🔴 Ukraine War - Ukrainian Forces Shoot Down Russian Helicopter With STUGNA-P ATGM System

Ukrainian forces managed to shoot down a Russian attack helicopter with a STUGNA-P anti-tank guided missile system in Ukraine.
The footage shows Ukrainian soldiers engaging a what appears to be a low flying Russian KA-52 Aligator attack helicopter over a forest.
This footage seems to be the first official visual confirmation of a STUGNA-P ATGM use against a flying target.
While cases of ATGMs downing helicopters are rare they still occur from time to time.
The STUGNA-P is a remote controlled Ukrainian anti-tank guided missile system fully developed and manufactured in Ukraine.
It can engage targets to a distance of up to 5 km.

It was smart, however, there was little to no chance to avoid that missile. The KA52 was hovering and at very low altitud. Transitioning from hovering to evasive would have taken him too many seconds and probably, the only way he could have evaded was upwards or maybe in an upwards diagonal, not much room for an agresive maneuver. However, it is a good point what you said, thanks for point that out

@@maxiramos9906 really shows a huge lack of training and proper munitions on his part. ka-52s can be equipped with guided missiles with long enough range to let him hover like that like apaches do, but that's the caveat....you have to have that distance for sitting there like that to work, otherwise you're just a sitting duck like what you saw here... no trained pilot is just going to hover that close to the ground and that close to the enemy. If he only has dumb munitions then he needs to keep that shit moving if he wants to live

The missle is SACLOS LOSBR (Laser, not radar) guided. The KA-52 should have L140 laser warning sensors, but are often defective or badly maintained, normally, the Sensors can detect the Laser in near vicinity, like in this case. So, its the pilots fault or the system didn't worked. But i agree, the ukranian operator seems to have that in mind. I correct that, at the end, the pilot seems to try to avoid lock on. The ukrainian operator did a good job.

The flight speed of the Stugna-p rocket is 200-220 m/s (720-790 km\h). It is easier and more accurate to calculate the misalignment. The missile reached the target in 10-11 seconds. I checked. We take the average rocket speed of 755 km/h, take the average time of 10.5 seconds and convert seconds into hours: 0.0029 km/h. We count according to the standard formula Distance = Speed * Time (S=V*T): 0.0029*755=2.20 (km). Conclusion: the distance was about 2200 meters. For reference, the stugna-p complex can hit targets up to 5000 meters.
