Man, what a FANTASTIC interview this was. Geno gave these guys 15 minutes and he was so relaxed. What a brilliant guy he is. I could listen to him talk and joke around all day long. To think a Danny has guys like Geno, Jim, his father and Bobby, Coach K, as daily resources… he can just walk over to Geno’s office any day if he needs someone to bounce something off of. Why would he ever wanna go anyplace else to coach? Auriemma is wildly charismatic and fascinating to listen to.

What I love about Geno interviews, is he never gives patented answer. He actually thinks about what he says and give unique insights. Also doesn't hold back if he has something negative to say. There must be something about UCONN's athletic management that they can bring in and keep winning coaches over a long period of time.

Dude… You’re trying to criticize a guy with more championships and records than any coach in basketball history. That’s, like, REALLY hard to do. I guess that’s why the bulk of your argument is to create a hypothetical scenario that’ll never happen and then forecast how badly he’d do. Plus, world class athletes often want to be challenged by a strict coach…. A especially if he’s a proven winner.

@@CLJ112 I have to disagree with you CLJ. Dean Smith won two ‘ships in his career… and, by the way, he did so with half the blue chip recruits dueling to play for the Tar Heels. Geno came to a risky dink school that nobody even appreciated and built a program that turned into a serious dynasty. Some of your argument is rooted in sexism &, believe me, I’m no social justice warrior so I’m not going down that road. I also much prefer watching the men’s game (although I can respect how much the women’s game has improved and grown). But Geno still had to come out on-top of 351 D1 teams every year and the guy won 11 titles.

@@deezboyz4157 so UConn didn't corner the market on blue chippers🤔, UConn got Lobo, bird, Moore, Stewart, cash, DT, etc. Geno was getting the best because they wanted to go to UConn. Also what about the always playing on home court in the NCAA tournament 🤔 men don't have that.

@@CLJ112 Well, look, you and I may be closer to feeling the same about things as you may think. I’m a huge UConn Men’s fan. I was a die hard before the Chris Smith team… back when Cliff Robinson led the team (God rest his soul). But I also have big respect for Auriemma… and more-so because of his personality and intelligence. He’s a fascinating dude. Sure, he can be an abrasive prick like Calhoun was, but I just find him to be so sharp and quick-witted. I dunno, I just like the guy and admire him. I have immense respect for anyone that takes a mediocre program and turns it into a world-beater. There are hundreds of coaches trying with all their might to do the very same thing, yet one guy continues and continues to do it better than anyone else. You mention Lobo, Bird, Stewart…. I think you may not have understood my point. Every kid on earth wants to play for UConn now… But my point was that this was never the case until Geno rebuilt the whole thing. in the mid 80’s, there were no serious blue chippers drooling to play for the Huskies. It was Geno who changed all that and started the inevitable snowball effect where the blue chippers start rolling-in every year cuz they wanna play in Storrs (and I am so fired-up to see what kind of recruits start committing to play for Danny, cuz the guy is so damn cool and like-able… I very much believe some of the top players in America are going to have UConn on their short list going forward). Also, I agree 100% with you about UConn getting home games in the tourney. To me, that’s the almighty dollar motivating the NCAA. Cuz UConn women draw a lot more fans than other states. I graduated from UT- Knoxville when Summit was the coach…. I don’t recall Thompson-Bolling being sold out for games. People loved their Lady Vols, but it wasn’t on the same level as Connecticut’s fan base. It’s all good though buddy…. And, hey, enjoy the great parade later on today!
