Another very excellent review Russo’s !!! My wife and I were very fortunate to check this rig out at the Overland. It’s more impressive live and in person that is for sure. We were especially grateful to met you both and get Joe to be the group photographer. An outstanding job Joe. Thank you both for being so gracious to my wife and I

You’re very welcome a great to meet you as well! Thank you for coming by
I see this at about $500,000 out the door, and it's a beauty, but a GMC 3500HD with an 8 foot bed and an Alaskan pop up camper at $130,000 out the door and there's no debate. $370,000 will take me to a lot of places and my GMC with AWD has advantages on snotty roads over a 2 speed transfer case.. Also, apparently now it's hard to get work done with long wait times. I can detach my camper to get it fixed and still run around. I can use that $370,000 I saved on a hotel. Nice review like always!

So cool. Well done vid!
I'm well impressed with that camper it's got it all WOW

Quite a rig. I got to see it today at Overland Expo West. And got to meet you in person. Thank you Joe for watching Kyrie while Kate showed me the interior. And thank you Kate. It was great to meet you.

Definitely want to know more about this truck ! RPM at highway speeds, towing capacity any way to add fuel capacity or larger fridge for longer trips. Half the price of an Earthroamer & Cummins powered !
Looks like they made some updates to the bath from the original spec model you reviewed. Probably the most spacious bath in this style of overlander I've seen yet. Looks great!
cool ! look forward to seeing you in Flagg ~peace~

25K and I'll take two. Should cost only 15K to build. So, two would mean 20K profit. 20K is enough for a middle class family of 4 to live for 5 years. I blame Biden for this ridiculous inflation. We're all "standing by" President Trump.

Anything for extended “off grid” camping you really need to have some outdoor hobbies you love like motor sports, mountain biking, hunting, fishing or something that makes sense for off grid camping or staying in one spot for days gets boring really fast.
Earthroamer I think is just shy of $600k, Rossmonster makes something as well on GMC/Chevy/Ram/Ford or you can buy a 550/5500 put a flatbed, a truck camper and storage boxes. Very nice rig and you definitely can go almost anywhere in it. The solar panels, the extra fuel capacity and onboard air are wonderful - I would travel Canada and Alaska without any cares!
Whoa momma!
When it came time to talk about the price, my guess was nearly $150K shy. That thing costs more than my house. Very impressive rig!

You are lucky if you bought your house since 2020. That is 23% the value of my house, but more than what my Grandpa built the original house for in the 1950’s.
Glad to see you posting on KZread! I know a lot of folks are coming here because they know your history of vanlife and they are familiar with the STO line of Mode vans. One thing that would be useful to see is if you could show some places you took the Hilt that would be too challenging for a Sprinter van. I know we can conceptualize it, but it’d be great to actually see the terrain only the Hilt could traverse.

Yes thank you
Very nice, very BIG, very expensive. If you are staying off grid in a remote area, you are definitely limited by the cassette toilet. Surprised they didn’t put a black tank. It was fun to see the tour.

Black tanks can be a hassle on an off-grid. I do like this setup, as long as their is a pre-wire/run for Sat/mobile internet, im good to go...

Any opinion on this vs 27 North truck camper?
Is it possible to add a water make to that rig?
Can you use the liquid springs to level the vehicle once you are parked? Does it have a central tire inflation system?

Impressive rig but given the scratches on the side and top of my Sprinter I'm going to guess this thing won't go where my Sprinter goes. Offroad capability is one thing but no amount of power or grip is going to fit you through tight spaces. I think Sprinter is about the best balance between creature comforts and ability to get to interesting places.
Nice rig ! Will You guys be at overland expo Flagstaff?

This thing has been rotating through the different KZread channels. I think I like your walk-through the most!! Well done. I was in the market for something like this earlier this year after having built my own expedition vehicle and I put all the learnings and mistakes from my own rig into the new one (taking delivery late September. With the Hilt I am surprised about the large gap between the cab of the truck and over the cab area of the Hilt. Center of gravity and height really become an issue when you go offroad. I am guessing, but there is at least 2 inches if not more of wasted height. I get it, interior height for the rest of the Hilt, but who really needs 6' 7"? I went with a different manufacturer as I also wanted to stay with a Ford. Anything that comes from Chrysler/Stelantis - I am not touching with a pole. Been burnt too many times when it comes to reliability. Other than that - well designed and good looking rig.

For 450k. You have to crawl into the cabin, cassette toilet, and a wet bath! Holy smokes. 😂😂😂

I was led to understand ‘Super C’ meant air brakes and semi-truck chassis cabs. That’s a C unless it does have air brakes. Other KZreadrs have them mixed up too like Matt’s Reviews.
@Weretherussos
19 күн бұрын
It’s a somewhat arbitrary definition. Most of the time it refers to a truck on a heavier chassis (which this has) and a diesel engine.
Unusual most expersition trucks don't use rooftop ac and blinds go up not down.
I thought the fridge would be bigger 🤔 very nice and well laid out but it’s for people with stupid money. You ain’t getting that in public safety 😂 the price is down right silly. It’s honestly too big for my taste. A single cab on a shorter wheel base would be my favorite.
Why do I have to have a water pump? Why doesn’t the pump kick on as soon as water is turned on or off?
@Weretherussos
19 күн бұрын
The pump does kick on when water is on/off. However you turn the pump button off as a safety feature when driving, etc. many stories about a line breaking or faucet opening on a rough road. No fun to park and find your camper flooded
Would be great if you could quote in metric as I have no idea what 20K pounds means. 10 mpg seems useless today - way too thirsty
Lots to love, but why a cassette toilet? It would be better if it had a black tank, or maybe a gray / black combined tank. Also wondering about the highway gas mileage. With a diesel engine I thought it would get better than 10 MPG. Still, I’d love to have an RV which was competent on moderately challenging dirt roads.
@Weretherussos
11 күн бұрын
10.5 was combined for everything and it will be better on just highway but that’s fantastic for a 20k pound vehicle.
@abappl2
11 күн бұрын
@@Weretherussos Thanks for that. I have been lusting for a dirt-road RV for decades, and unless I win the lottery I don’t see an earth roamer in my future. I’m most interested in highway MPG, because usually we’ve got to do a fair amount of driving to get to the dirt roads we want to explore. We’ve got a 23 foot travel trailer, pulled by a gasoline Expedition, and our highway MPG is just 10.5, but we’re coming in a lot less than 20K pounds. If you ever measure just highway MPG please post it.
Where are the TV’s?

@@Weretherussos love the channel and I agree with the idea of differing purposes. I suppose that I am really questioning how much novelty is built into this type of rig to justify that price? Are big shocks, large tires, a bit of extra solar really that expensive? Maybe I am just jealous. If money were no object….
@Weretherussos
15 күн бұрын
I get where you’re coming from but yes those things are all very expensive (the wheels/tires are over $8k) plus something like 3k hours goes into building one.

I think this is designed for the people who pay anywhere upwards of $2M cash for a house and want to go overlanding.
I give this a two. Too heavy and too expensive to be fun.
This is for the guy that has $ to burn. They will do anything to one up everyone else. What! A wet bath. A cassette toilet. Oh my. 😢
Crazy that at 450k this is the budget option in its class😂. Nobody touches ER for features and fit and finish, but they start at over 800k now, and have the worst layout in the industry imo. 27 north truck is a joke. Storyteller and the new Truckhouse are the way to go.
No 50 cal or grenade launcher turret. Why bother?
