    You're a godsend, my dude! Thank you for publishing this tutorial and explaining the scan process especially! Your metahuman looks alot like your reference photo and has been the most realistic one I've seen so far.

    I have made a metahuman with only one image. It took years to complete. From the one image I created a 3D model about 1.2 yrs ago. Then to my surprise metahuman creator came along. I was able to import that 3D model and BOOM! What a journey that was.

    Yes you can achieve good results with a low number of images, of course it's going to be more difficult and requires more polishing but it's not impossible. The video was made with the intention of showing a repeatable workflow that could be applied in different situations.

    Thanks for this great video. A few questions you may be able to help with? The processing and model creation were done on a desktop - the title says UE5 for Android and iOS. Can this metahuman model (after creation and processing) be exported to a smartphone and if so, is the object type specific to UE5 only, can it be displayed on other Android/iOS platforms? Have you experimented with the body type mesh (I notice you picked some preset standard types offered by UE5) to get a true head-to-toe accurate metahuman?

    Hey, thank you ;) About your questions, the first part of the title ( [UE5 - Android/iOS] ) indicates which platforms/softwares are used in the tutorial. If you check my other videos they always have something like UE5, UE5 Niagara, etc... in square brackets. For what concerns the model, yes, you can export it as an FBX and import it to Maya, Blender, etc... It's not a one click solution though. Once exported, I guess you could use a fbx reader on a smartphone too, but probably you should go with higher LODS than 0 or 1

    Just curious we’re you not confident with the outcome in metahuman creator because I didn’t see a side by side comparison photo/3D model.

    Actually I wanted to add a little final comparison of my real me vs the digital one, but unfortunately I just forgot about it when editing the video! Then I made the thumbnail that way so that at least there you could see the comparison, the final model came out really well :D

    I absolutely cannot get Polycam to produce a good model. I have used DSLR photos, Ive tried it with iPhone 14 Pro camera. Then tried a LiDAR scan with the polycam app on the phone itself. It always comes out all fucked up.

    I feel your pain! As I've stated at the beginning of the video, doing reconstructions is really a process of trial (frustration) and error. In my case, I had a hard time using Reality Capture, I wanted to use it to make this video but despite different tries I didn't manage to get a good reconstruction. For what concerns Polycam, try to reconstruct a simple object first, so you can understand how pics should be made, that's how I achieved the results you see in the video.

    Hey, try to update Unreal Engine if you are not using 5.4 and is possible for your project. Otherwise try doing this: In Project Settings go to Platforms -> Windows Set "DirectX 12" as a Default RHI. In Engine -> Rendering -> Hardware Ray Tracing Check Support Hardware Ray Tracing In Engine -> Rendering -> Optimizations Support Compute Skin Cache should be automatically checked Restart Engine and retry.

    When i try to zoom to see the tracker lines, it online makes the tracker lines smaller or bigger Any ideas?

  • @gonoshift

    @gonoshift

    I guess its because the frame has been created (as you see in 08:25), anyway there is no need to have the green markers overlap in a pixel perfect manner with the image below them. The zoom should be used just to center the frame, then you lock it and track it ;)

    Would be a helpful video if you didn't assume everyone knew Blender. Using shortcuts so we can't see what you're clicking doesn't help.

    Heya David, thank you for your suggestion, hotkey display could be a good addition to future videos! Anyway, in the Blender part, the only hotkey used was the "tab" key to switch between Object Mode and Edit Mode, all other operations are in the voice over. The sculpting part was a timelapse to avoid making the video unnecessary long, and unfortunately if you have a model with a beard (like mine), sculpting is the only way to take it off, so in that case a a little of understanding of how the sculpting in Blender works is needed, but explaining that was outside the scope of this video!
