    The first tripods to do this kind of twist locking were the MeFoto Air tripods. I still have my MeFoto Backpack Air that goes with me when I travel. I just need a fluid head that can be leveled, like this one.

    Great review. I like the cam lock leg system (I used to have one that had a top mounted lever to extend the legs quickly... wish I still had it).

    Hi Brian. I never seen a leg system like this one on a tripod. I really like it.

    Hey, glad you seem to be feeling not too bad with the Covid. Thanks for the review on this new Ulanzi. This style of leg was brought out by MeFoto several years ago, I believe they are part of Benro now. Some of your other viewers may remember it. The model I bought was the Globtrotter Air. The super quick deployment of the legs was wonderful but MeFoto had not quite perfected the internal components and sometimes the leg section would slip. Because of this they no longer make that style so I was pleased to see that Ulanzi has picked it up and probably solved the interior lock component problem. I think I will pre-order one. Thanks again.

    Hi DK. Thank you, yes, not feeling too bad. Mostly just congested. I didnt know that about MeFoto. Hope the Ulanzi legs hold on. Only time will tell. I never had a Benro tripod but heard great things about them. Hmmmm, Maybe I should contact them see if they have a big sturdy tripod that would be great for studio food and product photography.......

    @Skyler Ewing Photography I'm sure Benro would be happy to hear from you. They have just announced a new model, the "Theta" that is the world's first self leveling tripod. Google that to see a promo video. Take care.

    @@dktraveller8364 I just watched the video. It doesn’t look like a good studio tripod, it’s more of a light travel tripod. The head looks awfully similar to peek design tripod head which I hate. The self leveling looks cool but I wouldn’t trust my camera and lens to it while it moves trying to adjust. I saw the use the same “smart” twisty legs. I was looking on their website to the tortoise columnless one. That one looks heavy duty and good but I absolutely hate twisty legs!

    I always look forward to your video. Always having something to learn. I want your advice on a special accessory needed to use Ulanzi F38 with the smallrig L bracket on My Nikon Z9. the Small rig cage doest work with Ulanzi easy to release head. at the moment I have both Ulanzi F38 and the Ulanzi common Zero, both with easy release head. It is using the small rig cage vertically that is not possible. please what accessory would you suggest to resolve this incompatibility problem?

    The problem with twisty leg like this is that you have to remove the camera to adjust the height of the tripod I guess.

    But having that twisty thing with only one knob means you'll use the slimmest section when you extend it a bit, not the larger ones for more stability.

  • @dktraveller8364

    @dktraveller8364

    Жыл бұрын

    It may look odd, Stephan, but it will be every bit as stable. The slender leg section is designed to have the capacity to resist the axial load created by the combined camera mass as well as the overturning effects of wind or any other lateral load when the tripod is at it most extended condition. When the tripod is not fully extended, the axial load in the leg section will be less than its design load due to the shorter lever arm for any applied lateral loads, and stability will be fine. DK, P.Eng.

    With that one knob design doesn't that mean that every time you want to adjust the length of the legs you have to bend down to reach the bottom? Say you have the legs fully extended but you want to lower the tripod by an inch, on a lever style one you could just open the top levers and lower the tripod. It looks like on this design you'd have to bend down, twist the knob, stand back up and lower the camera to the height you want and then bend down again to tighten the knob. This design seems like it would work well if you never plan to make adjustments once the legs are extended but I wonder how well this works in real world environments?

  • @skylerewingphotography

    You can make adjustments by twisting any part of the leg. So if you want to shorten the top leg just grab the section below and twist. You can twist anywhere on the leg not just the knob
