Unfortunately, for the first few years of Zuffa's UFC, there wasn't much money that could go to fighters. In fact, the Ferritas had to pump in $40 Million to keep the company afloat. After TUF 1, UFC saw their fortunes turn around, however, they still had to pay back future profits that should have gone to fighters to service their debt.

For a President of a company to come out and be little his fighters is crazy... look at Silva he's pass his prime and definite brain damage... He' a fighter fighters need to be told when to stop fighting for there own good and Dana White exploits that.

Louis Comolli I do agree with your point, but doesn't some of the responsibillity of telling a fighter when to stop lie in the hands of a fighter's trainer, doctor, staff, team, loved ones, etc? I mean, it's no secret anymore about the risks of fighting and the risks associated with taking shots to the head over the course of many years, so some of the responsabillity is in the hands of the fighter himself/herself. Common Knowledge: get in young, make and save your money, and get out before the age of 40. Use that money to live a comfortable life and open a gym.

  • @louc7174

I agree with with the fighter bares some responsibility.... His people around him share the most. If a fighter nows that he done but a promoter offers big money to get back in the ring it tough for him to say no even if it's not in his best interest... Dana White talks like he's a fighter and he's not have some respect for the fighters that made you a ton of money...

5:50 If you think about it, it’s kinda sad. Tito used to be pretty well spoken and thought out and after all the years of damage he’s showing signs of early cte with the way he talks and slurs his words. If he was compensated the right way maybe he wouldn’t have been fighting for so long, which caused his possible cte. He was telling his future and no one listened.

If you are just a spectator in life who sits on his couch and really doesn't respect the fighters I guess I could understand your point. UFC fighters get paid peanuts. on a Boxing promotion - boxers get paid 70 percent of the revenue- of course then they have to pay their managers and trainers and so on- but they are in the drivers seat- if a ppv makes 1.5 million views- the headline fighters, they ll bring home 5 million each. On a UFC card- which they have every month at the least- the fighters make about 400,000 each on average. the undercard guys make like 50,000. and they still have to pay their trainers, marketing, sparring partners, etc- they even have to pay back the UFC their advances which they get before training camp which pays for transport and hotels, food, etc- so the UFC pays them and then gets paid back- taking a cut. nobody , nobody knows the numbers- but its fair to say that the UFC has created a system where they have created a huge middle class of wages- but boxing is all upper class or lower class. in boxing ur making 50 million or nothing, but have huge leverage, and in UFC everyone gets something, but not much. personally i think the problem with that is- that the top guys don't get paid what their true value is. especially with the reebok deal- in any other sport, the 10th best known fighter- say a Diaz, or a dos santos would have endorsements, and be making 8 figures a year, easy. in the UFC they're making about half a million a fight. not much for what they're bringing in. the biggest joke is TUF- that show makes a killing, that show makes like millions upon millions a season, and in backend repeats and so on- and the winner , and only the winner gets a six figure contract? its a joke, while all the other contestants basically sacrifice their lives to make nothing. thats the biggest problem with a monopoly- the UFC can always say u don't like it - go away- and Dana will always ring his old line of - how bad do u want it- how much do u want the glory, to be a fighter- to be a superstar- its exploitation. its code for- we re gonna underpay everyone- and let these guys kill each other till theres one left and pay that guy a shit load. I like Dana, he s a brilliant businessman, and shrewd guy- and he's made a great product- but compared to the NBA, NFL and NHL- their guys don't get treated very well at all. its possible for adidas to sponsor the NBA but also have deals with shoe companies- everyone knows that endorsements are 80 percent of an athletes income- to take that away sucks. these guys aren't all stars- for most of them - its get in- fight for 10 years- try and get a headline show- or a title shot- make as much money as u can- and get out. so their window to make money is very limited and short- and hard- so they should have as much opportunity to maximise it- and not be leveraged into having to take bad deals. the only two fighters that have leverage are ronda and mcgregor- they've become bigger than the show- but the game needs a union or a representative union to bind them together like the players association in all the other major sports. otherwise UFC will go down the same shit road that boxing did- where its basically a mob game - ruled by a few greedy pigs.

Everyone has there opinion on the subject of Tito Ortiz, but if u really listen to what he is saying his one of the few guys who stands up to Dana White and the UFC system. He has legitimate points; he states that when he asks for more money the fighters get mad at him and call him an idiot. At the end of the day he is one of the few fighters who does not let Dan manipulate him with the "I am make u a star" spiel as he stated. He knows the a lot of other fighters are "slaves" as he quoted to Dana because they are brainwashed into believing his lies. At the end of the day if you listen to Dana u will fight until u can't no more and then the company will get rid of you like garbage and u end up broke; ask Jason "Mayhem" Miller.

As much as Tito is annoying, the sport needed him at the time, and it may not have grown like it is today without him. Tito acts like a douche sometimes, but hes fought for his spot. If Dana didnt want him to be heard from again, look at Frank Shamrock, he was one of the UFC's greatest middleweights, and they dont even talk about him, or show any kind of respect for him. Its Dana's show and alot of you new fans just go with it. Learn your history and respect the vets who started this whole thing.

And it's all his doing. Dana is not a dumb guy but he's moronic about the way that he befriends fighters, hangs out with them outside of work, and then they just can't believe it when he has to make a corporate decision about their employment instead of "hooking up a brother". I have no doubt the most common thing said by these guys about Dana is, "You think you know a guy and then he goes and pulls this shit." I don't know why Dana is always falling into this trap. I get not wanting to hang out with a bunch of suits, he'd never fit in with them and that's a good thing, but it seems like he could find somebody other than his working-level employees to hang out with. This kind of shit is bad for business and it just looks fucked-up, like he can't handle his business.
