It Is so great to see Kate Gerbeau back on TR doing her usual standup job interviewing with incisive questions that do a lot to tease the threads out of the story. These women (including the ones referered to by the others) are doing a spectacular job of getting to this (and I've followed Diane Francis for years here in Canada where she has always had some of the best opinion columns) and I think it is great that Kate is bringing their roles out to show that it isn't just a bunch of testosterone filled men that are fighting for Ukraine against the Russians. Well done Kate.

I´m so humbled, now at 69 I had always been amazed at my luck of being born at the right time. Just after WW2, I watched how people tried to forget, move on and how a society reaped from the War and also what was lost. Always, in multiple times through my life, I have been thankful of living in a neutral environment or where I have felt spoilt by the distance and denial shown by so many who know nothing about a War´s true horrors. Water is often running down my cheeks every time I hear about the progress of Ukraine and it´s struggle. I hear politicians asking the wrong questions and distancing their morality within their eyes. I am truly humbled by your profound efforts, both men and women alike. Against this pitiful man... I think not a "man", rather a monster who can only live in denial. I wonder when the people will rise up, when they hear that all the jails are full or when they are told to? Yet it´s difficult to listen to reason, when your heads are still in the sand. Yet the truth will always find a way out and rebellion will rise up to spill blood on the streets. Imagine the damage Ukraine could do, if they were to attack Russia properly. They are Merly holding their boundaries, which is their right to do. Yet I still wept at the disgrace of their dictators actions. Thousands of children now suffer within families that do not want them, but the funds they represent. If it was down to me, I would build a force to storm Moscow. Dressed in black and only under the cover of night, to stealthily purge and gain insight, with set convergence points and special training to cover their intent. Yet I digress, I am grateful to hear of the many women who are as yet unknown, doing their huge part in this mess. I wish you all my deepest love and well being, you are amazing and I for one will not forget what your doing for this world. 🕊 Steve in Sweden

What these brave women need right now is anonymity, not triumphant, self-indulgent articles celebrating female empowerment, drawing attention to their activities. 20:40 Anna Politkovskaya was an American-Russian journalist and human rights activist, who reported on political and social events in Russia, in particular, the Second Chechen War (1999-2005). Politkovskaya was well known for reporting on abuses in Russia's war in Chechnya early in Vladimir Putin's presidency, was shot dead outside her flat in Moscow in 2006. These days, wearing white scarves, a symbol of their protest movement, Moscow women said it was a rare opportunity to express their opposition to mobilization and publicly demand the return of their loved ones from the front. “It’s obvious that we are straining the authorities with our existence,” Maria Andreyeva, the wife of a mobilized soldier and one of the most public figures in a growing anti-mobilization movement, told The Moscow Times at Saturday's protest. “Our problems have been constantly ignored, but we won’t let our men be forgotten,” Andreyeva said, holding carnations traditionally placed on monuments dedicated to fallen soldiers in Russia. Andreyeva is a member of Put’ Domoi (Way Home), one of the most visible groups of wives, mothers and daughters of some of the 300,000 men mobilized for the war in Ukraine.

She was noted for discovering the diary of writer Volodymyr Vakulenko, who was detained and killed by Russian forces in the city of Izyum early in the invasion. The diary, which was buried in his garden, detailed alleged Russian atrocities during the occupation of the city. Belarusian opposition leader in exile Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya wrote that she was "heartbroken" over news of Amelina’s death. I think it was someone's plan somewhere in the 20th century to settle Ukraine with Western Europeans. Forgot his name unfortunately

I find itinteresting that there's so seldom mention of the fact that Ukrainian culture is 500+ years older than that of Moscovian Russia. Also, Russia has invaded Ukraine countless times over the centuries. It's difficult to think this has not bred into Ukrainian culture a type of quiet, entrenched resistance and a determination to do whatever's necessary.

This is the real meaning of a fierce woman. This is what a patriot for freedom does. Action, intelligence, courage, sacrifice and getting stuff done. Thank god for Ukraine.
