Ubisoft wasn't wrong to put off certain settings for so many years. They wanted to stand out and give players locales and cultures that weren't generally seen in games; and titles with ninja, desert, and World War settings were fairly common even back then. Only after the brand has built itself up as something all its own does it become truly interesting to see how Creed might put its own spin on frequently explored settings, without being swallowed up by other titles doing similar things

True, but given that Japans is already a setting for multiple very good games... I think it's a shame and a waste. What I loved about Assassin's Creed's settings (especially Origins and now Mirage), is precisely that they are set in cultures that haven't already been used ad nauseam in mainstream games, and on top of that, they include a lot of historical and cultural research to bring these places to life. Feudal Japan is already an extremely popular setting. I would like to see other underrepresented settings... maybe something in South/Meso America (Maya culture?), or maybe India or SE Asia... or Africa. TBH I was very disappointed when they came out with Valhalla. Vikings are ubiquitous in mainstream media, though having it set in England made it a little more compelling.

Honestly I prefer to have a male Japanese antagonist as we’ve had 2 canon females for the past 2 games

Yeah absolutely its not sounding as great as I feel it should be... not yet. I hope we get more news or updates on Red soon... I think it could be really great if done right! Mirage made me feel like an assassin again @@101derpness

Origins had only 1 protagonist - Bayek, it was Odyssey that had either Kassandra (the real protagonist) or Alexois (wasn't ment to be, but could be picked)

You are going off old out dated info the shinobi is female and the african refugee is the samurai.

This sounds good. But honestly yasuke shouldve been a side character that you work with. Rather than a knock off the playable charcater.

Honestly I know they’ll slap that big RPG into the game although if they really studied the history of the Shinobi, time period, and most importantly the agricultural theme, then they may pull it off. The only major issue I hope this game won’t have is a leveling system like AC Origins and AC Odyssey with it limiting you in many ways. Having a system like a mixture of like AC Unity and Valhalla would work. Also customizable gear has to be really good because it’s Japanese themed and who wouldn’t want their shinobi to look badass or hell even look like a samurai, tho it could be like Unity’s customization which it was the best of the whole game series. Seeing if Ubisoft uses Unity’s customization it most likely would be the best way since it gives the player a huge possibility to create their own shinobi maybe with some newly added customization. Overall I hope this game lives up to expectations because of it’s selected time, tho don’t be having too many hopes for the game since Ubisoft hasn’t had a good track record with AC for handful of years.

2:40 not true. They've said "the Origins formula" not RPGs! Somebody from Ubi stated, after that statement, that the RPGs will continue, even after AC Red!

@@yourcreaturegamer6730 the combat in the rpgs is my biggest issue it used to be so smooth and realistically animated. it was over fast and your character only went for killing blows and didnt mess around hitting them for 5 minutes wth enemies somehow still be alive when they realistically should be dead. not that old ac combat was super realistic but it was alot more grounded in reality. ac used to have such a unique and beautful combat system and now its just gone traded to comform and lose all its personallity and what made it great to be a dollar store witcher 3. they need to bring back the counter and animation based combat system it was one of a kind. and the assissination animations have only gotten worse it peaked in Unity they were so slick and felt good and there was alt of them never getting boring. that type of shit is what MADE ac

I think a good balance between RPG and original works. Give us great parkour and fluid combat like in Unity (minus the bugs and jankiness of Unity’s combat). But give us plenty of outfits, customisation, weapons with different stats and builds. Ninja, Samurai, Hunter, etc. It just needs to be balanced. Interlay RPG elements without jeopardising the things that actually made assassin’s creed… Well… Assassins Creed. Just my take Edit: My only concern for parkour in Red is that the buildings and architecture of feudal Japan wouldn’t be as good for free running as those of previous titles. But I’m not an expert.

Is Unity's combat and flow better than Syndicate? After playing Odyssey and Origins I'm generally frustrated with Syndicate and if Unity is the same I'm just going to give up trying out older AC games. Maybe I'm more of a fan of RPG formats.

@@timotmon Oh I would say Unity’s was far better. I mean, it can be quite janky at times but generally I’d say it was much smoother. Syndicate felt so fast, but not in a good way, in a sort of ‘this doesn’t look real’ kind of way. Unity is much more fluid - But yeah, still janky here and there (not so much where it put me off the game though, and maybe updates have fixed it by now). Great game though regardless, way better than Syndicate

I wish some promotional marketing like making a manga and then adapted into anime simillar to Cyberpunk. I really want AC red to be successful like Black Flag. Hope it can better/ simillar to Origins as RPG rather than Odyssey amd Valhalla.

Also why haven't we seen any AC game that explores kingdoms with large castles to explore? Think of the massive playground Ubisoft could create using castles and Knights Templar. That would be pretty awesome if they gave us another game that dives into the Templar side of things!

When it comes to RPGs I like when they follow the lore. So if the Samurai and Ninja are Assassins that’s great. I don’t like where the franchise is heading for abandoning Assassins in Assassin’s Creed. We already got Samurai and Ninja games so it better not be like Valhalla that only shows the setting but no Assassins.

wait wait, they are finally making a ninja game in assassins creed universe, and they decided to make a female samurai and an African ninja as protagonists?! LOL! or at least they are honest about this. In Odyssey and Valhalla they went with a male protagonist in commercials to boost up the sales and a female Schwarzenegger versions ended up being the canon.

I stand corrected. From the teaser, it's obvious that the Ninja character will be the female one. The African refugee will probably be the samurai character. But again... are they aware that the target audience are men? And in this case, men in Japan? Who would like to go through their games as male ninjas or samurai? Imagine a female god of war. Or a female Solid Snake. Or a female Sam Fisher? Actually, I can see that happening in some near future.

Why go away from RPG?

An Odyssey in Japan will be a dream come true. Although Yasuke was not the right choice. Every AC had setting appropriate protagonists. We need a Japanese male protagonist. I strongly hope Red isn't the last RPG. Odyssey and Valhalla are easily the best games in history. Ghost of Tsushima is the only game that comes close. getting rid of RPG will ruin the series. hilarious that we are actually are more excited about Red than Mirage. took me 40 hrs to do everything in Mirage. Way too short to be a stand alone.
