    And I hope the cammer stayed where he was (blocking the roadway) for the same amount of time he was blocked to show the blue car driver the impact, This would have caused the blue car driver to tell the other driver that she (blue car) was blocked in because of her actions.

    Ref #5. Many years ago when I was driving buses, I was at a bus stop in a bus lane. The last passenger got on, I closed the doors, checked the mirrors, took the brake off just started to pull away and a small kid run across the road right in front of me. I slammed on the brake. The kid stood by the doors, he couldn't have been more the 6 or seven. I asked where his mother was and he point across the road. There about a hundred yards was this woman just walking along. She had told him to run to the bus and tell me to wait. I didn't half have a moan at here. Not only for me just seeing him but he could have been hit by a bus coming the other way. Some people just don't deserve to have children.

    The gap behind the lorry was probably no better too, everyone drives too close to each other. I don't see anything wrong with the van driving, but the lorry's reaction to keep closing the gap to a ridiculous level is the worst thing here.

    @@koolandkrazy8217 And the van driver forced its way into a gap which wasn't big enough forcing the lorry to change speed (you can see it having to brake due to the action of the van driver) which is a definition of driving without consideration for another road user (see rule 144). Incidentally that bit of road is also uphill so forcing a lorry to slow down going up it can cause quite a delay as the lorry not only has to regain the speed lost but it will take much longer - it takes a lot to get 40t accelerated back up to 56 mph, unlike a 3.5t van.

  • @chrisfifield-smith

    @@cigmorfil4101 in a situation like that it would be impossible to join the motorway if you weren't allowed to make another driver change their speed. A good, considerate drive in the HGV would have lifted a little and allowed the space for the traffic to merge and keep everything flowing. The highway code rule 144 applies to the HGV as well as the van, requiring the HGV to act with consideration to the van too, and other merging traffic.

  • @cigmorfil4101

    @cigmorfil4101

    @@chrisfifield-smith As the van has to the lanes there is more emphasis on the van driver to ensure it can safely change lanes without causing inconvenience to other road users - see rule 133 which is giving a clear example to drivers of an application of the law of rule 144. If the van driver was to change lanes like that when on its test would it pass having caused the lorry to change speed? Further, look at rule 126 which clearly states that large vehicles need a greater distance to stop and suggests a double gap to the vehicle in front of them. The van driver clearly didn't consider this either that the gap which it considered was large enough for it _had it been between two cars_ was *not* big enough for it between a car and a lorry. Perhaps a preceeding car should have widened its gap to the van in, or perhaps the van driver should have considered the lorry wity all its extra momentum and not just raced to get ahead of it?

    @@dragonsmonk The car chose the left lane to the roundabout when it was clearto enter ready to leave the roundabout. The LGV didn't try to change lanes until the last minute at which time the lane was in its blind spot. As it had no clear view of the whole of lane lane, the LGV should have followed the clearly marked lane 2 exiting until it could clearly see lane 1, particularly as the road would be straight. Back in the 1990s LGV and PCV drivers were taught to protect their nearside by not leaving it wide open (particularly with a clear lane) and moving to the left most lane possible, which this LGV driver failed to do. The real question is why did the LGV driver fail to choose the correct lane at the appropriate time?

    This clip is more of a car leaving the junction clear whilst in a queue rather then specifically letting another car out. Otherwise I agree, in a lot of cases letting someone out, especially if they’re turning right can be dodgy if they’re not a switched on driver…

    17 , It's bad enough when idiots in cars brake check HGV's but for a HGV driver to do that on another HGV driver , who is loaded with a highly flammable load which I'm sure had the warning plate on the trailer was disgraceful and worthy of having his licence at least suspended for a few months if not cancelled . I hope the cammer reported him to the police .

    0:36 Suicide? I only see a HGV driver who's blind or deliberately taking 4+ seconds to react and when he reacts he's slamming the brakes instead of just letting off the accelerator. Bit of an anti-social merge by the van driver, but the danger is 100% on the HGV driver. 1:48 is it bad if I was already thinking "They ended parking it for HER in the end, aren't they"? 😆 6:44 So just ten more to go before we achieve partially Renault-free roads! What always amuses me is how people immediately stop wherever they are if they've had even the slightest bump, many years ago due to someone breaking rather suddenly I bumped the back of a car at a very busy roundabout, no damage, no injuries but the driver got out straight away (this was blocking the only right turn lane), I just told him to go over to the other side of the roundabout where there was a small road that no-one uses where I passed over my details if there was any damages (there weren't).

    It is merging traffics responsibility to merge safely, whilst drivers on main carriageway should make it a non event if possible and make it safe you can't blame the problem totally on drivers on the main carriageway. You can also see how close the van driver got behind the car in the 2nd lane after it had passed shows they make it a habit of trying to squeeze in or did they not want the lorry to get there first 🙂
