It's Sindy Slack.... Paul's sister. She went out with Pete Davies
They played our pub in '95, along with a Brighton band called Fludd, cracking night...

Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it, tis from an old Dutch TV show called "TopPop" so unless you lived in the land where the "Dutchies" live then that's probably why you'd never seen it before... 😊
I was eleven when this came out and due to the nature of punk a heavy emphasis was placed on punk credentials, they were always proper, what with Charlie's hair and that and such words as comes out his mouth, and still to this day xx he passed by me on his way to the stage in Glasgow and listened to my story of how I played this song to my daughters , that they were tomorrow's girls themselves, not pre-programmed, and I hugged him and kissed him on the cheek, thankfully he neither spat on me or puked, or whatever it is punks are supposed to do.

That's a cool story Iain mate. I was eleven when I saw my first ever gig too: Elvis Costello, (and the Boxes, of course). What an event that was - My first ever live show: I even remember the name of the support band; Clive Langer and the Boxes , (Doubly cool; as no one had ever heard of them and their name was as trendy as it was ludicrous). Seeing someone as cool as Elvis on a mid-week 'school night' too, coming home after 9.00 pm ... I felt the complete n'er do-well; destined for the dole queue, maybe even a custodial sentence. Still that was the night that launched my love-affair with music and I've never, ever, looked back. I discovered music was an integral part of my soul and became the cornerstone of my life. I wonder what auld Mr. McManus is up to now: Ahh, the luxury of Google: Hopefully, he's still alive: I'm guessing he's a father, ... and that he gave up music roughly five years after his last chart entry. Let's just hope he didn't drink himself to death, eeking out an existence in ever smaller gigs attended by pensioners to whom he extolled the mischief he had on tour. Let's see ....
Remember this very clearly. In Finland U.K.Subs was one of the greats.
Great great great belta👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
First band I ever saw. Jeez, that was about 45 years ago.

1st band I ever saw too. Bournemouth 1981 I was 14, and Charlie brought me a drink at the bar. Still have signed flyer..Long live Charlie Harper.
Saw them with the Vibratoŕs and 999 in '88 in London, fantastic! Damien
I saw the UK SUBS this week in Munich! Long live Charly Harper! Gruß aus München 👍🍺😉🍺👏
In 1983 I've seen them in Warsaw. It was fresh, rebellious and intense experience.
I can only remember Stranglehold....I was more of a 2 tone kid !! Happy Days 🥂🥂

2 Tone and Ska was (still is) my thing too Ian but growing up back then I got the best of both worlds as many of the people I hung about with were Punks so we all got to listen too each others music, they were indeed Happy Days and I wouldn't change it for the world... 😃

@@MadFranko008 OF COURSE NOT. THANK YOU.
Thanks a lot for uploading so much wonderful music. Some of it is completely new to me. I was born in 1996, but I prefer to listen to music from the old days, as well as current music from genres like post-punk, new wave, synthpop and similar genres. Through you, I've already discovered some great songs/bands and I want to go through all your uploads to discover even more new music.

You are more than welcome Lukas and thank you for your words and enjoying and appreciating the music on this wee channel of mine... 😀 For me music is the best thing in life, there is music for all the different moods/ times in life from simply chilling out and relaxing to dancing and having a great time too, for times when you are down or sad to times when you are happy and full of life there's music out there that covers it all... Always nice to hear when someone discovers music that they have never heard before and even better when they enjoy that new music they discover... I hope you find even more music round here that you enjoy and here hoping you have many decades ahead of you to enjoy what I consider to be one of the greatest things in life, that being great music of course... 😉
Fantastic
Shit, I was 14 , Awesome X
I underestimated how revolutionary this sound was back then. I used to hate 70s punk because I thought it was cheesy and dated and not heavy/fast enough... but this is where it all started, really.
@MadFranko008

"Cheesy !!!", "Dated !!!" "not heavy/ fast enough !!!" You had a very bizarre (and incorrect) view of Punk music in that case !!! 🙄 How the heck can Punk be considered "Cheesy" ???. Cheesy is crap like Terry Wogan singles that hit the charts or "St Winifreds School Choir" with the cheesiest single of all time "I'm only a poor little Sparrow"... How can it be "dated" when it was a completely new and different sound at the time and still is even to this very day and all the same sounding monotonous cheese that passes for music these days!!! As for not "fast/ heavy enough" then gawd your ears and notions regarding some of the most frantic and often pounding music of all time are clueless to say the least !!! Honestly, I've read and heard some very strange views about Punk music over the past 40 plus years but your views on it have to be the most incorrect and so off the mark ones I have ever read, are you sure you aint completely deaf and are just making things up based on videos you've seen but never actually heard !!! 🤔 😂

@@MadFranko008 I listen to doom metal on occasion. Everything else sounds like a quaint memory of Grandma's house in comparison.

@@andrewmccombs7347 Typically so called doom metal is played at a slower pace/ beat/ tempo compared to heavy metal of which it is a sub genre, so most of it would be like a 3 legged tortoise compared to Punk... But hey, those are your opinions be they right or wrong, the only thing that matters at the end of the day is no matter what the genre of the music is or how fast, slow, loud or quiet it may be then as long as you enjoy it and appreciate it then nothing else matters... 😉

@@MadFranko008 And really I just had some sort of thing agaoinst 70s punk for some reason. I used to be the same way with a lot of stuff. There was a time when I hated live albums. There was a time when I thought music theory was for nerds. There was a time when I thought babies came from storks.

@@MadFranko008 I love the stuff from the late 70s that was kind of ‘raw’. True punk attitude, what’s not to like / lol. If they were having a ‘midlife crisis’ they would look foolish 😂😂😂🙏

It was originally from "TROS" but "TROS" footage was taken over by "TopPop" and that is where this video is from as "TopPop" are nowadays the only one who transmits or makes available old "TROS" footage... 😉
