I live in Austria, just a 43 minute train ride away from Bratislava, only 5 days ago I actually decided to go there for the first time with my brother. Compared to Vienna the old city is tiny but really beautiful, it took us maybe 20 minutes to explore all the streets and tiny allyways there. We went to a slovakian restaurant there and visited the white castle, it looked much nicer then I expected. At the end we got some ice cream from the Luculus ice saloon, which is famous in this city, and yeah the ice crean was great. I didn't have high expectations before because half of the city is made out of these blocky soviet residental buildings (or commie blocks) which you also find all over Russia. But after visiting it I really like Bratislava, maybe even more then Vienna, and I definitely wanna visit it again, my brother also really liked it. And fun fact, Vienna and Bratislava hold the record for being the two closest capital cities in the world.

Glad you visited Bratislava but the comment about half of the city consisting of the soviet era residential buildings just shows how even your neighbour can be badly informed. Petržalka is not half of the city, yes there are buildings from the 70s and 80s which look very ugly but there is also lots of amazing and old buildings. It's also common for the tourist to only stay in the old town (which is really small because many buildings were torn down during the constructions of the SNP/UFO bridge) but the surrounding areas like Devín, Devínska Kobyla, Kamzík tower, Horský park (forest in the middle of the town), Sandberg (paleontological location) are some locations that every tourist should visit to see the real potential of the city.

Bratislava was always the suburb of Vienna. Main political life was in Vienna or later in Budapest. Bratislava gained a partial significance during the times when Ottomans took over almost all today Hungary. The castle was guarding the hungarian regalia and the cathedral was used for coronations. Also naopelonic wars hurt significance of Bratislava and also modernistic architects and planners during communist era. Also pragocentrism didnt developed Bratislava well during czechoslovakian common state. and definitely Slovaks lost the time of national renaissance because hungarian chauvinism. Also other nations had former kingdoms and interesting history. Slovaks have it littlebit complicated and also self underestimating plays some role in this whole picture.

Čumil means looker/watcher, not someone working and for anybody visiting Čumil, there is geocache on magnet under the manhole cover, bring pen and sign on little paper that's inside. Presidential palace is just office for head of state. They don't live there. But it is used for ceremonial events: welcoming state guests, naming judges/professors etc. Oh that restaurant/bar was once able to slowly rotate, so the view changed during the stay.

I am from Slovakia and yes, it is a beautiful country. I recommend visiting other cities and places here. For example, the historical cities of Banská Štiavnica, Levoča and Bardejov. the High Tatras National Park and the Slovak Karst National Park and its caves. In Slovakia, we have up to 180 castles and chateaux, I recommend visiting Bojnický Castle, Čachtický Castle because of the legend of the bloody lady, Betliar Manor and Smolenický Castle. I could name more. If someone would like to see how life used to be in Slovakia, I recommend a visit to the Museum of the Kysucka Village and the Historic Forest Headland Railway in Vychylovka, the Museum of the Liptov Village of Pribylina, the Museum of Folk Architecture and the Bardejov Spa. Have a nice day.

@@SammyandTommy Cesky Krumlov, Kutna Hora, Tabor (if visiting this, read about Hussite Wars as Tabor was very important in those times) . Probably Olomouc if you are on Moravian side (eastern Czech Republic). Prague is obviously wonderful but too many people visit just that and ignore the rest of the country. Castles: Karlstejn, Konopiste, Hluboka, obviously many others When it comes to nature, probably Moravsky Kras (beautiful kerst area with Macocha abyss). Wine, visit Mikulov in South Moravia. However as a Slovak: In case you're staying in Slovakia for longer, some unsolicited advice too: Banska Stiavnica with its town centre, museum of mining etc, maybe Kezmarok wooden church or Levoca, then skanzens like Vlkolinec, Cicmany or Zdiar. Castles: Spis castle, Orava castle (this!!!). Nature: literally anywhere, Slovak Paradise , High Tatras, Low Tatras, hiking around Terchova. Have fun and enjoy!

@@SammyandTommy her demeanor was I'm not fragile and can handle my own **** but in this last video and slightly the one before she let go a bit and embraced her womanly instinct of looking for solace and protection from her husband, maybe he did something right or hormones are in play (I honestly thought she was visited by the monthly cycle). Tommy comes across as very polite and letting things not get out of hand or stay in the background with his portrait camera while Sammy was the devil that spiced things up a little not in a rude way but more direct using a 😊 but for some reason I found Tommy's smile more genuine. Perhaps reasoning could be that Sammy is the 'forefront' or face and Tommy doesn't like to appear or has his hands full filming taking picture and hence for Sammy being tired from all the smiling and coming across less genuine. That's my observation which of course is subjective and has nothing to do with truth or reality. I think Sammy is more at the business cut end things while Tommy is more at the enjoying the moment end of things.

Many cities around like London, Paris, Vienna etc in the west of Europe you can visit loads of areas. Bratislava feels so save and friendly in contrast. I other cities they suffer incredibly from "Diversity". Everyone hates everyone else and nobody understands nobody else... I enjoyed Bratislava and our roundtrip through Slovakia A LOT. Slovaks and in general Slavic people are sooo friendly and calm and i love their culture. They have beautiful women (and men) and i was almost surprised how organised and clean everything is. That is for most parts of all Slavic countries i visited (Poland, Czechia, Belorussia, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia. West Europe is going down the drain in comparison. But i liked Slovakia the best. Im honestly considering moving to Slovakia i love it that much. The Slovaks have something going on i can't quite describe, but it's unique ... they are so respectful and cultivated... for lack of words.

I am quite often there due to my work. And I find the city has bad urban planning and roads and above all don’t get sick or getting into hospitals or health care. It’s will be you nightmare of life . Walking healthy and money in the pocket seems easy . It’s a very different experience, if one gets in the need of help .

I am native from Bratislava and I can confirm what you wrote. If you need healthcare try some private clinic or 45 minutes drive to Vienna (if you can afford the treatment there). If you have some really complex health issues avoid Slovak healthcare at all costs. Other than that, Bratislava is an "ok" city to live in, it's not all bad.

Half of Bratislava are soviet commie blocks since Slovakia was part of the communist Eastern Bloc during the cold war, you can find them all over former Eastern Bloc countries like Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, ect. The Train I took with my brother ended in Bratislava Petrazalka, which is a district with like 90% commie blocks. Walking through there was a rather unpleasant experience, it's a quite ugly district and it took us like 40 minutes to get though it. But once we got to the old part of the city it was really nice, it's rather small but really beautiful and charming. The castle also looked much nicer then I thought. I overall really liked it, maybe even more then Vienna and I definitely wanna visit Bratislava again.

@@slimshady6934I have been fighting with cancer for the past 15 years and have several very complex health issues. So I have a lot of experience with doctors (I had more than 400 examinations, I have documentation right here). Maybe for simple things like broken leg or a flu they are ok, but once the health issue is complex and they have to rely on their scientific knowledge to use analytics they are completely lost. They only know how to treat well known standard problems, but cannot analyze something more complicated. I've also spent many of those 15 years in Prague, and Prague healthcare was bad, Bratislava was much worse. All my friends and extended family have massive problems with doctors, my neighbor got killed by them. 20 years ago I dated an intensive care nurse, and she told me two stories she saw with her own eyes of a doctor being extremely negligent and killing a patient who had very minor problem - nothing happened to any of the doctors, one got shouted at by the director of the hospital, that's all. I could go on with many more stories or go into detail, but I don't want to spam it here. Just avoid doctors in Bratislava if you can.
