BuenMarkviaje redhshirting means that a player can extend their playing year by a year or even two. However when redshirted, you cannot play in any of the team's game, whether a conference game or invitational. But you are still part of the team and must attend regular team practice. The advantage of this, if you might, is that you can focus on developing more on your skills or on your physical strengths without having any pressure. The disadvantage of course is you gain no court experience. I remember a player from BYU, he redshirted in '09 for two years and then started his playing year in '11.
