If you have completed a GMC accepted internship, you don't need to do FY1. You can apply for FY2 jobs. UK doctors don't normally do MD to specialise and become a consultant. We do the specialty training programme. Do check out this video Specialty Training (Residency) in UK kzread.info/dash/bejne/aJx6rMmOXdPZdag.html. You will need to take exams based on the specialty training programme you choose.

Hi, after mbbs, doctors here do FY1 (which is equivalent to internhsip in other countries), after FY1 doctors do FY2. You can apply for a training FY2 post or a non-training FY2 post. Training post will be better but the places are limited. It is ok to do a non-training FY2 post. The salary, support and job is the same. Whatever FY2 post you do make sure you obtain the FACD(foundation achievement of competency document). This can be obtained in a training and a non-training FY2 post. As long as you have completed FY2- and obtain the FACD, you can apply for further specialty training in your desired field.

No having more than one attempt in MBBS will not have any impact on your application. GP training in the UK is easy to get in. After GMC registration, apply for a non-training job here for 6-12 months to gain some NHS experience. After that, you can apply for GP training programme (3 years).

Or simply 'the different country different rules')? From medical side, I just want a decent field/speciality which can give me a decent lifestyle, money & security. @@mohammadsaif001 Hi, one of the reason specialisation is so long in the UK is because there is a service provision element to the training. You work for the NHS while you train. NHS is a free healthcare service in the UK. It is not always a 50/50 split between training and service provision. So maybe that is why it is so long. I would suggest doing GP specialty training. I am thinking of giving SCE in Respiratory Medicine as well, in 2020 - right alongside the PACES. 1.After securing full MRCP + full specialization in respiratory medicine from India + SCE in respiratory medicine, which route do you suggest I take? The IMT - ST3 route or CESR? (Or any alternate route) 2. Does the SCE add weight in getting selected for a subspeciality? 3. Is language test necessary after doing MBBS + PG + MRCP + SCE ? After IMT and MRCP, apply for higher specialty training in your desired medical specialty eg cardiology, respiratory, acute medicine, neurology, gastroenterology, renal medicine etc. Best to do a non-training FY2 post before entering a training programme. Most IMGs apply for a non-training post for 6-12 months before entering a training programme. This will give you NHS experience before entering a training programme.
