Probably the greatest Kentucky team in their storied history. Maybe one of the greatest college basketball teams of all-time. How many teams can say they won the first 4 NCAA Tournament games each by 20 or more points? That's insane.

Yeah UK 1996 still holds the record for point differential in the NCAA tournament and regular season. UConn this past year had an opportunity to tie or even break it had they beaten San Diego state by atleast 30. 1996 UK is without a doubt the best to ever step on the court in NCAA history.

Would have to agree. I saw this team play at the Metrodome in the sweet 16 and elite 8...Utah (van horn) and Wake (Tim Duncan) were no jokes, and Kentucky playing them made it look like a joke. Best team I have ever seen, live or on TV.

@@troydixon4425 they do, people who lived long enough to witness. UK almost 3 peated in 96-98, hadn't Derek Anderson got hurt they beat Arizona in 97 and that game never even goes to overtime. and that was with the bench from this 96 squad. That would go on to win another championship in 98.

Not only our coach but have such a great 10 yr run only to be followed up by a terrible last 4 yrs. Cal had 7 teams to make the elite 8. Out of those 7 teams 1 won the title. If he had gone 3 for 7 he would have been thought of a lot differently.

Best college basketball team of all time. PERIOD. The two teams that beat them were in the final four and Kentucky beat them both in that season. I believe their average margin of victory was close to 30 points that season. And let’s not forget against LSU where they put up 86 in the first half

The 96' Kentucky team had every piece necessary to win the National Championship. They had length, quickness, athleticism, experience, & depth. They were legitimately 11 or 12 deep that year with players coming off the bench. They crashed the boards hard at both ends of the floor, shot the 3-ball and free throws well, but above all they defended like a bunch of rabid dogs that were starving. Whether or not they were the greatest team all-time at Kentucky is debatable, but they were easily the best team that Rick Pitino had during his time at Kentucky.

They were also a team of redemption, The '95 team was good enough to win it all, They carried that Carolina loss with them all the way to the Meadowlands.

Easily one if the best championship teams assembled over the past 50 yrs. This team had experience and young talent that bought in to a team concept and played so hard for each other. Thats why they were the best. Cal's UMASS team was great the whole yr. Those two teams should have been on the opposite side of the brackets so they would have played for the title.

To condition myself: I am now 31 and watch coll. bball more than just about anyone and go to games all over (went to wisc and marquette) My mom (huge gopher fan) took me to the sweet 16 and elite 8 ganes in MN. I have never seen a better team live or in tv than this 96 Kentucky team. I hate Kentucky, but what a treat it wasto watch this team. Unreal. The ball movement, the presure, the shooting....unmatched.

I think we lost 1 game in the regular season that year and maybe we lost the SEC Championship game I’m not sure. But this was by far the best college team I have ever seen to this day.

(split umass and miss st) both of their L's made the final 4. the 3 teams over the next yrs (the underclassmen) won runner -up (in ot) 97, won the Ncaa again in 98, made the elite 8 in 99. THE BEST BASKETBALL TEAM IN THE HISTORY OF THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HATE ALL U NEED BUT NO DOUBT!!!

This is still the best college team I've seen for a full season. I've seen highlights of some other tremendous teams, but this one I saw first hand and was so loaded they were destined to win it all. Too bad the committee fucked up and had #1 & #2 (clearly the best two teams) meet in the semifinal instead of the final. Some say Michigan w/ Webber & co., but they never won it all. UNLV was great, but not near as deep and loaded. This past season's UK team may be #2.

Looking at Pitino in this video brings some clarity as to why we hate him so much. Dude was the best coach in CBB and could've won several more championships while creating a dynasty to rival that of Coach K. His fall(s) from grace are a huge slap in the face for pretty much everyone tied to the state of Kentucky. Definitely a lesson on the price of greed.

Yes, How dare he pursue his dream!! He should have just stayed where we wanted him to and not follow what he wanted to do. It's a lesson that you should just do what other people want you to do for them and ignore your own wants and desires, even if it is your life. And Damnit, why did Calipari leave Umass when they liked him so much there, or Memphis where they loved him? He was so greedy deciding to come to UK!
