It's a great bike in this price that Royal Enfield has produce, just did my first longest ride from Darjeeling to Kolkata with my wife which is 650km, total 1300km up n down..and no issues in this bike. Had a great experience..Thanxx RE

When hunter was first released in asian subcontinent, instantly all the motocycle magazine reviewed that this bike will be a flop, as royal enfield already had a city dweller called scram 411(most people use the scram in city). But to everyones surprise hunter became the second highest sold bike in India after Royal enfield classic. It increased the sales of RE by 53%.

@@akjk87 well not to be offensive the motorway speed in India is around 100km/hr whereas the motorway speed in other american and European countries whould be lot higher compared. Thats the reason enfield commercialise this bike as city commuter.

Right, I just subscribed, because instead of just repeating others and saying it is no use for UK roads and motorways, you took it out and tried it with an open mind. Obviously not for the person that does constant motorway miles, but it looks fine for the occasional motorway blast if needed. And for real people not bike testers, the 100mpg is really great, lower taxation class as well - we can't all afford 12k Japanese bikes can we.

The price is right that I can "mess with it" with the extra change. Air filter, decat and pipe to help it breathe betteer. When Hitchcock/tec bike parts get a drop in cam that would be a treat!!

Lots of people haven’t realised yet that bikes like this are basically the future of petrol motorcycles. With legislation being constantly squeezed and fuel costs rising year upon year, they make perfect sense. Plus the longer you ride bikes, the more you tend to appreciate that going back to lighter and smaller CC’s with less equipment, is actually a lot of fun. Those who are still drunk on only measuring bikes by horsepower alone, need to wake up and smell the clean air zones, smart motorways, and fuel prices. I’d get one myself, if I hadn’t just bought a Scram 4 days ago from In2moto 😂👍

Brakes are great, at least compared to my other bikes. Bar end mirrors are wonderful. Really glad the fella down the way had it for sale. He paid about $5,000 US, and I paid $3,500 US, used. Bought a RE Hunter. The Retro model in black with wire wheels. It's available only in India. Great fun to ride. I wish I could post a photo here. Lovely set of accessories coming on the market for the bike. Very affordable bike for the Indian rider who wants something more than a commuter bike. The Retro model has a drum brake at the back, metal grab handle behind the seat and simpler switches on the handle. The clock and instruments are also a little different. The waiting period for the bike is 90 days.

My reaction to the Hunter was just like this. Liked the look of it, was very impressed with a test ride and bought one. It's been a joy. Handles beautifully, sounds lovely, just a nice bike to take for a spin. It's the smallest bike I've owned for some time, usually had 500 twins and the like, but I've not enjoyed a bike so much for ages. Makes me smile every time I ride it. And it's a bargain. It'll be my daughter's first bike post test, after which we'll share it for a while. It'll be perfect as a first bike, but it's entertaining enough for me with over thirty years of riding under my belt. If I don't get a Scram after, I'll get another one of these.

Much as I like the Classic (having owned a Bullet 500 in the past) I think this might be the best of the 350s for someone my size (6'4'' unfortunately). All it needs is a set of hard panniers and a top box but that is just me being me. Thanks for posting this excellent video).

There’s a ‘classic’ version of the Hunter in India with spoked wheels- surprised it’s not released in the UK. But I have doubts over whether A2 holders in the Uk would be happy with an underpowered bike. Or is RE hoping they would buy it as a second bike to be ridden around town? For me any 350cc will feel under powered if you normally ride bigger bikes. That being said my last few bikes I’ve bought have been over 1000cc and I still loved playing on this bike. It’s a small bike. Really easy to ride. Great around town and so much fun on country lanes. Great MPG. Great price less than £4000. My understanding is that the meteor and Classic are really good sellers in the UK and I think this is a better bike. Seems faster. Looks nicer (personal preference of course) only time will tell. It takes Royal Enfield to deliver a 350cc bike with the raw power of a Japanese unrestricted 125. - And a parallel twin 650cc with less than 2/3 power of the Japanese competition. My 500cc GPZ500 parallel had 59bhp to the Interceptors' 650, and my SV650 twin supposedly 69. So by the time you psent more liberating a few ponies, you spent as much as buying a better bike like a Triumph. A high performance motor is always more fragile. this air cooled single motors with screw type valve adjusters are as simple as a modern motor can be. i understand that for european and american roads 10 more hp are a requirement but still, some people prefer to ditch some performance in favor of price, looks and easy going mechanics.

I had the speedo showing 70mph and it felt like it had a little bit more in it but I eased off at 70 with it being new. It does seem to be a little bit quicker than the meteor and classic. Wether that’s down to it being lighter or engine tuning I’m not sure.

Add a red rooster exhaust and a Stage 2 DNA filter Kit and the Meteor will happily cruise all day at 80mph I've heard. *Crap Game*

Nope the Meteor has a speed limiter which kicks in at 72mph so any power increase does nothing for top speed.

It's all in the ecu software so unless some can hack it no. The dna filter and cover does improve performance as you say, personally I am quite happy with the top speed as it is.

The only thing I don’t like about the Hunter 350 so far is how soon you have to have the bike serviced (300 miles) and how much it costs to do a basic service. The local dealer wants £200, so they can get stuffed. I could do it myself for 20 quid.

  • @GillyBikes

That’s fairly normal with most bikes. Apparently they have cheap oil in from the factory so after it’s ran for a few miles normally between 200-600 miles it needs an oil change after that first one it’s normal yearly service. To be fair I’ve bought a few new bikes over the last few years. I had to do the same with a Kawasaki, Honda and a Suzuki. Pretty much the same.

@@GillyBikes I’ve been ringing around the closest 3 Royal Enfield dealers to me. Nearest one is £200. Next is £169 and the furthest in Malvern quoted £150. Typical! Although they’ve only just emailed me to confirm this price is for existing customers. At the back of the official owners manual it suggests that for the first 4 ‘Free services’ the labour charge is free. Check it out yourself. It all smells fishy to me.

When I say quite quickly I don’t mean I thrashed it. More it got there without struggling. I think people need to see if these bikes are capable of motorway speeds. It would have been great to have it for a few weeks and build up the miles but unfortunately I only had a few hours and needed to check it out. I would buy that bike in a heart beat. So much fun.

As a Meteor owner I can tell you getting to 65mph is easy but the final 5mph takes a bit longer and if it's uphill you'll be lucky to get 70mph at all. Not complaining as I avoid motorways anyway.

That bike is nothing to write home about. Yamaha sr400 is a real classic bike with a Kickstarter and is virtually unchanged other than fuel injection from the bike I knew in high school in 70s. I love riding my BS a 250 singles. They make more horsepower and have a higher top speed. If I have to go 90 miles an hour I have bigger British bikes for that. When maintained and taking care of properly there is nothing wrong with a real British motorcycle. I would much rather have the real thing than a lukewarm copy. My BSA 250 single is rebuildable forever it is not designed to be Obsolete and thrown away. A nice shape Esa 250 single you can pick up for a pittance compared to what you pay for a Royal Enfield 350. With a Royal Enfield you have a unit construction motor that puts out a pre unit level of horsepower. Once you try to upgrade the bike and replace all of the cheap parts on it all of a sudden it is not a cheap motorcycle but still performs like one. Once you change the pipe to shock absorbers, the seat, you have more money into the bike then what you will ever get out of it if you sell it. I understand on eBay there are lots of 350 for sale from people who bought them and found them to be inadequate for what they need. If grouped all of the 300 to 350 cc little bikes made in India it would come in dead last in all categories. Royal Enfield had it easy because India had very high tariffs on anything that came into the country. Now they have competition from domestic manufacturers that make small bikes for big Brands like KTM and BMW. Frankly if you did not have Royal Enfield to appeal to Brits and instead had an Indian brand name or a Japanese brand name you would not be as giddy as a schoolgirl over it. I prefer a real British motorcycle that was built in Britain from British parts. NADA motorcycle with a British name like Royal Enfield or Triumph that is made in Thailand from Taiwanese part. I am not against any motorcycle because if its place of origin after all I am from the generation that learned how to ride on Japanese motorcycles pacifically Hondas. In the old days practically every one of the big four had a small by either single or twin for New Riders or for commuter bikes. They were not the Mainstay of the lines they were simply one of the many choices that they provided to the consumer. Now that wages have stagnated worldwide people cannot afford to buy motorcycles that are not built-in low labor wage countries. It is perceived to be such a bargain that it is compared to the greatest thing since sliced bread. Maybe maybe not

Lols. I particularly liked the giddy as a school girl comment 😂. I get what you’re saying, but this bike put a big smile on my face. For me that’s what really matters when I look for my next bike. The Royal Enfield being British thing has long gone. They have been built in India for a long time. I think we like them because they are so well priced compared to other bikes and they have bags of character. They are not the fastest bikes but they are fast enough. For reference most bikes get me as giddy as a school girl. 😂
