Hello, everyone, and welcome to another Unreal Engine tutorial. In this video, we will dive into the Landscape system in Unreal Engine. Our journey begins with scene setup and the creation of our very first landscape. Along the way, we'll explore the essential technical aspects to consider when working on your initial landscape in UE5, shedding light on the Landscape system and the editor.
To kick things off, we'll clarify the distinction between components and sections. We'll delve into the intricacies of height maps and identify which type of map is considered "suitable." Epic Games' recommended landscape sizes will be shared to aid your future projects. Moving forward, we'll learn how to apply landscape materials using predefined sets and create attributes through the material graph, all while being mindful of crucial considerations before applying these materials.
In the final part, I'll demonstrate a time-saving technique - importing an external height map from software packages like World Machine. As always, timestamps are available for each section of this video. We have a lot of ground to cover, so let's dive right in.

If this is required at work, HOPEFULLY the studio should provide it for you and the team. However if you wish to practice for personal use you can DL some free ones from: www.motionforgepictures.com/environment-height-maps-free-download/

Coming very soon Both in Niagara and via the Material Graph
Hi! Very, very good video and very well explained! I want to use materials from Quixel to paint on Landscape. How do I make that these materials show up in the Paint-tab under Target Layers, Layers as it does for you. Do I still have to go through the steps and create a Landscape Material with textures from these Quixel Materials? And what about the Blending Materials function on Quixel which blends materials for you, which its used for painting over meshes. Can this Blanded Material be used on Landscape? Thank you!

Hi The process is slightly different. I am working on a blending materials tutorial. Stay tuned
Now if you could do a tut on 100 X 100 KM Landscape that would be great , I have been looking for a informative tut that would help me out but every one semes to leave out the most important information , how to find settings etc. Example 1 tut edits landscape in project settings , I don't have that setting to modify , so there TUT is useless , I have been trying to get help since UE5 Came out everyone skips the most important information .
PS ,The best tutorial series I have found in years .

Switch back to edit mode. Select your landscape from the world outliner and press F on your keyboard
After a while inside my project I can no longer paint on layers. I can't even sculpt. My computer is plenty beefy, something I'm missing?
@sarkamari

How odd. It shouldn't be the computer spec. Make sure you're NOT in Select mode. You can Sculp in the Landscape mode only
displacement?
