I’m curious to see if anyone agrees with me but to this day AC3 has the smoothest combat especially with the mini “cinematics” you get whenever you dodge two enemies at once for example. I loved the combat really made me feel like a master assassin.

I agree ac3 combat is insanely good but sometimes there is a bug when the camera angle is still in combat mode even if you already become incognito... plus sometimes the enemy can cheat and hit you, this happens because there is no red thing above their head when countering and even if you trying to counter them it won't work

@@ManOfPillowDoom people tend to forget that the real story, whether you like it or not, is the isu side, with the animus and the pieces of eden and modern times. The game you play is how to progress that story and complete it. AC Odyssee was at the base of the whole story of that side. I guess the name of the franchise is not optimal because it fitted very well with the older games (real assassin's) and not with Odysee because he was demi-god/warrior. Valhalla is one of my favorites. Same for odyssey. I’ve played every game. Multiple times. Played them all in order. The old games have their place. They are iconic and beautiful in there own right. But dual wielding to mythical spears belonging to 2 separate gods of their religions and stomping every enemy in my way is a level of joy I’ve only found in Valhalla. And I’m a big fan of all the content. As a call of duty fan as well, when most triple A games skimp out. It was refreshing to have so much to do in the base game. And then the expansions just enhanced that feeling.

I love how big valhalla is. I don't have money to buy all the games I ever want, so the fact that between Odyssey and my 220 hours of enjoyment and Valhalla having over 100 hours so far, I will not complain about the overall direction of the title, especially with how fun stealth is. That being said, Egyptian and Greek myth have been some of my favourite since childhood and Norse myth my favourite in my adult life, so the last three titles have been absolutely fantastic. With Mirage coming, I look forward to the series returning to its thematic roots. There are so many puzzles that you can challenge yourself on if you want to or just hulk smash them to get through. Favourite series. Also, something to say for Valhalla, while the overall story is long, the story is broken up to short stories that develop the history of the character. It's really great.

Hot take: Arno's initiation into the assassins was better than Ezio's. Don't get me wrong, I love Ezio but Arno having the hallucinations, seeing the paintings and the things he felt guilty about, having to let go and kill that part of himself to be reborn into the brotherhood, it felt like it had a lot more weight and gravitas to it.

To be fair, by the time Ezio was officially inducted into the Assassin Brotherhood, he'd already killed most of the targets on his list and met all the other major members of the Brotherhood at the time. Unity's introduction is the absolute best in the whole series. Even better than ACII and ACIII. You have the witty, cocky, larger-than-life protagonist; you have the rich girl who doesn't really care for her social status (Dresses? UGH, amirite?); you have the mystery around De La Serre's death; you have a candid, nonchalant mentor figure who roasts the protagonist the first time he sees him; you have the action packed set piece escaping the Bastille and an epic (and earned) title drop; you have an Assassin initiation with an actual Assassin Brotherhood that takes the process seriously. And to that you add that the rich girl is a templar, the protagonist an Assassin; the French Revolution as a backdrop. It's not groundbreaking or even original, but it's such a good formula, and it's executed perfectly. Perfect pace, believable dialogue, fun characters. It's such a shame that right after Arno joins the Assassin's all of that goes to hell. Arno loses all his personality and both Elise and Bellec basically disappear and do fuck all until the story starts to wrap up. Unity's story as a whole is pretty bad but the introduction is just top notch.

Origins and Odyssey are my favorites. I've spent 1,000+ hours with Odyssey and have yet to complete every single task. I got my money's worth and more and it gave me a renewed interest in ancient Greece that is still not sated. A couple of plot wrinkles in the DLCs along with impossible boss fights may be my only complaint, but on the whole, it is massive, full of intrigue, sad plot twists, and you get to rub elbows with Sokrates, who, in a few scenes, almost managed to steal the show. It does take liberty with history, and we knew to expect that, but a game -- a single game -- with characters like Sokrates, Perikles, Herodotus, Aristophanes, Pythagoras and Leonidas I, that's a gamer's dream and that's not even mentioning the Sphinx, Cyclops, Medusa, or the incredible labyrinth under the ruins of Knossos and the minotaur waiting at the end. The map goes from Kephallonia to Macedonia and to Lesbos, Samos and Thera. No Mt Olympus, but after a while, I forgot about it. If you haven't played it, reconsider. You'll be surprised at the story and the truly amazing work done on the Aegean sea, its dynamics and the ship's reaction to the waves of big water. A masterpiece.

It's really hard to choose the best thing for the 2nd game. The story, the characters, the music, the atmosphere. I remember just stopping for a moment on a random rooftop at night while "Home in Florence" played in the background. I switched to Eagle Vision and looked up to the sky and saw how quickly the clouds were moving by... it's so hard to explain with words how immersed I was by that game's atmosphere back when I first played it over a decade ago. For every Assassin's Creed game afterwards, I'd always look at the night sky in Eagle Vision as soon as I could.. and if I didn't see the cool cloud movement that I loved from the 2nd game, I'd always be just a little bit disappointed. I guess I must be one of the weird ones because AC Odyssey is still one of my favorite of the recent AC games. Probably my favorite is that you have a piece of Eden throughout the entire game and benefit from all it's advantages. It kinda turns you into an ancient super hero. Also, I just love Kassandra as a character.

I love the old games and new games equally. The old games were driven by the unique stealth system that barely any other games were doing so it was cool. While the new games definetely have way more story and content then the old ones. Finally getting all this isu content and finally explaining why the assassins were so important throughout all time was awesome to me. I don’t love this game as an assassin game, I love this game as an assassins creed game, which is a much different meaning.

I'll tell you the best part of Odyssey. It's dialog/choice system. I have never played a game that had such a good choice system. I made a choice in the first 10 hours that I didn't see the results of for literally 50 more hours. A character can ask you something and you can give your answer on your choice of approach but, within gameplay, change your mind and face those consequences. There are many other ways the dialogue system was used in combination with its very unique 3 lined story structure.

I have no complaints about Odyssey I think everything about that game was done excellently well, all the different ways you can play the game is really enjoyable I like being able to change up my play style and all the assassination animations are amazing I don't think I could ever get bored of that game. You keep missing the main point with Rogue. Yes it was released in the same quarter as the next gen console releases. Yes it used a lot of the Blag Flag and AC3 resources. Yes it felt much smaller than the other recent games BUT it was released alongside those consoles specifically for players who couldn’t afford a next gen console at launch. Unity released at the same time and was next gen only. It also used the interesting plot point of KNOWINGLY playing as a Templar with assassin skills, something hinted at with Haytham in AC3…AND it is the only game which specifically sets up the next (Unity), which it does by duplicating the initial scene from a different perspective. This ties together the post Kenway trilogy and adds to the depth of the motivation in Unity by seeing it as a response to Connor, who was in part acting in response to Haytham, who in turn was corrupted by Birch in response to Edward’s actions

He started as and remained a stubborn asshole who was sure he was absolutely right about every last thing. He doesn't even start to look like he's learning anything until the Tyranny of King Washington DLC, and that DLC is actually EXCELLENT for that reason. The bummer is that it's undermined by the fact that none of it actually happened and it was just a mental blip between the two of them.

AC Gen 1 games (AC to AC Syndicate) were great games for old school AC content ( I did not like having to play mulit-player parts in Unity as I like to go it alone). I am told that Syndicate has glitchy graphics for the PS5 so I skipped it. For AC Gen 2 games (Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla) to me the side quests and skills building are much more fun that just playing through the main story. There is a lot of stealth in these games if you choose to go that way. I have taken down entire forts using just stealth (and a lot of patience). It took me over 270 hours to finish Origins including the DLCs. For Odyssey it took me over 320 hours to complete the game with all the DLCs. Valhalla is next and I expect close to 400 hours playing that game with all the DLCs. To me that is money worth spending for it's entertainment value alone.

Loved the addition of hanging enemies in trees in AC3 and was sad when the rope dart came back in Valhalla but we couldnt do this feature. Having said that, I absolutely loved Valhalla, but wanted more of Norway to explore as I've been there IRL and think they could have done more with it. Loved all the additional mechanics, the fishing, the settlement building, and the specific armour perks you could get with runes to adjust your armour to suit a situation, enemy, boss, mission, or your play-style, this feature was much better than just levelling up and becoming OP like in other games. The vastness of the worlds and countries to explore was beautiful, as was the exploration of Norse Mythology and the way it was interwoven into the story of the Isu. Some of the missions were real tear jerkers too! right in the feels... Gonna miss this game

I've always been a fan of the AC games, only problem was back then I had an issue of completing the base story for any of the games (Aside from 1, 2, Brotherhood, and 3). Until one day I decided to do an entire binge of the mainline series of games, not going onto the next until I completed the previous one. This definitely took a lot of time, especially as the series progressed, you were given plenty of ways to keep you busy with collectibles, side missions, and other stuff. And of course any DLC included with the games. I've still yet to get done with Valhalla, partly due to a major bug a while back for the optional boss in the Ireland DLC to get the spear where, despite doing the finisher, was completely unkillable.

What I like most about AC1 is its simplicity. It is an objectively AC game. You have a target, his/her background, a diverse arsenal and the environment. You set your aproach and start the mission. No factors were outstanding. Combat was bit complex and maybe boring, graphics were ok, the world design was very simple, the characters were forgettable, even Altair; soundtrack is so forgettable that i almost forgot to mention and nothing alone would make that game a masterpiece. But when you play it and find out how every single thing of these mix with the others, it puts a light on the core idea of the game and you can say “well, this is a thing that I didn’t see in other games. That’s actually a great idea”. Then we travel some years after, to the present day and see various ACs trying to look similar to the witcher 3 or other rpgs, abandoning the core idea of the franchise. Don’t get me wrong, I like plenty of content in a single player experience, but come on, where was the goddamn hidden blade in Odyssey? I mean, I don’t even know if it appears and don’t care, since I abandoned it after killing some dozens of repeated mercenaries hauting me and taking part in repeated Greek wars that were pointless to understanding the Brotherhood. If only Ubisoft developed a well done Ac with Unity’s engine…

Always felt that Rogue was a better Black Flag. The Morrigan was a better looking and performing ship than the Jackdaw, better outfits available, a way to make perpetual money, and of course, pesky tailing missions were drastically reduced along with those goofy diving bell scavenger hunts for blueprints. Yes the setting isn't as cool as the pirate age, and some didn't like playing as a templar, but it was superior in every other way. I enjoyed Origins well enough. I wouldn't call it ancient Egypt as the pyramids were already built and the region had been under Greek control for 300 yrs. with Bayak in the age of the last Pharaoh Cleopatra VII. It laid the groundwork for Layla and introduced us to a direct decendant of Kassandra in Aya, along with the beginning point of establishing a network of like-minded people who were willing to eliminate corrupt Oligarchs from the shadows and fight for the people. Odyssey is in my opinion the most fun to play from a gaming standpoint. Big and sprawling, beautiful landscape which was in stark contrast to the vast tan and terracotta palate of sandy Origins. Tons of gear options, some cheeky dialogue and humorous quests, brutal kills, plenty of stealth opportunities, challenging bosses, the return of ship battle, and not one, but three main quest paths (taking down the cult, reuniting the family, mystery of Atlantis). Was it grindy and repetitive at times? Yes, but most RPGs are...however you got your money's worth. This was the title that got a lot of female gamers playing the AC franchise, whether you are of a stance that Ubisoft has some social agenda is frankly irrelevant as their direction was a savvy business move that broadened its audience to the franchise. Valhalla was...well, a bit too grindy. Dialogue was bland as was the character interactions. The ridiculous spiderweb skill tree was overkill, plunging you into this tedious chore of micro-management. I don't need 400 "power" with a jillion points to strategically place into fractions of health, damage, archery, stealth, etc. I'd rather have a sensible skill tree with things like increased health and damage dealing baked in when you level up like the previous games. There wasn't near enough in game outfit options (couldn't even keep the native American one). No ship battle, stealth wasn't really necessary, raids were ultra repetitive and constantly having to figure out what door or window sliver you had to shoot thru to get to loot locked away in a plethora of empty shacks was just a lazy timekill. I can't go into the dreary environment because it's England and that's fairly accurate. The upside to the game is the dark ages Viking motif...always popular in pop culture, much like the pirate motif. Ability to make stealth assassinations be instantly fatal like the early gen games, horse riding felt smooth, and the game's ending really started to push the modern day story forward.(Odyssey detractors had to reluctantly admit just how important Kassandra was in carrying that staff around for over 2000 yrs.) and finally it left you on an intriguing cliffhanger with what Basim's ulterior motives might be. This brings me to a personal favorite of mine, which I'm in the extreme minority...but I adore Syndicate. The sibling rivalry, the writing, the Victorian age astehtic, beautiful London city, the bevy of historical figures, the WWI section, your own gang, interesting side quests, the snazzy outfits, the crazy almost comical fight mechanics, train hideout, and music...ah, the music is so good. This game actually felt like you were leading a small underdog team of associates to take down the Templars at THE Templar seat of power...London proper. Each helper had their strengths and roles to play and your actions had consequences and caused change as you slowly watched the brotherhood influence grow and the Templar influence fade with every activity completed and each burrough secured. That's just my two cents on a few of the games.

I think the original AC has two major things going for it: 1) the mission structure, while repetitive, was extremely interesting - having what was basically “Hitman but with a historical texture pack” was an incredibly promising idea and I only wish later games in the franchise expanded upon it more. Also 2) it’s one of the only games in a franchise all about free will and political/religious institutions ruling over the lower classes that actually feels philosophical in a way - not that I don’t love the later, pulpier espionage tone of the rest of the franchise but it would have been nice if it tried to do something a bit more interesting with its subtext every once in a while. For those two reasons I think AC1 is still an incredibly unique and ambitious game that’s definitely still worth a playthrough at least once

You basically didn’t say anything good about Valhalla. Everyone ignores how satisfying the combat was in this game, they nailed the brutality of the Vikings while also letting Eivor work as an assassin. Best combat in any ac game by a mile

The first one is the one I rarely played. Which is weird cause I played the later ones so many times. The story was confusing for me a bit and plus I didn't realize at the time that all the templars you murdered are all real people. Plus you didn't need to do everything to beat a chapter. One thing I hate about the first one is whenever you want to go back and play it that you need to select a chapter (to me is always the last) and watch a unskippable cutscene that lasted about 6 minutes. Then the game begins. 2nd one I hate about is that not only you can't get a cape that was only for people who played that expired facebook game (4 as an expired item as well and revelation has something like that as well) and plus if you got it on the pc that you can't get the dlc anymore same as the other trilogy and 3 unless you get the remastered versions. also I heard you can't go back to replay? I don't remember that's a thing. Also the game won't start on the pc version. Just gives you 2 exit the game screen which one on story mode select. Also don't get odyssey on pc. It lags and crashes alot even when you purchased it from the official ubisoft app. Also I heard they F up the series by making the main villian fate appeared in a comic which if that's the case then they really need to stop making these games. Also the main story gotten more ridicules. Desmond story was great and I could understand why they went with the way they did for 4 and rogue. But when Unity came out the story went off the deep end. Sure it was cool playing as other modern assassins but still at the same time just why?

As someone who has been doing parkour for over 10 years, I don't like Unity's parkour system. It feels blocky and slow. And it seems to be all about the visual which is the exact opposite of what parkour is supposed to be, especially in the context of chasing and fleeing. Arno constantly did unnecessary spins and huge leaps that felt even heavier than Connor when he ran. All while making his movement feel slow. It felt like he was running through shallow water. I do appreciate the climb down mechanic but even that didn't work correctly the majority of the time. For example if there is a roof in front of you that is a bit lower, but there's a small gap to get to that, he would just climb down the building you were on instead of jumping to the lower roof. If you chose the normal run he wouldn't do anything, and if you chose climb up, to jump the gap, he would do a crazy unrealistic leap up to a chimney on the other roof.

I really only like odyssey because of the boss battles. Once I had a HUGE boss battle (I’d call it one) where I was basically fighting about 14 bounty hunters because they just WOULDN’T STOP coming! I kill one and two more came to replace them lol took my nearly 30 minutes to get rid of them all. It was awesome

I honestly don't understand where everyone is coming from with the "ac origins is the first ac rpg". There's no dialog mechanic, there aren't really decisions to make that influence the story, there are the classic assassins creed missions where you desync simply by being seen... Yeah, it's combat was more rpg esque and the equipment system is a hybrid... While the weapons are very much rpg style, clothing is still only visually relevant. Really, aside from its looks i think it's really a lot closer to the old school assassins creed games than it is to the rpgs odyssey and Valhalla Edit: also, hidden ones is in my opinion the best ac dlc to date
