War truly makes people come up with some "amazing" ideas. It's always the case where soldiers are handed whatever weapons are currently the most modern. Then the soldiers take them and use very "basic" technology to adapt them and make them more practical. Human ingenuity is forced by war. A weird sad truth.

Agreed, but that has always been a problem in warfare. Though many military strategists would prefer to wound an enemy rather than killing them, because not only is that enemy incapacitated, but also (1) other soldiers have to drop what they're doing to grab their buddy, and (2) it ties up logistical resources to evac the injured and provide medical care in a battle zone.

Recently, opinions have been divided among the Ukrainian military regarding the use of civilian drones as a strike tool. Opponents of this point out that striking a civilian drone increases its chance of being shot down. Drones are quite expensive and are bought mainly by volunteers, and to get a new one you have to wait an indefinite amount of time. During this time, the unit will not have "eyes" in the sky and thus the advantage will be on the side of the enemy. It is more effective to use a drone to correct more serious "arguments": AGS, Mk. 19, mortars, artillery. However, it is great to see a target and immediately attack it, which is why the Ukrainian charity fund "Aerorozvidka" developed a special R-18 attack octocopter in 2019. It can carry 5 kg, is bigger and more reliable and can fly further than civilian variants. An improved version of the R-34 is also under development, it seems to carry more than 10 kg.

Mike needs to do LARP series called “Special Operations” that teaches tactics and survival training in action. Mike and his friends get set an objective, while another team of special operations soldiers hunt them down trying to prevent them from reaching the objective. A small camera crew is with both teams. Everyone is in full kit with blank firing weapons or sim rounds to add to the intensity. The video format can be like a documentary style show. The missions will last over the course of a few hours, the whole day, or even days. However long it takes them to complete it and then they make their way to exfil while the soldiers are still hunting them down. Any thing can happen, from an ambush, or someone gets split from the group unexpectedly like a lone survivor type situation. The two teams can be told to go patrol and maybe encounter each other leading to a firefight. Night operations. Search and destroy bomb sites. One team must protect a factory sized building while not knowing that another team is quietly making their way in. Or they can reenact real situations that our troops experienced while overseas. Im spit balling but i think this would be super interesting to watch and learn from.

yeah, there are so many horrific videos of drone warfare. its a weapon that the average soldier cant really fight against unless they have a shotgun with birdshot or an electronic warfare gun that disables the drones. airpower like planes or jets are an expensive way of doing recon and bombings which most poor nations cant afford, but any country can afford some $1000 or less drones to do recon and small bombings. cheap drones are being used in several wars right now other than the Ukraine war, like the anti junta forces in Myanmar for example.

Usually one position is held by 8-10 men; most constantly stay under cover in "bunkers" (dougouts with log roof), only two men stays on "eyes" with optics, radio and thermal visor. Those two are at risk, rest are relatively safe. This works for small drones like DJI products, who can lift up to two grenades. Recently russians got a lot (A LOT) cheap 3d printed chinese drones, much bigger and capable of carry even RPG thermobaric grenades; such thing coul kill with pressure shock even without destroying dougout. Such tech is really frightening, yes.

I'm not coming down on you, I'm genuinely unsure how vets feel, or if they even know that their own government supplies its "sworn enemies" for the purpose of artificial conflict, war profiteering, and draining the American tax basin. The person who informed us of that is being tortured at Belmarsh prison in the UK, Assange. Not for exposing government secrets, but for exposing government crimes.

Just the noise of that thing coming down the hallway would stoke an incredible fear. The payload release can also be triggered by the pilot or when the drone loses power, so even if you shoot it down above you, you still need to find cover asap.

I always thought that having rapid deployable drones would be a huge advantage. My concept was a motor like deployment system with 270 fov and possibly thermal. Drone gets launched and just hovers and gives troops a clear view. For retrieval it either self destructs if you can't get to it. Or the pilot takes over.

Defence contractors have been doing the whole "cheap drone with a grenade" thing since at least 2017 (where I personally saw them at the international defense exhibition and conference). It's crazy how easy it is to use pretty much with a good rundown on the controllers for a couple minutes can turn someone into a drone pilot and the rest is just practice Every Time You drop you get feel for it more and more pretty soon you can do it with such accuracy from high altitude even some people can do it on the move by judging the drop trajectory the guys that use the fpv drones are real skilled Pilots that can fly through a vehicle window while it's moving or fly it right into the entrance of a bunker

back before I graduated, 2017-2019, my university (school of engineering and computer science) and many other unis were given substantial research grants for drone and anti drone research. Some of the projects I saw going on at my own school was stuff like EMP "cannon" made to disable drones, sophisticated drone swarms (1 guy could easily command many drones, force multiplier), autonomous drones, and drones that could continue to function in limited capacity if they experienced damage (adaptive controllers,. use: if shot they can still probably kamikaze to the target). The government has a good understanding on how to weaponize and counter drones compared to the private/civilian sector. Glad to see the 2A community catching on to drones, They are not hard things to learn to fly and use. And for the more tech savvy, not to terribly complicated to implement autonomous, swarm, and adaptive functionality just by copying peoples work on github. We should have as much interest in drones and drone components, microcontrollers, saving code bases and files offline, 3D printers as we do with guns, ammo, and armor.

@Sterling Archer from where they dropped? Anti aircraft weapons try to shoot airplane . If you can use airplane on that area just drop guided bomb that can fly for a long distances and very precise. Main usage of this drones is correcting artillery, that fire from safe place. A lot of drones can be fall down in one time if enemy have electronic warfare on spot, losing of drones is common, lose many at once is stupid.
