It took Jason YEARS to finally get annoyed by Rathalos’s infamous jumpback fireball that he does after EVERY ROAR. Also, for the claw snipe, either block or flop.

You're learning so fast! When I learned charge blade I didn't figure out the whole AED thinga-ma-jig until G rank. Excited for you to learn how to guard point, one of the funnest techniques that weapon has. BTW did you know you can preform an SAED/AED after a block? All you need to do is hit X+A after a monster hits your shield. It's really fun imo. And since you can block roars in MH you can practice by blocking roars. And you can even do the technique out of a guard point once you figure that out. Love your journals! It's always fun seeing you experience new things.

Ooh, Dalamadur, Ukanlos, and Molten Tigtex in one Journal! Nice Hunting Jay! And don't worry about being an optimal hunter, I'm not myself and I thank the devs for implementing QoL Armor skills all the time. Speed Sharpening, Minds Eye, and maybe Speed eating sometimes. I do wish you show your reaction to the weapon designs for the new monsters you hunt. Ukanlos weapons are WILD looking lol

Happy to see you enjoy fighting Molten Tiggy, one of my favorite fights in 4U. Its' Z armor set is pretty dang powerful too with speed eating +2 and HG earplugs, saved me multiple times in the higher g-rank quests. Also congrats on the Ukanlos win, the great sword from it is my favorite GS in terms of looks.

Molten Tigrex is 100% my favorite monster ever, I miss him😢

Good to see these journals back. I'm just starting to get my high rank gear going. Got an okay weapon but I'm thinking I might get the seltas s armor for that artillery. I also gotta remember which moves have a guard point. In GU they actually have a visible part of the animation that has the guard point, but that game has so many different styles with different GPs it didn't create muscle memory going into this game. Anyway, I'll be catching up with you hopefully.

When Los flies high up, stay underneath him, you might be ulnerable to other attacks, however he cannot magnet claw you

Kirin on paper seems like it could be a decent CB matchup, but it's definitely a monster where if you don't know exactly what it's going to do, it's going to mess your shit up. Chat also might not have mentioned, but there's a certain setting for Camera controls, that makes AED a lot easier, basically it makes it so you only press BACK on the circle pad all the time as opposed to the inverse direction you're facing, can tinker about in the training quest for certainty on the camera setting, alongside whether you like it.

I can’t wait to play more of this! I’m trying IG in this game, still EXTREMELY early. Meanwhile in 3U I am 7 ranks off from unlocking Abyssal Lagi! Plus I’ve bargain hunted a Lagi plush to join my group of monsters.

@@HeyJayOfficial Yup! I’m rushing to slay Abyssal Lagi and every unique monster (barring Apexes) in 4U as fast as I can! I’ll miss Hammer when I fight Gypceros next, smashing his flash hammer means it’s silly when he tries that.

Honestly Jay, the fact that you got the SAED cancel down relatively quickly made you a lot better with the CB. Nothing hurts more than wasting 5 phials and a red sheild. You are doing a whole lot better than day 1 👍

since you're putting a good amount of phials into monsters now please remember: phial damage does not scale with sharpness or affinity, only with raw. you might need fencing or steady hand though if you go for a very dull blade.

A bit secret on guard point, the missconception is you put shield on and the press x(or a? Idk depends on the controler) but you have to input both at the same time to have guard point window. Also imo, you reach grank is already good and theres a surprise you might found on seltas hunt

2:47 you actually were pretty close to soloing it, that ore drops only when its really low below 10% iirc.

your hunting prowess have definitely improved after getting a hang of red shield and SAED cancels. very apparent with how well molten, akantor and ukanlos were handled I also feel the seregios CB might be overhyped for your case. I get why its recommended, but if your playstyle involves using a lot of sword and shield attacks with no razor sharp skill, something else is likely better keep up the good work !

Hey Jay, I'd like to run an idea by you regarding you learning guard point to where you could make good content out it. It may not be the best idea to do it in a stream, but rather to keep it exclusive to KZread. You should do a reaction video of Gaijin Hunter's tutorial on it, and then capture footage of you practicing it and learning it. I think that would be the best way to go in regards to you learning guard point and making good content out of it.

Silver Rathalos' head is a strongpoint, but i believe it's in...generations? Maybe? That it becomes a weakpoint after breaking. Gives cortexes regardless...and...well here's the real nutcase thing, i, very very much could be wrong, heard a whisper, a perhaps tall tale...Silver Rathalos, of course, any johnny jojo shabadoo and their gesndma can tell you it's immune to dragon, but...maybe does breaking its head, in one iteration or another, make it a dragon weakpoint?

I also beat Dalamadur with the Shagaru CB (also taking 40m) but in my case I crafted it early (as the Gore Magala CB) and was able to steadily upgrade it over time, so I didn't have to concentrate a bunch of grinding all at once. (and its transformation into the Shagaru CB was a jaw-drop moment to be sure!) Ukanlos, by comparison, was done in 25-30m. Don't worry, your dislike of Kirins is DEFINITELY Kirin. World gave its overall behavior a major rework. The Seregios weapons' ability to automatically sharpen is really only a gamechanger for Great Sword, because it depends on how fast a weapon wears through Sharpness normally. Fun Ukanlos fact: Its entire "swimming" attack counts as only one hitbox, meaning if you stand your ground and simply block it, the rest of the attack can't even touch you. (The ice chunks dug up when enraged, however, are separate hitboxes) Bonus fun fact: Unlike Iceborne and Sunbreak, in MH4U you CAN upgrade lower tier armor into G-rank levels. It's not as effective as the actual G-rank set but it can still help ease the transition (just go mining a lot and you'll find the Armor Spheres you need).

It's the weapon matchup, any Kirin you want Swaxe i say. Charge Blade requires charging up, and most of Kirin is hard ass, so the charge up is a terrible thing, and it's hard to hit anyways, and I'd say you'd want to be doing Axe mode horizontals after that anyways, but Swaxe, Swaxe is all the way go from the beginning in this game so no charging, Blade mode gets past the hard ass, the wide swings hit it well, I say it's a better matchup.

I will just say good luck in my opinion 4u has the hardest G rank in the series (excluding frontier that shit is built different)

my first g-rank armor was velocidrome x i think.

I agree with the molten tigrex, that monster is so fun to hunt using cb and he is perfect since he gives a good challenge, molten is also a good monster to practice guard point. Also if you really want to build a g rank armor in g1 go for the tetsucabra

Normal Dalamadur honestly, I still love, but his weaknesses are, weird. Getting on his back isn't much worth it honestly, but yeah sometimes the weak points are soft, sometimes they're not. His subspecies is better with this, though, since the weak points actually glow when they're vulnerable.

do the event quest with oroshi and regular kirin. i swear this quest made me rage quit for the first time ever and i have never ever got that bad since then lol like i even had a mini panic attack.

does he not have a journal on him finishing the main story quest with shagaru?

Kirin of any kind is very annoying to fight with cb....gs on the other hand or even hammer is amazing...

I've been wondering this for a while, but does anyone know why the capture card makes the footage so much more crusty than the 3DS screen? Its a problem with every 3DS capture card I've seen.

the game is crusty as hell on 3ds, you just don't notice cuz the screen is super tiny, the moment you blow that to a monitor size everything becomes super visible

I...think 'instability' might actually be a thing in Monster Hunter. Not sure. I once had a bullfango flinch me while i was blocking, to be killed by Narga's tail slam when i think, were i at that same health i was chipped to, not blocking, at rest, i could've survived it. If it is, then the same logic might apply to you healing in that moment. Maybe you have different defence at rest and committing actions, i don't know, but it took me til Sunbreak TU1 to find out how status applies so I probably have yet more to learn.

Dalamadur ain’t that annoying it’s way better with friends. Also yeah ukanlos is way better than akantor imo

I never liked gigantic monsters in Monster Hunter. Its very hit or miss, no in-between
