    Thank you! This is really what I’ve been looking for. I’m always memorizing words and verbs but stringing them into sentences is the most challenging for me. I will study this very much!

    I find actually the hardest thing in Ukrainian is the stress. That is because I have been speaking Russian for 37 years and you almost have to re-wire your brain to stress on another part of the same word. With practice, I can overcome this.

    So there are words that are otherwise identical but emphasize different syllables in RU and UA?

    @@thefisherking78 Yes. A lot of words are different but some are the same. For instance, “Tak” means yes in Ukrainian but “So” in Russian. Then there are words that mean the same thing but the stress is placed on a different part of the word. She speaks in Russian: Она говори’т where the stress is toward the end of the word. In Ukrainian: Вона гово‘рит. where the stress is on the middle o. Also the г in Ukrainian is aspirated where in Russian it is not. It can be very tricky trying to speak both languages.

    Great acting 👍 I learned something to see a natural conversation. Can a question be answered please:. I am concerned that my attempting bad communication with Ukrainian language on social medias may be offensive. Is it offensive to Ukrainians that I try to use Ukrainian language or should I not do so if I am not good at it? Will a Ukrainian even tell me to not try if they didn't like it?

    No need at all to learn some marginal language when you can learn a major, generally understood Slavic literary language like Russian.

    Generally understood? By whom? I'm polish and I don't understand a shit from ruSSian while I can understand huge amount of ukrianian/ belarusian/ czech/ slovak. Secondly, it's very ignorant what you said. It's like saying that there's no need to learn french because there is spanish...

    @@bacalnik00 1. If you don't know it, the fault is with your elders. 2. My point wasn't for Poland, but for Ukr which still has Russian as the high language. 3. To the point: if I want to learn one slavic language, why should I choose some obscure dialect instead of a world-class, major literary language?

  • @bacalnik00

    @@watching7650 1,2. It's ukraine not ruSSia so I don't see a reason why parents should teach their kids russian. Did your parents have been teaching you japanese? 3. Actually russian is a dialect of bulgarian and ukrainian language has much more slavic roots than russian full of mongolian words.

    @@bacalnik00 Don't pretend you don't get it. If I want to learn a language, why should I choose what is in effect a regional dialect (which is not even the general communication language in its "own" country)? Also, all Poles did learn Russian as an international language until practically yesterday, and they lost a lot, culturally speaking, when they stopped that.

  • @bacalnik00

    @bacalnik00

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@watching7650 what did we lost?😆 English enriched us much more than russian since it is at least useful and stop explaining me how the things work in my own country. Also, majority of Ukrainians speak ukrianian as a first language and the rest of them understand it well. And how the f*ck you can call it a dialect of russian when it shares less vocabulary similarity with russian than with belarusian, polish and czech. Also, russians don't even understand ukrainian. Weird, I understand polish dialects and english people understand their dialects... And to be exact ukrainian shares about 60% similarity with russian which makes it less mutual intelligible than for example portuguese and spanish. So do you call portugese a dialect?
