ULTIMATE BUG OUT VEHICLE "THE FOUNDATION"
Time to start the BUG OUT VEHICLE VIDEO SERIES.
A little over a month ago we asked if there was interest in doing a series on setting up a bug-out vehicle. So today is the first video of the series. We are currently rigging out the BattlBox 6X6 Jeep to be added to the series.
But what about the average everyday driver. Here is the first Vidja of an Everyday driver vehicle Bug Out Build.
You first need to think of a solid foundation for your build. Storage is a premium. These products Currin1776 selected as his foundation. If you have a pickup you're gonna want to check these products out.
We hope you enjoy the Vidja and we hope you continue to follow along with this build and be on the lookout for the 6X6 video. Its gonna be Awesome!
If you want to see a quick install and first impressions of each of these systems, there will be Vidjas on the CURRIN1776 KZread Channel soon.

Great ideas, well thought out! I want one now! All that's missing is a small trailer with big wheels and ground clearance to carry other things, or a teardrop one to sleep in. I'd add a small dirt bike so when the truck breaks down you can ride to get help or parts etc., or explore on a small amount of gas.
I love this build! The only thing I would want to change is the truck color- that red sticks out like a sore thumb in the woods or any other place for that matter. I would wrap that truck in matte black it would be good to go! Other than the color, I would be happy to have that vehicle!!

Always keep some spray paints,GR ,tan brown, G2G 👌
Yeah bright Red wouldn't be my first choice. But ya gotta use what you have, not everyone can just go buy a new truck. Good video.
My everyday vehicle/bug out vehicle is named Bessy the Suburban, she's big on the inside and outside, she's reliable, she's 4wd, and she's got a 36 gallon tank.

Man I really miss my Suburban it had the 55 gallon fuel tank, and I could get damn near 700 miles on a tank, well I bet I could have gotten the full 700 miles if I wasn't such a lead foot, and riding the governor everywhere I went.

Bugging out with Rebba would be awesome. The truck would be alright to, I guess. 🙂
I'm late to this bbq, but better late than never to comment.😁 I live in NJ and what I have done is, carry a bug out pack in each of my vehicles. Depending on the season, I pack accordingly. Plenty of water, non perishable nutritional snacks, tourniquet, IFAK, and cash. Backpack weighs 20 lb if I need to walk. Jumper cables, flares, flashlight, empty 5 gal. gas can, wool blanket, socks, clothing, stay in a sealed bag/container in the vehicle. You get my point. Great content btw. 👍
Dude, one of the best adventure vehicle walkarounds Ive seen! Greatly aporeciate that you took the time to open things up and share the details. Great video and your truck is looking great!
That ‘Foundation’ you were talking bout is amazing! I didn’t even know half this shit existed. Looks like you put a lot if thought into it. Great Job 👍🏼
iv'e read alot of the comments, and to me this is exactly what i have been looking for. I imagine it costs alot. But I love having my tools and gear with me because i like to go on trips or just get away at the spur of the moment. as it is now i have an extended cab, and ive lost part of that room do to keeping bug out stuff there and i have bed box in the back filled to the gills . For me this setup would be awesome. Thx for sharing looking forward to more videos

No, that's just _your_ bug out vehicle. Smh
Bought a 98 Ranger brand new back in 98. After 22 years of being my work horse, it's getting a make over with: 3" lift, 33s with steel rims sporting 12.50 wide mudders, 1/2 ton Kargo Master holding 4 5 gal jerry cans, a 3x5 basket, and some recovery gear, a hitchgate for my spare, a steel big ass bumper holding my winch and light bar, and some back up lights bright enough to scare Bigfoot. A spray on bed liner with plywood mini cabinets holding a bed to sleep my 100# wife and me will keep us dry under my canopy. Added some small solar panels to power my Yeti to have some light when needed. If I pull my 5x8 cargo trailer, I can fill it with more necessities like ammo and food.
Well played Bro, Thank you for your video you're much appreciated. Better safe than sorry. You covered the 6 "Ps" as I learned in The US Army. Proper planning prevents piss poor performance ! Your rock solid.
Nice no one would ever see that truck hiding in the bushes
The bottle opener and cup holders sold me on the decked system
The ultimate vehicle in my humble opinion is a pre ECU diesel! Fuel is fairly easy to make or come bye and then theirs always a gasifier which I have friends who've built and driven vehicles using this technique 1600 miles and they've passed on their knowledge to me & my associates
I appreciate your insight of the gears and I will be checking those companies out. I was looking for a bug out equipment I can put into my truck and the way yours is made gave me a great idea thanks and I will be checking those manufacturers.
I'm impressed. Very well laid out and planned.
Great setup. I only thing I would change was the color
Nice rig. My F350 is named Matilda, we call her Tilly for short. She's been a great truck and has taken me coast to coast while towing a 29 foot trailer.

Whoa...my parents had a 1969 Ford station wagon with the exact same name and nickname.
Hell Pecker Yeah ! That's what I'm talking about!
I personally want to build a Tahoe or Suburban adventure/bug out vehicle. Basically the same capability offroad as a truck, but the majority of my stuff can be kept INSIDE the vehicle. I dont have to worry about weatherproof boxes, or even getting out to get into those boxes... I can just climb back and have access to it all. People looking at it just think its another tahoe with dark tinted windows. These truck systems are cool, but they show everyone "Hey, this person has a bunch of stuff/supplies" Trucks like these are highly visible rolling loot boxes. An SUV can look like a soccer mom car but actually be a rolling base camp.
Hell yeah that rooftop tent is badass, but I'm paralyzed so it wouldn't do me much good but it's super cool! That whole rack system is really cool!
That is a great setup you have and expensive. Don't get me wrong you get what you pay for and this is great but not many people can afford this setup. The tent and it being raised really has my eye though.

Good video. Reba is well thought out. Betty White (my ‘16 Silverado) is set up with an ARE CX HD camper shell which has the internal aluminum frame and can carry #500lb on the roof as my platform. I have the toolboxes and solid doors on each side which act like the XL gear pod you’re showing here. King shocks, 35” bfgs, 14 gallon fuel cells (harbor freight), tools and such round out the baseline that I roll with. Don’t forget a gmrs and ham radio in the cab ;) Always liked the Leitner design stuff and haven’t seen a video that puts the features to function like this. Good work.
I wanted a "decked" drawer system for my truck, but they don't make an 8' version. Their solution is 6' drawers with dead space up front. I built my own.
@84greenbear

It's easy to build your own. And probably cheaper too.
Can't say I'm too much of a truck guy, more about building small fast cars, but I'd love to have a set up like Reba. Very nice!
With all of those accessories this guy spent well over $7,000 on the bed storage. That's insane.

This should be put on a trailer. The stuff on this truck is cool. But that is all it is.
Gonna need a cow catcher to get through the zombie hords ;)
Ooh the color? easy to target from miles away!
This is a pretty frickin awesome vidja right here.. I watched it all the way and enjoyed it truly, thanks for showing us Reba.
Great setup, thanks for the tour.
It's always good to experience new equipment and ideas. I watched and enjoyed this video.
Remember aim for his bright red fuel cannisters
I had a 1971 Deuce and a Half, multi fuel that was cool to play with and all kinds of manly but my 1991 Ford Festiva will be my bug out vehicle.
I really suggest the Westin HDX grille guard. With or without the winch mount. It’s a cheaper alternative to a a full steel bumper. It’s bolt and is rugged and all welded one piece and not bolted together. Solid and you can get the westin hdx bolt on light bars in 6 or 10 inch pairs. looks bad ass . Yea has!
@freidrichnietzsche6643

Good suggestion. I don’t like the full bumpers as most of them look like bubba gumps lower lip😂 and don’t. Protect the grille & factory lights. How has the Westin held up for you? I need a bumper & grille guard as I’m tired of feeding the front end of my truck whitetail deer as I drive through Appalachia.
FYI...those big bulky tents you see are for families. The large ones cans sleep up to 6 with a vestibule. Great video. You’re on the right track.
Hi and thank you for sharing your bug out truck, Reba! Good ideas for having the things to help keep you safe, warm and alive in a bad situation. Or just a fun situation you're going on! The frame, deck and tent are top notch.
Yee Haa! Really like the Leitner system. Haven’t seen this one until now. Great video.
Nice! I've always thought that I was a bit extreme carrying all the tools that I carry but, I hate being broke down!!! Your rig blows my daily out the water but, my car is not a bug out vehicle but, my daily. I keep a Complete tool set & many things to keep a vehicle running from air compressor, tools, jacks, stands, jumper cables, & much more but, Nothing like this!!! I need a truck!!!!!!
Just bought this same pickup, I know I'm buying the decked system but am undecided if I'm putting a canopy or rack system. I liked this setup thanks for sharing! From a SeaBee
I like the truck!
Very nice setup. I went the enclosed trailer direction and went crazy remodeling.

The wood frame doubled thicken to accommodate thicker insulation.r15. added a extra axel and a rear deck 8ft x3 ft the heavy duty tool box/ storage box. ( 3ftx 8ft x3ft high)

@@Staff2-fk7sv Yeah they're all crap now in some way or another. You just have to maintain them and when they break fix Them on the spot. I still prefer my Chevy's. I plan on building out an express van full spec. I would tell anyone to do the same thing. 2011 or newer, 4.8l or 6.0l V8. It doesn't matter. You can always swap the engine later to and LS3 or L86. That's the advantage of the a Chevy. A 3500-extented. They're not overly expensive or unreliable like mercedes promaster nissan or transits. RWD is all you need. Do not need 4x4 but it helps. All you need are locking diffs. Do not need a lift, but it helps. Stock springs and shocks are fine. Aftermarket high roof makes everything better. High output alternators, and recycled tesla model S battery modules are my top upgrades of choice and high priority. There is no decent off the shelf, off grid, electrical, plumbing, nor h-vac, system available anywhere. DIY is the best way to get the most bang for your buck. But if you don't trust your own handy work there are some off shelf solutions worth looking into. A van is more solid feeling to sleep in than a flimsy fiberglass RV. Insulation helps but it's not that important. You need an active powered system to keep warm or cool, like a 12v aftermarket A/C system ducted into the vans stock ventilation, that doesn't run on the engine. The same can be done with a cheap diesel heater. You don't need a bus, or an RV. Vans are perfectly sized bug out shelter. Steel bumpers, flood lights, winch, blah blah whole 10 yards. No solar panels. No jackery power station. You don't need a storage bed like what's all of van life on KZread. Just a stock bench or a van sofa. A van let's you have a water system not just carrying jugs. U can use a glycol diesel water heater for hot water. It's extremely cheap, easy to plumb, and run. Even if you don't know how to make rooms inside a van, having electricity, air conditioning, and hot water at the tap, are still worth getting a van over a pickup truck especially for bugout. You can have an entire setup with a shower sink and toilet in a van, that's not a bus, or a box truck, that won't work in a pickup truck. If you're going to get a pully top for your pickup truck, then get a high roof for your van. No brainer and a game changer. A reverse osmosis system for finding water anywhere and making it drinkable is more suitable on a van.
