You can tell that Demetrius doesn't place his value or identity on wins or loses. This is just a job. A job that he loves and would have no problems hanging it up when it's time.

that's because he didn't get hit much, he should have won 3-2 probably but everyone knows judges are terrible with mma so a decision win when the fight is close typically doesn't mean much. sucks that his streak ended with controversy though since most thought he won.

Didn’t think he lost that fight, but I have no doubt that he’ll get his belt back. Crazy to think that both him and Henry put on that kind of fight will all the injuries that happened in the middle of it all.

All these comments, nothing but love for this man. Close fight but I give it to DJ. Im kinda glad he can take a break now, spend some time with his family and focus on the new one on its way. Being at the top for that long is taxing. Plus watch how the fans will pine for him after watching the rest of the division scamble around for a while. I think this is a blessing in disguise for the man!
A true champion in defeat why can't the others be this mature.

Can someone name another UFC champion who lost their belt to a razor close split decision? Every championship fight that I can think of that was even remotely close has gone to the champ. While I agree the fight was close I don't agree that this is normal scoring for MMA. We've seen loads of fights where the challenger clearly won 3-2 and the decision goes to the champ. I haven't generally agreed with this scoring but at least it was consistent. They really need to change the whole system to one that rewards the fighter who does the most damage and threatens the most finishes. This would make the fights more exciting and actually reflect a real fight. But I'm rambling now...

@yodaonthedrums

LDNXBARS DJ is an absolute legend for sure, I can’t say this was a robbery though, in real time I scored it a draw, super close fight which could have gone either way, and it seems one could make an argument for any scorecard other that a 50-45 in either direction really.. I’m generally pretty critical of judging but it this case it seems it’s the judging criteria which is the problem, it leaves so much open for subjective interpretation that you can come up with different outcomes and none of them are “wrong” which at the end of the day is certainly a problem. But that’s a separate discussion for another time, either way great fight and I don’t see how they don’t run it back. DJ still the 🐐 though. 👊

DJ is probably looking forward to being a challenger for once. Gotta love the guy. Impressive about the injury, didn't notice at all on his movement. But it must've had an effect on his td defense.

@navjitbassi03
5 жыл бұрын
Chris Tre the only two that have been the most dominant/popular in the women's division. If you were to forget gender and just pick the worst losers them 2 would be at the top of most lists. The funny thing is women's mma is new so there haven't been many top fights compared to men and they still top my list of worst losers. Hard to ignore gender there, even if I tried.
@navjitbassi03
5 жыл бұрын
Chris Tre don't be butt hurt my friend I'm not insulting you lol. You want me to compare everyone reaction to a loss when only a few experience the pressures of mma at the top level like Ronda and joana. How many women have been as dominant as them in the ufc and lost? Don't know why you getting so defensive. Demetrious, Anderson, gsp, chuck liddell have all been at the top and taken defeat well. Tito, Ronda and Joana are the few that come to mind who can't take it. Where is the bias?? So far every dominant women champ in the ufc has been a sore loser.
Man I thought DJ was cocky af cuz he was undefeated so long. It is refreshing to see him lose (like Cyborg) but he is definitely very humble here, I like it. Very smart guy tbh.
Rewatched it again. Extraordinarily close fight. It took the greatest combat athlete of all time to push him to a razor thin, coin toss decision and it took going to a different company fighting at the next weight bracket with different rules for him to suffer his first knockout. No wonder this man is THE GOAT.
Watching this reminds me of how this division was made for Joe B. And he was hyped up like crazy. Then the crazy Ian Mcall fight and rematch. Then boom mighty mouse defends the title 80 times.
True champion

💯 class
So stupid that takedowns and top position is worth so much in judges eyes specially when there nothing being done from the top. In my eyes dj won that fight look at cejudo face and dj face
Still the GOAT in my book.
Wowza DJ is such a class act looks like he did before coming into the fight. I still feel he had that fight all the states when you look at him were in his favor as well. Besides takedowns which DJ even said he didnt get anything significant off on him. Crazy you don't get anything for stuffing there takedown or his gameplan with all the kicks. Sounds like DJ did more damage to himself then Henry did to him.
DJ=Opposite of Rhonda Rousy ....All Class 👌🏻
DJ is so good it looks like he barely cares about MMA and yet he dominates his whole division for 7 years. Crazy.
What a class act
the king of subtlety. amazed at this result though, the guy has just put up a wall between himself and the rest of the division, didnt know if I would live to see the day he was beat. great job by Cejudo.
Such a great champion and person most importantly. He'll be back.
💯Respect For DJ
He lost but atleast he enjoy n thankful to do what he loves. Amazing performance he champion since 2012 good run
Cejudo got his ass beat and was handed the belt. Really wish DJ wasn't so humble and would say so himself.
TRUE champion ..👏 this was highway robbery.. rest in peace UFC..
Imagine being champ and defending the title 11 times, and then losing by an "iffy" split decision
I’m happy for DJ kicking ass at ONE Championships but damn he was warranted a rematch.
Great fighter I'm sure he'll be back.
I had it at 2-2 and that 5th round could have a been a draw tbh but once Henry got that takedown I can see how it went to him. It makes sense. I do agree that a more specific judging system needs to be implemented. Great match over all though and I’m sure there will be a part 3.
Is was a coin flip of a fight for sure. I personally gave it to DJ cause Henry didn’t do much besides holding position.
Does anyone know his twitch name
True champ
Crazy this is the last time we would see him in the ufc
