UCLA Recruiting is on FIRE! Are the Bruins a Big Ten team ON THE RISE?

Спорт

The UCLA Bruins football program has invested B1G into recruiting early in the DeShaun Foster era and it has been paying off with some big time commitments to Los Angeles. Are the Bruins putting in an effort that will get them more Big Ten victories? Will Decker from ‪@UCLALAFB‬ joins to discuss!

UCLA has NEVER had a recruiting problem, Chip TRASH Kelly was the problem UCLA had. Chip TRASH Kelly is the only coach in UCLA history to have a recruiting and attendance problem…

Very refreshing to see good recruiting news out of UCLA. For like the past 9 years its been all downhill. Thank god we finally got rid of chip, set us back years. I think Deshaun CARES enough to get us out of it. At the end of the day, UCLA is in Los Angeles, surrounded by resources and good weather. Shit Bel-Air is up the fucking street, and Beverly Hills is the opposite direction. There should be no reason that UCLA isn't a powerhouse of some sort, or AT LEAST the level of Penn State. Obviously, this will take some time but Foster has us headed in the right direction. I also want to say thank you Ted, for covering this, most Big 10 channels wouldn't touch us with a 10 foot pole, and even when they do mention us its the usual "they suck, its UCLA.". Can't wait for Foster to change that narrative. Thanks for the coverage, and as always, 4s up.

UCLA IS a sleeping giant. We just saw Mick Cronin go to the bank this offseason in the transfer portal. UCLA has the resources, its just never used it. I think with the departure of Chancellor Gene Block, this can become better. Hopefully, they get someone who actually gives half of a shit about sports in that office. At the end of the day, in January, I thought we were headed for CAL/Stanford ivy league type status, schools who don't care. But I think Foster is going to pull us out of that abyss.

I like the pieces that UCLA has on offense this season. I have some questions on O Line, retaining Jay Toia on D Line was huge. There will certainly be some adjustments, but I really like the people Foster has surrounded himself with. UCLA has all the resources to attract some good talent, having an emphasis on recruiting will give them long term hope in the Big Ten. I hope we see the Rose Bowl full up with more Bruin fans this year!

Excited to see the new teams in B1G. Hopefully the new conference will stop the flow of California players to the SEC. But the alumni needs to step up with some major NIL if they are serious about competing.

They need to adapt the nfl format and put the teams in their respective regionals. 6 Divisions. The conferences are obsolete now.

I think Dick Vermiel was the last UCLA head coach to leave UCLA for another head coaching job that was like 40 years ago why would anyone think UCLA is a stepping stone job who makes up these rumors ??? Oregon lose every head coach they have and they become TRASH when they leave Oregon that’s what you call a stepping stone job NO COACH in their right mind will leave UCLA , LA, the number 1 tv market, the top recruiting ground, the number 1 public school in the nation with a top 5 richest alumni on the FBS level you can’t even find nobody that has more going for them than UCLA where would you go ??? Only a 🤡🤡🤡 will leave LA for another school that’s not a Blue Blood in football… With the right coach and right administrators UCLA can dominate College Football…

Younger Xenniels don't know: '80s Ucla fb, under Donahue, was pretty strong. In '85 FiestaBowl, a Bruins team w/better talent at LOS, outplayed JimmyJohnson-led Mia. Calif hs fb vs arrogant S FL stars from "The crib". If u watch KZread highlights, u see Ucla outplayed Miami. Yeah, '84 Ucla was crushed by a gr8 Neb team, but finished #9 in final AP poll.

The only coach to leave UCLA for another college job was some guy who left for his alma mater. You’re right UCLA is not a stepping stone job. In all fairness though, UCLA has had some pretty lousy coaching hires over the past 20 years. Coaches go to UCLA for their career to die. At least of late.

First time seeing this channel. Great content! And I agree with you, UCLA is a sleeping giant. There’s no reason UCLA can’t be a USC or an Oregon in the sense of an elite football program. It just needs for all the right pieces to come together. I am definitely subscribing to your channel. Thanks!

There's a lot going for them. Just playing in the Rose Bowl is a big selling point for me. The B1G factor will be if their administration gets behind them and invests into football and that they are in the Big Ten. A lot of people have crapped on Foster, but I like his staff, his enthusiasm and his willingness to recruit. Personally, I LOVE UCLA's color scheme and uniforms, extremely underrated.

110% agree with you. Hopefully, our next chancellor is more supportive of our athletic programs, with football and basketball being the primary focus. With that said, the things pointed out here are just the surface of what UCLA has to offer. there’s plenty of more that UCLA has to offer.

I tried to tell people upon Chips hire that we were just a retirement scheme. He didn't seem to have the passion to coach. Fast forward and looky here. I have been waiting for the day he was gone. Foster is one of the best coaches around. Plus we have the most underrated coach in all of college football in EB!!! Player of the year, national champion, coached the best QB in the NFL, won super bowls. Come on let's go!!! #4'sUp

1/2: Idk how '24 Ucla hcFoster will do, x's & o's-wise, but, per BruinBiblePod', there's an under-the-nat'l-cfb-radar story re '25 b1g cfb brewing (intended) at Westwood. Some b1g fans, whom I recently interacted with, dismissed my positive input re the current trajectory of Ucla fb. For proof, I cited how the Bruins have ex-NFL OC, Bieniemy. There is also ex-Ucla RBs coach (and current hc, Foster), who, like Bieniemy, was an NFL standout and a great cfb player. And lastly, the former OL coach from the NFL Eagles (Castillo). All 3 coaches I highlighted have already recruited difference-making players in the last month. The most recent example? Nati'l-level RB recruit, Cox, a big power RB w/quicks (and maybe better footwork than legendary Wisky RB Ron Dayne?). RB Cox: a very, very 'Poor man's' Ron Dayne? Imo Ucla will recruit for '25 better than the neg. nat'l perception swirling aroumd Ucla fb rn. '24 Ucla cfb is expected to struggle, on-field, for sure. However, the actual talent on Ucla's roster may not be accurately reflected by what will probably be a poor, 2024 win-loss record. '24 Ucla fb has 8-10 talented players to build around, w/more on the way for '25....

I am not even sure of that anymore. His play calling at times was ridiculous. Even with 5th year DTR who single handily saved his butt with his clutch plays there were times I was just left thinking WTF. There were so many 3rd and 4th down runs straight ahead into the line for nothing that it was really frustrating. I am sure Chip has a leash at OSU so you won't see that now but he used UCLA as some kind of football research lab.

Chip Kelly has the worst recruiting rankings of any coach in UCLA history since recruiting rankings started. He plain didn't care about his job. Should have never been hired. He didn't promote his players for national awards, horrible with the media. His past got him paid. Now he can be locked in an office at Ohio St. I hope they lose every game.
