    Can’t park opposite a junction or a position that blocks users emerging from their property (if that’s a private access) of which emergency services seems to be the reason given to move on. I know you can’t park where’s there’s a solid central line, but unsure about verge line (you’re not supposed to cross them whilst travelling). But commonly white verge lines are often accompanied by a no-stopping sign. That verge was roughly worn. It’s either a regular occurrence or it’s genuinely used by large vehicles exiting the opposing junction. Get a no stopping sign up if the above points aren’t held true.

    It's not about the junction, or the side road. He wasn't legally allowed to use that exit as it is clearly stated "Works unit only" on the previous sign before the exit, and that is what the driver is being told. As an HGV driver you need to plan better in advance to take your breaks at a suitable place, and if the unexpected happens and you are delayed and go over your hours you need to do a print out and write an explanation. VOSA will let the occasional one slide, but too many shows lack of planning and will lead to a fine. Also, looking at his printout he has just done a straight 4h21 driving and already hit 9 hours for the day, so he is definitely using a 10, and could have taken his 45min break anywhen in the last 3 hours.

    I'm inclined to think the police were wrong about it being part of the motorway network, but probably correct in saying its a Live lane - those access roads are totally for Emergency vehicle use, and a big lorry is blocking the path, even partially - if somebody has an accident up the road and he blocks the path of an ambulance in a life threatening situation, that's the fault of the lorry driver. There's a reason most lorry drivers stop off for breaks at service stations - should've planned in advance instead of stopping there.

    Looking into this, the sign is defined in The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016, Part 28 item 18 (www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2016/362/schedule/12/made#tgp17-tbl17-tbd1-tr18-tc1) Also, looking at google maps (photos from Nov 2022) the "End of Motorway" Regulation sign has been removed - however if you look at the video at 6:18 you can see there is a sign that states "Works unit only" for the exit - so it's not for "normal" road use. That being said, as you can see the Google maps car went up there and took photos. My suspicion is that taking the road itself isn't an offence - however as the signage tells you not to, the Police could charge you under another law (Driving without due care and attention, etc).

  • @duckydashcam751
    @duckydashcam7519 ай бұрын

    At 6:18, the cammer conveniently left out the sign saying works unit only., not to forget across a junction... You're allowed to go over your time if you can't find somewhere to park as long as you write down the time when you park up and an explanation. No need to get arsey with the highways staff for trying to keep you and others safe.

    I think #13 fits under “suicidal impatience”. We had a huge set of roadworks near us as they were constructing a new traffic island. We were towing a large trailer with some cows (heffers about 10 month old) in it. Idiot bloke decided that because he couldn’t see past our trailer we must be the problem. He jumped into the right lane (wrong side of the road), drove up alongside and gave us a right telling off. We just gestured to the obviously red traffic lights and the queue of traffic in front of us. Mr stupid didn’t like being shown to be an arse so he took off through the red traffic light to make his point or something. Turns out that the traffic lights have been on red for a while because they’re loading a pile driver onto a flatbed lorry. Now we’ve got “genius of the year” reversing past an entire line of traffic who won’t let him back in under any circumstances. He’s almost being pushed by an extremely large abnormal load with its horn blaring. We gave him a round of applause as he reversed past. Last seen half a mile away and still reversing.😂

She has pulled out of the area behind the shops and started to turn left, obviously by then having to look the way she is going.
