dishes, that's like making me choose my favourite child! 🤣

Ebbers: Remembers a chocolate dessert he had five years ago. Me: struggles to remember what he had for dinner a month ago.

I do not own baking beans and I like to bake pie and I've always just used rice. But I usually get a soggy bottom on my crust and I haven't been able to figure out why. Now I know IT TAKES LONGER THAT WAY???? Thank you Mike, for troubleshooting my baking!

The cling film in the oven made me nervous 😬

That Mango looks sadder than me on a bad day. Or as Judi Dench put it as Queen Victoria: “Sir Henry, this mango is off!”

I would love to see the normals get different recipes that they have to adapt to someone with an allergy(or multiple). Since I'm studying to become a baker this is something that has come to a new light for me and a real chef knows how to adapt the cooking for allergies.

As someone who will literally make a batch of yorkshire puddings to eat with insane amounts of gravy, learning that water in the batter makes for a crispier and lighter pudding is something I'm very happy about. Also that cocoa powder is hydrophobic is a new one for me

Idea: Costumed Budget Meals Battle? Make the Normals or the Chefs have to pick a random costume (or one chosen by Patrons) and they have to shop, cook, and present a dish for uhhhh...I'll let them decide the price? Edit: Oh...and they have to wear the costume for the entire battle. Shopping AND Cooking.

they both look like their child wanted to wear a woody/buzz costume for carnival and so they got the adult size of the other one to match their kid lol

Everytime they wear costumes on this show I picture a large TARDIS closet full of different outfits. Don't know why I think this but I do.

For Americans you'll find the Cape Gooseberry marketed as goldenberries, pichu berries, or possibly as Aztec goldenberries. They are tart, citrusy, and a little bitter.

Huttlestoners unite! Keep fighting Mike! Both were drool worthy ^^ Also, was totally singing along w those Pluggy captions lol!!

OHH the way James and Ben segued into where to get the book's and recipes got me on the floor... Really creative guys. I love these challenges, it just goes to show that the normals have learnt a lot over the years...WELL DONE GUYS...

I was not expecting to experience abject terror from a sorted vid, but seeing mike BAKE PLASTIC WRAP really transported me to somewhere like the Upside Down. (Even if it's heat proof, I have to imagine there's some potential chemical leaching/weird flavor/moisture issues.)

A pie crust par bake tip from babish is to use sugar to weigh down the crust then when it's done you have toasted sugar. Use to give a slightly more complex flavor to desserts

My mum came in the room asking why i was watching two grown men cooking in Toy Story outfits and I didn't have an answer.

I would love to see some kind of "tool" badge, where the normal's have to identify weird chef tools from Ben's collection and explain how they are used. Super bonus points if he has a fish knife and somebody mentions that that is how you identify an OLD silver set vs a more modern one. Fish knives didn't exist before the Late Victorian period.

Any information on the new kitchen you mentioned before the pandemic started you could share?
