But the UFC really wanted a champ in that UK market, so they pushed him to a title shot before he could stop a takedown. You would at least think he would throw more uppercut’s and knee’s to make people think twice about it.

He also throws very little variety of punches and strikes. A jab, a straight left and sometimes an uppercut. He barely uses his right hand to throw it over the guard, and a few leg kicks. He's a good example of a fighter that's too onedimensional and can't find ways to win fights because his arsenal isn't extensive enough. Du Plesis was backing up with a high guard, and that was enough to make Till miss most of his straight lefts, which is the only powerful strike he throws. He tried a couple of uppercuts... and that's about it. And when he was the one going forward he was getting countered too. He doesn't seem to be improving at all over the years.

Fighters will say their good to continue, but then end up with traumatic brain injuries later. Refs have a rep of not doing things right, but it saves people in the long run

@@emilioherrera9653 CTE doesn't come from big concussions but overwhelmingly so from persistent small ones. Early stoppages do not do as much as people think to mitigate that, and coupled with turning a potential crucial win into a defeat, a lot of fighters will stay trapped in a career dead end while subjecting themselves to the same level of damage while seeing less profits for it. Early stoppages are great when they're justified, but not every time a fighter is in a bad position or wobbled does it justify one.

Man till looked good when he got his hands going. His down slide seems almost all mental after his losing streak, but we see here he still has that crisp striking ability but something is blocking him from going back to that confident sharp striker he was before his KO loss

DDP applying the famous rugby tackle. That is what I don’t see in UFC much but it’s super effective. Rugby tackles should be used more often. DDP doing a very good job utilising that. Well done DDP. Can’t wait to see the DDP vs Izzy fight. Please make this fight happen before end of October so I can sneak out to watch the fight during my leave from work.

The move is basically a blast double in a wrestling context. It only works if you can get rly deep on the opponent or catch them in a weird position. Otherwise, it's easy to defend and you have to chain wrestle to get the TK just like every other MMA wrestler does

Du Plessis is undefeated in UFC. Great run and fantastic fighter

Picking Whittaker but I want to point out that Dricus consistently pulls wins out of the fire. He's got heart, and when someone is a huge underdog, that's the number one factor that leads to upsets.

he didn't do too bad if you exclude the 1st round and the finish. The finish was truly horrific, Till actually helped Dricus into mount, made no attempt to escape out the back door, rolled over and gave up real quick before Dricus could even get under the chin.

Till's counter timing reminds me of mahcida's even tho machida is grand master level , and those till counter elbows are the best ive seen in the ufc.

Quickly became a fan of Driscus during his ufc debut, and every fight after. Man is headhunting. Damn shame about Darren, though. Couldn't figure out the sauce. Some people just ain't built for this shit.

Highly entertaining fight, both of these guys gave it 100. Shoutout to them both

Super sad to re-watch the end of Till. The mind plays range games! Hope he can be back at fighting and do well.

Beautiful counter elbows, and in general slick striking from till, it’s a shame how easy he welcomed the takedowns and the lack of output / mixing up at times has affected this performance as well

@@FrozzyB That explains it, because usually there's a couple attempts and a bit of a grappling battle before a takedown, in this fight though, DuPlessis just got the takedown every time with no resistance.

This was like a throwback to the good old days of "striker vs grappler," where both came from completely different combat backgrounds, and neither knew anything about the other's specialty.

DuPlessis is the first guy in the ufc that I can say sucks but is good lol. Idk how to explain it. man fights like a new guy joined a gym but some how gets it done.

The amount of heavy punches Darren Til took throughout the first round. Is the type of sequence that takes years of a man's career. Props to Darren for coming back with his own firepower. I'll never question that man's resolve and heart..Ever!

That take down at the end Wow Darren was tired at .True warriors fought till the end

Dricus Du Plessis is a warrior.

I think that last take down stunned Till bad. That was basically a slam.

If Till puts it together he's still the most dangerous MW in the UFC.

*Till could have won this fight. If he smacked the body with kicks and maintained distance.* Till needs to be more aggressive.

Hard to do that against a gritty grappler like Dricus, especially when Till has such lousy grappling. It's a shame, but he can grapple himself out of a wet paper bag if he's on his back or someone decent has their hands around his legs

DDP is curious, he is slow and awkward but he's a kind of bulldozer, he'll happily eat a shot to land one of his sledge hammer hands and it works for him. I honestly think if he gets the fight with izzy he'll make light work of him

Till is a natural MW; DDP is a massive MW. Till walked around a little north of 200lbs in between camps at WW and had horrible weight cuts. DDP is probably walking around @ 220 or so himself in between camps, like Paulo Costa. I think Till and DDP are both around 6'1 but you can see who's natural for the weight class and who's cutting massive amounts of weight.

Till has never been the same since masvidal starched him

I enjoyed this fight, I didn't get the chance to watch it live. Good fight.

It's rare to have such a one sided fight where both fighters stocks go down..

I haven't seen this fight for a long time. Darren did a lot better than i remembered! And DuPlessis was definitely tired. Nothing to do with noise problems. His whole body was struggling!

To be honest, Dricus fights way better when he's gassed. It's strange, but it makes him more measured, and his strikes become more accurate. Compare that to when the fight first starts; he overextends on every strike and throws everything with intent to kill which leads to him whiffing a lot.

Idk what pharmaceuticals the Chinese, south Africans, and Russians have access to that the rest of the world doesn't yet but I assume it has something to do with drugs targeted to the specific person's genome. Look at Paulo Costa, the dude showed a whole supplement closet, and then "special supplements" made by a chemist in Brazil. He might as well of said "These are steriods USADA can't test for". Costa has also been suspended for using Stomach meds that are banned because they can mask the tests.

DDP can overwhelm Shawn Strickland in the first 2 rounds. However, in the latter rounds Shawn can definitely finish him imo.

Man that fight was carnage. I am probably one of the few that still thinks Till is a bit better than he has shown and DDP winning this with no nose and after gassing hard is impressive. And who can possibly dislike DDP as a fighter? Every fight is bananas.

Till looks like that dude at the gym who barely trains and shows up like once every 2 weeks 💀

Till can take a hit I’ll say that around the 3:02 mark, he’s able to talk to the ref, and take these bombs from DDP to the back of the ear and the side face, while still keeping somewhat of a base, insane.

Till had a great second round hope he figures it out seems to be more of mental thing with him hopefully the ufc doesn’t give up on him

His striking looked really crisp in the second round landed some great counters especially that knee to the body and a couple great step in elbows from range , timing was great just can’t defend a single takedown 😂 a lot of those takedowns in the 2nd were desperation shots on Till and they still almost all landed

Darren's lack of grappling ability lost him this match, it even afforded him the proverbial 10-8 round.

Till's lack of training is what lost him the fight. There were so many times in the second round that a trained and strong Darren Till would have sniped him.

Amazing no one lost this fight both warriors

Till just doesn't throw kicks like he use to. When he first started, that was the one thing people were so scared of, then he'd catch ya with that big left he has...he is just nervous. When being knocked out for the first time, some just never come back and end up being to hesitant. Jose Aldo is a great example. Never the same after Connor.

Well done champ

Till is such a good striker, I hope he comes back healthy after a few years off, you can see how his bad knees really limit his grappling

@@dukenukem7043hat’s exactly why his striking is good. It’s clearly a talent. You’re not wrong, all he has is a left, but he still lands it over and over. He has an incredible sense of timing, distance management and accuracy, with that left. He freezes people with his feints too, but unfortunately that’s not enough. He needed to utilise more kicks and his grappling is non existent

Man this was sad. I love till and as dramatically as he was almost stopped in the first he was closer to finishing the fight in the second.

I think Till is done. He knows it. We know it.

If DuPlessis was in there with a good striker that actually wrestled he would've got worked.

Well he’s facing Whittaker soon so we’ll see soon enough how he fares against a well rounded guy he was getting pieced up by till in this fight so I’d say he’s not going to do well against Whittaker

crazy thing is he didn’t even lose air in the chokehold (obviously from how fast he taped out) dricus squeezed his jaw & chin so tight that he had to tap. Pure strength

I’ve never seen Till win a fight.

A lot of new fans and casuals haven’t yeah.

So many grappling scenarios where you see Till get 40% through the right sequence, and then just stop. Like watching kids with 2 years of wrestling starting to get it, but not quite.

Idk why but I’m a big fan of till . Great sportsmanship 😊

As a proud SA supporter of DP. I got to say, he's going to need a miracle to beat Whittaker. I'm really happy for him but eish, i just don't see it happening man. Maybe if he can somehow become a cardio machine in the interim.

Я просто в шоке с Дарена,не развивается совсем,противник у него тупо качок который еле дышит после 1 раунда,стоит наглухо закрыв голову,что делает Дарен бьет в блок,вместо жесточайших мидл киков,не бьет в переднюю ногу,даже тупо в блок хайкик не выбросил тупо првторял свой наскоки горилы с тычками это жесть,тусуется с Чимаевым хоть по учился бы чему-то стремное выступление,паничиская защита в маунте отдад шею,хотя там тупо передавили больше не удушка

DDP improved immensely in the last 6moths

1st round was a 10-7 round. that was complete, perfect domination.

Watching this just solidifies Strickland’s win as if stirckland’s grappling is as good as people say and he can stop Driscus’ takedowns, he’s gonna rip him apart on the feet
