Yes, the car driver was a cnut, but the parent on the cycle (I assume it was a cycle, but could hear a little petrol motor too) was riding the WRONG way down a ONE WAY street (yes, this applies to cyclists too unless signposted otherwise...which this street doesn't - Leahurst Road, London, SE13).

You’re wrong. The bike is allowed to pass in slow moving traffic and can filter, as tight as he likes but can’t hit anything. Passing at the island-crossing isn’t a clever idea for that tho. The first incorrect action is the car horn. Then the biker stopping for a word - can be seen as road rage. The car driver then antagonises. The rider then proceeds with criminal damage - of which he could pay the bill for any damage done to the car - which looks like none. All triggered by a car driver who doesn’t know the HWC.

You show me where it says "as tight as he likes" 😂 he then antagonised the car driver by obnoxiously shaking his head, like the car driver had done something wrong (which he hadn't) The car driver then honked his horn to get the bikers attention because why did he shake his head which resulted in the bike rider turning to violence. Both in the wrong but the biker started it then escalated it.

@@RossTownsend - it doesn’t have to say tight. It just simply defines filtering is allowed - there is no constraint on tightness, and therefore falls to a judgement call. Really simple. Tight, wide, you choose. Anyone can shake a head. People mutter to themselves. But the car horn is incorrectly used as per the code, and thereafter the bike is escalating the possible interpretation of road rage by stopping. Then the vandalism. Then the guy getting out, again seen as RR by the police. All of these are acts they wouldn’t do in front of police or to a police car - whereas pulling up close behind a vehicle, waiting for the gap to widen such that he can fit… those initial bike manoeuvres are all things you’ll see bikes do daily and within proximity of police cars regardless.

Porsche are getting dangerous too. Had someone in the inside lane on a roundabout try and take the first exit off after leaving the same junction as me, naturally I went first and they took offence. Despite being about 1 second behind me

I’ll never understand cyclists who casually run red lights or pull out without pausing. On the whole the worst thing that can happen to a car driver behaving in such a stupid manner is that they write off their vehicle and someone else’s. But the worst thing that can happen to a cyclist doing the same thing is that they’re dead and smeared across the tarmac. They are so crazily vulnerable on those things.

looks like it's a toucan crossing on the left so they used that as it was beeping and went straight back onto the road afterwards as they saw it was clear. not excusing it as its a pretty egregious swerve and not what you sohuld do (join the slower bike lane earlier) but this is less of a blatant run a red light and more of a maximising flow on a commute they know well

It's also not just a case of "it's only the cyclist being hurt" as well - I've read stories about how the driver who hit the cyclist can just get emotionally and mentally traumatised by it, to the point they lose their jobs and their families over it. It's an oversimplification of it, but that's the gist of it. There's also the fact that cyclists can easily endanger pedestrians because they think red lights dont apply to them. Was one dashcam video on a different channel which showed a cyclist jumping a red light at a pelican crossing and ploughing straight into a pushchair with a toddler in it.

True, but also people often see someone clearly a bit unsure and lost, indicating to try to get to the right lane, and instantly accelerate to block them off. Very few ever just ease off a tiny bit to help them out. But then in most of these vids, you can practically hear the erection the cammer gets when he spies a opportunity to race into a spot where he'll be technically in the right if hit.

You have right of way but remember if you made them stop dead when they're trying to merge into a motorway and you *could* have let them in, you're the worst type of person

That last one is proof that everyone over retirement age needs to retake their test every 2 or 3 years. My grandad when I was younger was legally allowed to drive even though he could never see a speed bump and had delayed reactions. That sort of driver should never be allowed on the road

8:00 - Being a confused old man doesn't excuse dangerous driving, if anything, it should mean licence being revoked if he's not able to drive safely anymore.

The cyclist running the red light on the Mall is interesting. About 15 years ago, I would bike along there every day, starting from Paddington and heading through Westminster and over to the South Bank. There was a cyclist I saw a couple of times every week, who would continually run red lights and just generally behave like an idiot. One day I got sick of him and stopped alongside him near Horseguards. I said my piece about what a pillock he was, and then realised that I was talking to the then Prime Minister David Cameron. Happy days!

For no.4 it's both. He thinks red lights don't apply to him but he certainly didn't see the Police Car. One day a car will take him out going through a junction. Hope the driver of that car isn't badly affected when it happens.

I saw the result of such a cyclist in the centre of Oxford once. Cyclist ignored a red light. The Biffa lorry with a green traffic light never even saw them. The result was a blanket in the road with a pair of feet poking out from under it and a red puddle. They cycled through the red light and under the rear axle… imagine hitting an apple with a sledge hammer. Well, that was their head.

Definitely a life experience for him. Technically the Highway Code often gives both users advice, telling them both to avoid a situation. In this instance the car cannot change lanes until it can see it is clear to do so (rain, bikes filtering the lot). Equally the biker will have rules to follow, but less of a MUST and more of a should or DO NOT - so should not overtake vehicles indicating right (167). Seems like common sense too. Life preservation and all that.

I made the same mistake you suggest the van driver in the first clip made recently. Newly installed set of lights on a recently redesigned junction near me, which are poorly positioned so you don’t actually have a good view of the lights from the front position in the queue (none on the opposite side of the junction). Green filter arrow goes on, and I go meaning to go straight on. The old junction and light sequence didn’t have a filter lane and this added to the moment of confusion. I realised my mistake quickly and stopped short of causing any issues, and carefully reversed back making sure the car behind hadn’t moved forwards. Easy enough to make the mistake with poorly positioned lights at a new junction, but easy enough to fix the mistake and not cause a problem. Don’t know how you can manage it with well positioned lights at the opposite side of the junction which should be easily visible unless you’re just not paying much attention

@@ifonly.4063 Far from clear as filtering is fine through slow moving traffic and the highway code also tells you not to make unnecessary lane changes, which the car was certainly doing, although being a biker, should have see the indicator and waited for the car.

My mum took 6 attempts to pass her driving tests, and she was a terrible driver mainly because she was nervous. Well I’m pretty confident this is a dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction (you can see traffic on the other carriageway to the right) so the lights were meant as a warning to the oncoming car that they’re driving the wrong way. Better to risk a little glare and hope they realise their mistake rather than let them carry on and possibly kill someone

People with cameras always got something to say. Almost always looking to pick a fight. Most of these videos could easily be non issues if you just deal with them appropriately 😂

6:47 whilst the VW was entitled to go straight on in the right lane, it was the taking of that entitlement that led to the accident. The car on the left was slightly ahead and was indicating right from the moment they entered the roundabout. I'm not saying it wasn't the car in the lefts fault, they were in the wrong lane and wrongly assumed those to their right would also be going round the roundabout but the VW had ample time to spot the danger and ease off the gas to avoid a collision. IMO this shows how important hazard perception is and that sometimes slowing to avoid an accident is preferable to wasting even more time stopping to exchange details and having to get your car repaired.

Agreed but at the same time the car thst decided to go right from the left lane also had ample time to spot the VW and not go straight across him. Should've just continued straight and found somewhere safer to turn back around imo

The final clip showing why elderly drivers should be assessed as they are a danger to others and themselves. Their lack of awareness and reaction time can make them as dangerous as a drunk driver.

the biker rider in 12. remember its Check, signal, manoeuvre. if the car is indicating, assume they haven't seen you!

I have found that many motorists actually under estimate the speed of a bicycle. Cyclists, on the other hand should ride according to the following three words: I AM INVISIBLE!!! I read this many years ago, and, while I was riding Bicycles, and later on, a scooter, I rode accordingly and it kept me relatively safe. It is amazing though, as a pedestrian, motorists see you, but the second you get on a two wheeled mode of transport, you somehow become invisible.

You filtered past a few cars, came to a momentary block, you wait till the car clears the island and move off again you don't have a go at the car driver for moving while you try to squeeze through a gap that's too small.

#17 - in 1992 I was knocked off my motorcycle by a “confused old man” driving badly. 30 years later I am still living with the consequences. If they won’t stop driving voluntarily then it should be a matter for the police/DVLA. You’d got dashcam footage as evidence. I just hope that “confused old man” didn’t cause an accident later.

Yet again another video of why I said it should be mandatory to do an annual driving test. Its crazy to think you only have to pass one test then you can drive for the rest of your life without no refresher training. @@michaelh7741 Actually it does, it shows a clear indication of what the other driver intended to do, whether legal or otherwise, and the VW ignoring that clear indication rather than slowing down to assess the blatant hazard in front of them. If anything the clip makes it seem like the VW actively chooses to drive into the other car and they can't claim "I didn't know what they were doing" or they'll be told "well you should've slowed down and worked that out before proceeding on then." If we're talking fault it's 75/25 and an insurer would likely try and get it even closer to 50/50.

People make mistakes, and they act without thinking, and they get into the wrong lane and forget to check mirrors and that is all very bad, but what's worse is trying to ram them off the road with your car for daring to get in your way. That's psycho.

@mydogeatspuke they had NO right to turn right from that lane. Indicating doenst mean they can do that. If the lane says go straight on you MUST go straight on. Reckless driving and driving without due care and attention from other. Someone in the correct lane should not be punished because the other person decided at the last second they needed to go that way.

It's usually a combo of the (s)cammer speeding into problems and the other driver making a simple mistake

#2. A completely idiotic driver. No child should be on that type of road. Quite correct to ride on the pavement. Where I live, I visit the cemetary every week to visit my husband's grave, and along the quite road, there's a primary school, and they teach the children to ride on the main road. Its a brilliant thing to do by teaching not only the children, but drivers as well, how to proceed🤩

The car driver wasn't on the phone, his passenger was. However, the driver wasn't wearing his seat belt. Motorbike shouldn't have tried to squeeze past at a traffic island either, there clearly wasn't a need to do so.
