FD1 and Explorer are both great options for that slot. When they're that close I typically try them both forehand to make the final decision
@discgolfjustice

I thought about doing a forehand but my form is pretty shit so I don’t think it would do much good for the video 😂
The Explorer and FD1 look so identical when compered side by side I'm sure I couldn't tell them apart blindfolded.
Love the videos, watch most that come out! FYI - It looks like some hyzer shots are going out near flat from the camera perspective, and your flat shots are coming out with ~5-10 degree of Anny :)

Haha ya I have a naturally upright posture when I throw so I have to really exaggerate to get the angles I want. I haven’t been exaggerating enough lately. Preciate the support mate!
The major advantage of the Explorer is the myriad of plastics available right now, from Prime to Opto X you could literally fill all stabilities. I have 4 at the moment but bagging a Gold X (amazingly straight with solid finish) and a Recycled Im trying to beat into a hyzer flipper @300ft

@@discgolfjustice I threw it into a fucking raging headwind at a course in Myrtle Beach recently, flew dead straight like neutral fairway would with no wind, with a fade at the end. It was probably 20 mph wind, ridiculous, Such a good wind fighter for the 7 speed slot

@DiscGolf Justice I have not picked one up yet but have thrown one a few times. I really like it but I have a royal rage 2 instinct and a forged instinct. They are pretty similar for me
@TuloBThyName
Жыл бұрын
@@brettmchan2855 The FD1 is DEFINITELY more stable than the Instinct. Sometimes you can get a little turn with the Instinct but the FD1 wants to drift right the whole way. FD1 would only be for headwinds IMO so far in my testing with it.

I used to bag an instinct. I would say the fd1 is slightly more stable but they are pretty close fresh out the box
@brettmchan2855

@DiscGolf Justice I have found the forged instinct to be more stable than a brand new neo instinct! The royal rage has a similar flight to the forged one I think but I have only tossed it a few times since I got it in the x out box!
Soon, what were the weight differences on the discs?
Explorer is in my bag. My workhourse disc.

Discmania C Line feels quite a bit better to me than the Opto plastic.. just personally. I love the freaking FD1 though

@@discgolfjustice I don’t mind trilogy’s translucent plastic, Opto/Lucid, idk what it is about that Discmania plastic though, lol, they are definitely close but that plastic just speaks to me 😂 The green and yellow variants of it are so clean, they look like jolly ranchers around the rim

Well when comparing them to each other they would be more or less stable. They are all already considered over stable discs, so saying they are more or less stable than each other makes more sense if not it’s the exact same as saying they are more over stable or less over stable.

I have no idea what you’re trying to say
The explorer had noticeably more glide than the others
@discgolfjustice

Agreed 💯 the FD1 is a glide of 4 while Explorer is glide of 5 so makes since between those two
I cant throw speed 7.. my hands are to big so I have to use a fan grip and cant get the spin needed.. weird since I find it way easier to grip a speed 6 or a speed 8.. Have the river, teebird and the FD but dont use them at all

Athena was too unstable for me too I’ve landed on the grand plastic glory. Straighter flier than the numbers but won’t turn over on you
@discgolfjustice
Жыл бұрын
Weird that the Athena is so flippy aye?
For clarity, on my part, when you say "very stable," I believe what you mean is that they are over stable. At least that is what the manufacturers describe them as. But, of course, it depends on launch velocity and spin. To me, a very stable disc would be more like a L64 River (7,7,-1,1) or a Discraft Passion (8,5,-1,1). I did this same comparison with a Teebird, Explorer, and an Athena and found them to, more or less, fly the same at my 47mph release velocity. My elevation is about 5000ft. I attributed the variances to weight of disc and my inconsistent form.

Correct. To me, stable means beefy. If you want to talk about a straight flying disc I call them neutral

@@discgolfjustice Beefy??? As in "where's the beef?" lol I'm from a distant generation. lol I ask you. What's wrong with just saying it's over stable? That way beginners know what you are talking about.

I ask you what’s wrong with saying stable? This video isn’t about teaching beginners it’s about comparing theses discs to one another
@davelopez9161
Жыл бұрын
@@discgolfjustice The general definition of stability, as it refers to flight, is that if the axis of the flight vehicle/projectile is disturbed, it will naturally re-align its axis with the direction of flight. In other words, it will naturally weather-vane into the oncoming airflow. It doesn't fade or turn. A stable flight flies straight.
@discgolfjustice

It’s more than one way to skin a cat my guy. I find nothing wrong with the way I describe. Stable = 🥩
Why aren't you throwing at a target? 7-speeds are control discs, so why not throw the different type of shots at a target? Just my thoughts, otherwise good video 😊. Explorer all the damn way son 😎!
