French military hardware is far inferior. While the US military is unmatched British military hardware is catching up. Also realistically I don't want to hear that a this sub is better than the US Navy Columbia class ballistic missile sub because its not. The Dreadnaught class ballistic missile sub is either equal or slightly worse. It doesn't matter if its less stealthy or if its payload lets it down. Example try comparing the Daring class destroyer to the Arleigh Burke class destroyer. The Daring class is let down by its payload. The Royal Navy has the best naval ships that Europe has to offer but the US Navy still has the best in the world even though China had surpassed it as the largest navy. Overall this Dreadnaught class ballistic missile sub is a excellent sub.

The Ariane 5 is French with input from other European nations. The US Atlas 5 can't leave the ground without the Russian RD-180 (stockpiled pre-war) Engines. But more importantly, you 3 are begging for a future filled with War. So, after you verify that FACT and explain why Defense Contractors shipped jobs to China right after the Cold War consider this : Here's a quote from a now deceased man, he and his wife were lifelong Peace Activists : _"We're told that 'If we want Peace, We must prepare for War'. Rather than missiles it would launch 'drone fast boats', which in turn could carry and launch any number of airborne drone 'assault packages' for specific missions, or massive drone attacks to overwhelm any air defense system. I only know half of everything but I feel like something of this nature is the future of the aircraft carrier.

I read "Running Critical" over 30 years ago. It's a book about the development of the 688 Class (Los Angeles) attack subs. Near the end it describe how the "new" US subs compared to those of other nations (NATO and Soviet). The take-away was that the UK subs are at least a generation ahead of the US in almost every way, especially in reactor and propulsion. In addition, the UK Captains routinely beat the US in naval war games. This looks like the major NATO countries are all leveling-up to the new UK standards.

@@lukedogwalker The US has to build, maintain, and crew many more submarines than NATO nations, which, while they may cost less per unit, will cost far more for the entire program, decisions must be made that might cut back on R&D due to costs per unit. British and other NATO subs *are* more costly per unit than US subs are usually. As for British crews being better, having only 8 subs means you have far smaller numbers of crew needed, so you can have the cream of the crop. While the US sub fore does get the cream of the crop, they need far more crew for their 67 subs, so once getting the best of the best, they will have to start lowering standards little by little to get the numbers required. This is the case for any large organization. The Netherlands, Denmark, and the UK have all routinely beaten our subs in wargames because of the dilution of skill throughout the US sub force and the necessary reduction in quality of equipment to sustain required quantity.

@@jarodarmstrong509 The US did not cover "our asses" at it's own expense though. The term was "lend lease" and we paid hell of a lot in return. Rationing in the UK was worse in the immediate post war than it had been during the war and the UK did not finish paying for WW2 until 2007. As I said in my reply, you get a lot back in return if you are able to provide the US with something they do not have and the UK would indeed be worse off if relations were broken. Just remember though that the CIA (and the OSS before it) were largely modelled on MI6 and the SOE. Your Delta force and Seal Teams were modelled on the SAS/SBS. Things might be weighted, but it is still a two way street.

I'm being realistic with you because I find your comment staggering & naive to be honest. The best thing about it, the likes of you support the suffering we impose in others. While you receive no benefit of this whatsoever. The peace loving leaders we have look after their own with their I'll gotten gains. While it's us commoners who earn their gains & suffer most in their games of greed. But if the BBC says their new Dr Evil caused all the problems & we are just going to make things right. It must be true mustn't it? Jesus christ ignorance is bliss.

Ah , those were the days when we didn't have a chip on our shoulders, and could have a laugh at our own expense .
