Ukraine Considers Recruiting Convicts To Fight Russia

Ukraine is considering recruiting convicts and sending them to fight Russia to compensate for shortages in manpower -- but which types of convicts are suitable is still up for debate. One Ukrainian drug smuggler says he'd rather be in the army than in jail. The Justice Ministry says Ukraine is not forming anything like Wagner, the Russian mercenary group notorious for enlisting rapists and murderers.

I agree with @cherchezlesoir7166. We have many of them in Sweden. Living on social welfare. Men of fighting age. I dont think they should get free money, free housing, free food, free clothes. I think they should go back to their own country and fight in their own war. The same goes for all the other economic migrants in Europe. They are mostly men and they should go back to Africa and the Middle East because since they came here, at least Sweden where I live, they have committed so much crime against the indigenous population. Especially ruthless s3x crimes. I'm a victim of one such crime and I think if you really are a refugee from war, you should not abuse the people in your new country. The Ukranian women and children are real refugees but they are also something Sweden can't really afford anymore, since we have so many people from the middle East and Africa here already. They need to go home after the war. The others that came before, they also need to leave. Our country has been ruined by our corrupt politicians that did this. Other countries like Japan and South Korea, are not called racist because they don't allow migrants to come to them. But Europe is?

All that money doesn't go directly to USA. Do you think uncke Sam is stupid!? They give weapons that are in stock and write their value as amount given. Then they need to refill that ammo dump thus they spend the money allocated in Congress matching each weapon given by buying from US companies. Thus 85% of the money (as per related docs show and even said in tv) stays in USA !!!! The 15% that goes are spent in ua buying weapons directly and financing theyr gov expenses (that include soldiers salaries) and also corruption. So USA shows that helps but almost everything stays in USA and US Army have new weapons with no extra cost!!!! Win win r@@AbuHajarAlBugatti

For the attacking army to turn to criminals shows how low they will go/how many they have lost/they want to hide troop death figures from the public by using men "off the books." For defenders, it's a different thing. They did not choose it, and they are not prepared for it (most of the time), so if they have to turn to other means, it is way more acceptable for them to do so because if they don't, they could lose everything, whereas the attacks can simply turn around and go home...... Although there are a lot of Russians who can never do that. They have literally become part of Ukraine.

The drug smuggler, maybe, but not those convicted of a deliberate murder, pedophile or dangerous abuser. Some hardened criminals released back to Russia went home to commit awful atrocities. Conditions in a tough Russian penal colony, then a bloody war....add alcohol, then emerging back on the streets with zero rehabilitation, is a formula for possible disaster. Igor Sofonov, 37, imprisoned on drug charges, fought in Ukraine, only to return to Russia and alongside another ex convict, stabbed 6 people to death and set the victims' house ablaze. 😳

I'd say give them a opportunity, Thing is, they have to be watched carefully, any signs of mis behavior/lying ,,, back to the slammer, Attitude is everything,, as i say they have to be obsrerved very carefully, any sign of dishonesty, back they go to the slammer. Career criminals might not work out, If they can prove faithful on the field, at the end of 1 yr they should be given a option, stay and fight or back back home and work in support of the war. Food prep, mechanic work, delivery driver etc etc etc. There are a million jobs behind the fronts. They need to wear a ankle monitor for some months.

This is a bad idea, full stop. Who is to guarantee the convicts would not resort back to the old behavior that landed them in prison or, worse, new behavior from surviving the frontlines. The prisoners that Russia conscripted proved they'll resort back to old habits with bloody results in civilian life. I know that Russia is a bad example, but how is Ukraine resorting to the same thing not going to reach the same outcome?

Take it from a Pole, Ukrainians are very much capable of wrong just like any other people, but Ukraine acts entirely just in their defense against Russia’s cruel invasion. Many people, perhaps not your delusional self, recognize the difference in a conflict between the aggressor and the victim, and rightfully so they get judged through this lens.

@@AbuHajarAlBugatti Yeah, it is. I’m half German/half Polish. Konrad happens to be a name of both Polish and German origin. Konrad I of Masovia from the noble dynasty of Piast is even the Polish king most known for inviting the Teutonic Knights to Prussia, a decision that would come to be regretted later. It is also the name of many famous German kings and even Teutonic knights as well including the Grand Master Konrad von Jungingen, who led the Teutonic knights to their greatest territorial extent, and of course Konrad von Wallenrode, the man who inspired the Polish poem, Konrad Wallenrod, a poem in which a man who rose to grand master of the Teutonic knights deliberately and vengefully leads his knights to defeat. I am also well aware of the German Konradiner dynasty of which the Salian dynasty was a cadet branch of.
