Tom is a true adventurer that wanted to build his end all camper conversion. As shown in this video, it is easy to see he may have pulled it off. In terms of getting out somewhere and staying out there, this is one of the best builds I have ever seen!

Good comment, except the bacteria that causes Legionnaire's disease multiplies in water that is not kept a certain high temperature or cold enough. It is commonly found in municipal water, too, so likely in his system. In other words, by allowing hot water to feed back into the fresh water tank, he is warming it enough to encourage the bacteria to multiply, most likely. The Center for Disease Control has info on safe water temperatures and preventing Legionnaire's disease.
@carlacowling1789

I'll look again but I think he said he had a one micron filter and UV. "For most, one micron is enough. It is estimated that this size of filter will remove 99.9% of all bacteria from water. If your water supply has already been treated with chlorine then a lot of these bacteria will no longer be present in the water anyway, and the filtration is more effective for heavy metals and other materials."
@wownewstome6123

@Southern Note, thanks, good point on the filter and UV light - as long as it's for the shower and dishwashing water, too, because people have inhaled the bacteria during those activities.

@@wownewstome6123 I think you may be over thinking that specific issue. He mentioned he has a 75 gallon water tank, a little bit of warm water (not even a gallons worth) put into such a large tank isn't going to impact the temp enough to cause problems
@wownewstome6123

@Q. E. D., in the end, he may be doing just fine. My concerns: it's a monkey see, monkey do world, but people may miss his extra steps, such as the UV light. Also, when filters remove the disinfectants, such as chlorine, then bacteria can multiply unhindered. Plus, I just mentioned **one of the many** biological contaminants that can cause health issues.

I worked on an ambulance for 15 years. So many.....so many times, I thought it would be the perfect doomsday/escape/camper vehicle. Looks like I wasn’t the only one. This is freaking sweet.
That is by far one of the best laid out tiny homes/ambulances I’ve ever seen
Maybe for future interviews you can include what the person does for a living and how much their home on wheels cost them?

Only poor people need this info. Dude has money. Period. I'll pick one thing for you to look up... Look up the Victron 3000 watt inverter he has... Look at that price for an idea of what kind of money he spent... And that truck definitely cost more than $16k but that's not important because you can get nice ambos much cheaper. But the tires and maintenance on that thing... And the gas.... You already know you need money for one of those so why act like you don't know?
The thought and planning that went into this build is simply amazing! Incredible!
If I built out a tiny home on wheels, I'd do it with an ambulance. They have so much living space inside. Love your build.

@@phishENchimps I've had this idea of doing the same.. taking an older rig with a sleeper but throwing a ambulance box on the rear... more living space and the box is already wired with great storage..
This is probably the coolest conversation I've ever seen.
That's a really neat conversion and having all the heavy duty compartments, fittings, wiring, etc would definitely be an advantage. Also, the box is a box, not a curved van body so probably easier to do the needed construction part.
“Following the butter.” Yes! I love the blend of RV, Van, Nautical and Ambulance. Beautifully done! Thank you for sharing with us!
I like the term "follow the butter" ' I've heard the line chasing 70. Nice job!

Listening to all you did just made me smile. I really like what you did and how you incorporated all the marine storage and table. Brilliant just brilliant! Thank you Tiny Home Tours!
Absolutely one of the best layouts and builds I've seen. Only makes sense that it was built on an Ambulance frame, already purpose built for the road and you know it is ready to take a pounding. FREEDOM -- exactly what you have created! Congratulations!
So much storage and really the best part are the windows awesome
By far the best build I’ve seen for backwoods boondocking. Dude could easily sell his builds for big money. Livin the dream.
This is the best ambulance conversion I've seen. I would love to have something like this. Awesome job!!! Congrats
This is amazing! You thought of everything. Especially love the high windows that you don’t have to crouch to see out of and the sunroof over your pillow versus over your feet. ❤❤❤
***THIS IS AN FREAKING AMAZINGLY WELL THOUGHT OUT & CONSTRUCTED ALL-PURPOSE VEHICLE.....GREAT JOB REUSING SO MUCH OF THE LOW USED AMBO!!!!!***
This is my favorite build by far, Absolutely beautiful. It’s like we share the same imagination.
This is just brilliant. I've always thought about it myself. Good to see someone actually did it. A+
As a first responder I work with the fire department all the time. I never thought about using a ambulance as a RV. It’s a great idea because they are designed to conserve space and have lots of storage. Your build is both simplistic and beautiful. You could probably make money making them for people if that’s something you enjoy.

This absolutely, hands down, has to be one of the best ambulance/van conversions I have seen and believe me I have viewed hundreds. The pure creativity and ingenuity utilized in the build is just amazing not to mention the superb craftsmanship. So well thought out. I am planning/implementing a conversion and this video forced me to ball up the project plans to rethink aspects of the plan I have not started and/or redoing aspects of the plans that have been implemented. So, I kinda love/hate this video at the same time...lol. It is definitely making me step my game up...lol Seriously, excellent excellent work on the ambulance build and thank you for helping me see my short sightedness...lol...wish you happy and safe travels...
Loved all the things Tom did - use of white an starboard, Marine hatch for sky light, cubby forth loo, raising the windows, the type of fridge and how it is raised us for easy access - also love ho light and bright it is

this is incredible. such attention to detail. I feel like anyone would be honored to own one of your vehicles... you know that everything is done right and done to last.
Genius where he put the bathroom... So Compact and doesn’t take away from the space. I want 1 so bad man
Impressive conversion. A lot of comments about dead or suffering people in ambulances. Not only was it that this one was only used at Yellowstone for ten years, more likely saving lives, treating exposure, dehydration and bee stings, but also, what does it matter. Don't people realize that many subways, bridges, dams and hotels, etc. have had deaths occur in their construction ? How many homes do they think there are in which the owner had died in it.

That is a bad ass camper , love everything about it , beautiful job
Imagine hallucinating in the desert ,out of water and lost and see this thing.. talk about a mind trip
This is absolutely awesome ! I’d put the bikes on a rack at the back and the spare tire on a swivel system, use some of that garage space for minimalist outdoor kitchen. Add an awning and a winch and this rig is a real dream!
I've seen several conversions and the box style ambulance is, in my opinion the way to go (mountain rescue units are the best, being most complete). Your conversion was very well thought out, with re-purposing materials and especially locating the electrical and water management systems into specific cabinets and filling in wasted space (packs). One of the first ambulance conversions I've seen had one major modification I'd do, raise the roof 15 to 18 inches for head space (over bed). ;-) Happy and safe travels to you.
What an amazingly well thought out and built home. That is one lost box that I would love to find. My bus build will try to incorporate some of your ideas. I so appreciate your sharing. Safe travels. 🇨🇦👏🏽🚌👏🏽🇨🇦🙏🏼
This thought to convert an ambulance to an RV crossed my mind literally the other day.
That is a very detailed work of art. I just saw one of these Kodiak ambulance conversions on Mt Lemmon this past weekend. Love the Duramax diesel with Allison transmission, had 502,000 miles on mine before I sold it. Looking forward to seeing you on the trails.
