I've been watching both fighters basically for about 10 years and I rewatched most of their fights, just to be sure. Islam was not big enough of a favorite and that's what I kept telling people. But it's hard to convince anyone, they just kept repeating the same nonsense about the Poirier/Gaethje/Chandler fights, as if Charles looked flawless in any of those wins. And they will do the same with Volkanovski, even though Islam will propably toy with him. Maybe not a finish but I can't see him lose a round to Volk.

These picks podcasts with Dan and Veronica are part of the big PPV fight week now, I hope they keep coming for a long time

There is just so much hype. You got two guys who are on an 11 and 10 fight win streak. Charles is just on an insane tear finishing everyone. Just looking at the last 3 opponents be finished being Chandler, Poirier, and Gaethje is nuts. Islam has been so incredibly dominant against everyone he's fought; his grappling looks unstoppable. Then you have Charles who just pressures forward and is super aggressive, plus his specialty is bjj so you know there's going to be some crazy scrambles and grappling exchanges in this one. I can't wait.

I haver so many questions waiting to be answered, easily the closest match up in a long time. I believe Khabib would win hands down and I believe Islam is not Khabib (that invincible and untouchable air of perfection under any amount of stress or pressure) but Islam has some better attributes, notably stand up, so I am curious if he can do it. My prediction: Olives in R 1-2 by KO or Islam Round 3-4 by Sub or TKO. Pick Overall: Islam - I think he will take his time and that will wear Olives thin, whom I do not believe is much of a threat in rounds 3-5.

so in retrospect after watching the fight...ironically Charles and his corner realized they didn't want to pressure the same way they do everyone else. its very interesting cuz he is always crashing into his opponents. this time he wasn't as reckless and respected Islam's grappling. even in the striking exchanges he couldnt really get the better of islam. with other opponents they looked to stay away from olives and stay in boxing range rather than in clinch or on the floor. in this instance islam was not afraid at all to take it there and in fact flipped it on charles to the point even his corner was telling him to not get too close. and in the end islam was able to get the better of charles even in the striking exchanges with that knockdown that led to the submission.

@@EvertfromNederland it’s hard to be confident or to win a fight when hit with a shot that would have caused the fight to be stopped if it wasn’t a foul. He was done, referees in MMA are just a joke. It wasn’t a hard decision to make imo, immediate disqualification. You just saw him get hit with a fight ending shot, it’s just silly to even wait it out and see if he can continue when if it was a legal strike the fight would have ended with a TKO for Yan. Letting guys get KOd or nearly KOd, then recover and continue is why guys die in boxing every year.

@@sparks1792 super corny. Aljo has past fights that show his heart and theres rules for a reason. TJ can say his shoulder been popping out for months all he wants but I'm not buying it. Aljo is and was always exhausting.

I'm not a big fan of public displays of affection, but I love mma and like these two so I let it slide. It's an odd combo of listening to two intelligent, likeable people speak about something they know, while having their first date over and over again.. Interesting format :)

Veronica is so hot...she knows so much about mma...so hot

Talking about hyperextension in joints and ruined bones I dislocate both knees daily and have messed up shoulders and small triangular shaped knee caps and there blood stained red at the back through all dislocations and hyperextension watching mma makes me feel more normal lol to anyone feeling like life is hard do it as long as you can and then some more your mind goes on long after your body
