I'm sure there's blame to go around, but the fact of The Fellowship's involvement in getting this law written and passed is very well known.

American religious groups have targeted Uganda. They have gone in and made special efforts and have had a lot to do with the writing of these anti-gay laws. Read "The Family" by Jeff Sharlet.

Prosecution and discrimination against LGBT people is a blemish on any country. Absolutely awful. Makes for such a bad reputation, it can't be good for the country's economy. I heard Uganda is very family oriented. Unfortunately there is a lot of misinformation out there: people just don't realise that family members could be gay or trans, people are influenced to see LGBT people as "Other". The Catch22 is that persecution stops people from getting to know LGBT people for who they are as people.

In homosexuality as in heterosexuality, there is an attraction that goes far beyond sexual attraction and the sexual act. It is the same sentiment for a homosexual as it is for a heterosexual person. Homosexuality is a natural phenomenon that occurs in 5 to 10% of a population in any society, be it Western, Oriental or African. It is up to each and everyone to live and let live, accepting such diversity as a human reality. To do otherwise is to not understand human nature.

@jorg nebel, talk like that in a civilized country would have you arrested. What right do you have to judge? What right do you have or does anyone have in your country to kill? This kind of talk and any action of this kind is savagery.
