GREAT TIP!! This is truly awesome, such a simple idea that works great. This allowed me to put together what I think is the most efficient, simple, and cheap way to gravity filter water. Instead of using the mouthpiece, I have a little device that pinches the drinking tube that acts as an on/off. I then use the open end as both a drinking tube, and the open end can also plug directly onto a Sawyer Squeeze. Using this in combo with a CNOC Vecto water bladder makes a suuuper simple setup.

Where is your air inlet? Doesn’t your bottle start start collapsing as you’re drinking?

That is a good question. I never thought about that before. I have checked, and my seal with the tube could be better. It allows enough air to get in that it doesn't collapse, but if you lay it sideways, the amount of water it leaks is minimal. I hope that helps!

How do you keep the bottle from collapsing?

The smart water bottles are firm enough that they don’t collapse very easily.

Or bare with me here ok? Maybe I can just drink water directly out of the bottle? Have you heard of this method before?

There is nothing wrong with drinking out of a bottle; I have done that for years. I enjoy helping people try different things to see what they like. For me, it's nice because my left arm is handicapped, and I can't easily reach the bottle with my left hand. It simplifies it for me. Thank You for your comments. I hope you enjoy the videos!

I need this. I don’t drink enough water when backpacking bc I can’t reach my bottle. My new pack doesn’t have a water bladder holder so I really love this idea and will use it on my next hike when I do rim to rim to rim hike in the Grand Canyon. Thank you for posting this!
